Overall:
Experience was very good. House is comfortable and well furnished.
Enjoyed Most:
Front patio is very nice. There was some local tourism info at the house, this helped us a lot to move around and get the most out of the stay.
Enjoyed Least:
Decor is too accentuated. A more neutral style would make people feel more comfortable. No cable TV, only local channels.
Surrounding Area:
House is well located near Avignon, no doubt the most beautiful city in Provence and at the very heart of the Vaucluse with myriads of towns and villages to explore. Fine wineries and restaurants abound within a 30 km radius.
Nearby Events or Locales:
House is located in Carpentras. This town enjoyed a brilliant past but is currently a bit run down. City center is half a mile away from the house.
Tips or Restaurants:
Gasoline is cheaper in hypermarkets near downtown: Le Clerc, Intermarche, etc. Carpentras is good launchpad to explore Provence and the Cote d'Azur 150-200 km away. Among Provence villages, a lot within 40 km deserve a visit: Gordes, L'Isle Sur le Sorgue (excellent Sunday market), Menerbes, Seguret, Vacqueyras, Chateauneuf du Pape, Rousillon, Vaison-la-Romaine. Marseille, Avignon, Arles and Nimes are all at day-trip distance. Very good restaurants almost everywhere. For good food follow the locals and avoid touristy places. Bring cash all the time as some credit card machines gas station, parking, etc. are only accepting cards with chip uncommon in the US.
