Customer Reviews

Overall:
It was a very wonderful and pleasant experience. The property was well maintained, very clean, and with spacious accommodations.
Enjoyed Most:
Cleanliness, size, and it was well-supplied with dishes, cooking utensils, and a washer.
Enjoyed Least:
It did require an automobile to get to anything, although the market and beach were within a 10-minute walk.
Surrounding Area:
It was quiet with a great view.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona; no, it was a 10-15 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
No, the property owner has it well-stocked with wonderful guides for shopping, dining, the beaches etc.
Directions:
We used my cell phone GPS. It led us right to the door.
Check In Out:
We were met by the property owners and it could not have gone more smoothly. They were very considerate of our time, not intrusive, and always available and helpful

Overall:
This was our best villa experience ever! Having the owners on site was very helpful! They were always there to guide us to the right place. Would highly recommend this to others.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners of the villa gave us a small supply of groceries to get us started as well as a lovely bottle of Cava. What a wonderful and thoughtful thing to do. It made for a great start to our holiday.
Enjoyed Least:
No air conditioning in our unit. There are fans in all the main rooms, but its such a hot location that I felt that all the villa rooms should have it.
Surrounding Area:
Villa was close by to everything. Nice beach options to drive to, great restaurants, close to Estepona, close to grocery stores and gas. Wonderful location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town was Estepona. You would need a car to get there. My recommendation to anyone renting this villa would be to have a car rental as well. Cannot imagine getting around without one.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring nothing. Kitchen was fully equipped with pots & pans, dish towels, paper towels etc. The starter kit of milk, coffee, juice and water that was supplied was a great treat. They had plenty of towels and also included pool towels. Just go and enjoy your trip. You don't even have to research any restaurants as the owners have a binder full of places to eat nearby, things to do etc. It was very handy. Also, they have a special deal with certain restaurants and you can get 10% discount off of your total bill! Again, a very nice surprise. The owner also has a large collection of movies which kept my kids occupied. Very handy and again something we weren't expecting!
Check In Out:
The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Once we found the villa all our stress of trying to get there dissipated once we met the owners.

Overall:
The pleasure of our first visit to Spain was materially enhanced by our stay at the villa, and has given us a new perspective on the possibility - and desirability - of returning to Spain permanently. The owners provided a warm, hospitable venue for a week-long stay in Estepona. The site facilities for our unit were superb, featuring a fully furnished apartment overlooking a scrupulously maintained pool.
Enjoyed Most:
Views from the villa patios and yard are breathtaking, and the balmy weather, coupled with a high-latitude sun, encourages a good deal of outdoor relaxation until very late in the evening. The kitchen comes supplied with a welcoming bottle of sparkling wine, condiments, and a full set of dishes, glassware and cooking utensils. Amenities include TV, VCR and DVD. All rooms have Casablanca-style fans. Laundry facilities are available in the adjacent garage.
Enjoyed Least:
We encountered only two minor issues. We found the outdoor sconce lighting too weak for reading, which we addressed by using an extension cord to move a floor lamp outside. We assumed there would be a dependable WiFi connection. The network exists, but our 5 devices (Nooks, BlackBerries Apple phones and tablets) could not connect...
Tips or Restaurants:
The owner is personally attentive to visitor needs and provides abundant help, including a sketch map of main landmarks to orient the visitor. Cleverly, he refers to the villa as the "Extra Mile" place, and it is an apt description. He has compiled a personalized binder of suggested activities, including walking tours of Estepona and car trips to nearby villages. We followed his local suggestions and were well rewarded for the effort. A visit to the white towns of the region is a must, especially Casares, Ronda and Castellar de la Frontera. The mostly public beaches are easily accessible by car, with surface free and underground paid parking.

Marina, June

Overall:
Our stay there was excellent. Can't say enough good things about our stay.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked the location, the apartment, the cleanliness, the grounds, and the owners. Oh, and the great view! The apartment had everything we needed and more. Also, Neville drew us a map with explicit directions on how to get wherever we were going.
Enjoyed Least:
We did have problems with the WiFi. It was difficult getting it from our apartment so we had to go into their garage, and when we came home at night we were unable to use our iPad. The last day we were there it was better. It had been quite windy so maybe that was the problem.
Surrounding Area:
Pretty much everything. It was close to the sea with great restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were on the west side of Estepona and close to everything. We had rented a car and took day trips.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owners provided us with a lot of information. Suggestions on restaurants, day trips, suggestions on walks in the old part of town and a whole lot more. Lynn and Neville were just wonderful.
Directions:
We had been driving all day and were dead tired. The directions were confusing only because it was dark. Our GPS was not much help, so we had to call Neville and have him meet us so we could follow him. He was there in five minutes and we were very thankful. I am sure his directions were very good but in the dark they seemed very confusing.

Overall:
Lovely surroundings. We liked the patio, view, pool, and gardens. The apartment was comfortable and nice.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet and comfortable. Lovely grounds and pool area. Nice patio.
Enjoyed Least:
Just a little small dining and lounge area.
Surrounding Area:
Estepona has a great harbour. Ronda is wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona is not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just enjoy. You couldn't find a better place on the Costa del Sol.

Allan, October

Overall:
It was quite enjoyable, largely because of the kind and thoughtful attention and advice of the owner.
Enjoyed Most:
It is a peaceful place overlooking the sea with beautiful lawn and gardens.
Surrounding Area:
It's in close proximity to other cities such as Rhonda, Gibraltar and Tangiers, and Marbella. Plus the old town of Estepona is quite nice.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona is a 40-min walk; we took a cab or if Neville was going into town, we got a ride with him.
Tips or Restaurants:
We did not rent a car; we took tours, which worked out well for us.
Directions:
We traveled by train/bus to Estepona.

Bob, October

Overall:
The place was great and the owners always helpful with good suggestions when asked. The property is clean, quiet, and has all the necessary amenities. The owner also had a some food supplies for us, something I have never experienced in a weekly rental before - that was so nice.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the pool were definitely great. The hospitality was also one of the greatest advantages for this property. We have young kids, and they were welcomed. The kids still ask when they are going to go back!
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing negative to report.
Surrounding Area:
Many beaches in close proximity within 10 minutes by car. We could also take walks in the surrounding streets. The grounds of the property are just beautiful with tall palm trees and great landscaping.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Menhora is a great fine restaurant. We also enjoyed Swing - the owner was super nice to the kids. Definitely bring bug repellant - Mosquitoes are hungry!
Directions:
No GPS. Absolutely not necessary. Very easy to find.
Check In Out:
As mentioned, an initial grocery shopping with essentials was done which was really nice. The owner walked us through the property and showed us everything when we arrived.

Isabelle, June

Overall:
I liked the property so much that I really didn't want to leave it much. I preferred spending the day at the villa to sightseeing and to the beach. The owners were very hospitable.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and the landscaping. The grounds are beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
I don't really have any negative comments.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting Ronda and Jerez. My wife went to one or two of the hilltop towns, but I elected to stay home with kids because I wanted to RELAX. And that I did.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just ask the owner anything and you'll get the real story. He suggested Casa Miguel to us, and we enjoyed our meal there. It wasn't fancy, but we didn't want fancy. Actually I strongly recommend bringing a hand-held GPS. Spain in general is hard to navigate and I'm an experienced traveler.
Check In Out:
The owner was very reasonable. We broke a glass or two and some other accessories in the bathroom, and he didn't charge us. An outdoor umbrella also blew over and was damaged while we were using it, and he didn't charge us for that either. A good guy.

Jeannine, June

Overall:
The owners could not have been more helpful. They made us feel welcome and special. I think this is a lovely spot and would be happy to recommend it to others.
Enjoyed Most:
Very well equipped, beautiful location, quiet, great hosts, for English speaking travelers a great bonus.
Enjoyed Least:
I didn't like parking, turning around at the top of hill and parking on the hill.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access, friendly people, close to beach and town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona - not really in walking distance but not far.
Tips or Restaurants:
I can't think of a thing that was not provided. Even books for readers, DVDs, CDs, etc were available. Perhaps if they wish a laptop but I was glad to leave mine behind.
Directions:
A little tricky but we phoned the owner and he guided us in.
Check In Out:
We arrived later than planned as we miscalculated the travelling time. We were very tired when we finally arrived and the owner could not have made us more welcome. checking out was like saying good bye to old friends - lovely.

Marsha, October

Overall:
Its a great place and I would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners were great hosts, and the property is very livable and comfortable -- just the sort of place I like. They were thoroughly prepared for visitors and made available a binder that they had created filled with information.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
Great location for exploration of some great sights. We traveled a good deal using this as a base, and it was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The beach is walking distance; the port isn't really-- it would be a rather long walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owner is an excellent source for restaurants. We especially liked La Menorah, though its a little pricey. Swing is also good. The Thai restaurant at the port is cheap and good.

William, July

Enjoyed Most:
The privacy, views, ease, and safety of the property. The on-site owners who were gracious hosts. Ah, yes, and the pool. We appreciated that we could borrow CDs and DVDs. We enjoyed the BBC TV channels. The ping pong table and board games were fun, too. Being able to use the clothes washer was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
We thought long and hard about this one, but came up with nothing about the property that we found negative. About the surrounding area -- driving through some very narrow streets, not very good street signs or no street signs, difficulty finding a parking space. When paying to park, keep the ticket that you get when you enter the garage with you and pay using the automatic pay stations before you exit.
Surrounding Area:
Recommend driving to the ruins near Bolonia, walking in the old town Estepona, and taking tours to Gibraltar and Tangier, Morocco with the tour group VDT. Get tickets from Benamar travel agency on main road in Estepona. Request pickup in front of Hotel Elba so that you can walk to the pickup spot.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You need to drive to Estepona and pay to park. You can walk to the beach in about 5 minutes -- just walk down the street and across the pedestrian bridge and you are there.
Tips or Restaurants:
The hosts created a book for the villa that provides excellent tips on surrounding restaurants and day trips.
Directions:
We recommend flying into Gibraltar. The small airport was very convenient. It was easy to walk to pick up the rental car in Spain and then drive to the villa in 40 minutes.
Check In Out:
We got a very helpful "orientation" tour of the villa, room by room, and of the grounds and common areas.
