Boasting some of Europe's most spectacular coastline, Sardinia is the ultimate destination for sun seekers and those who prize the clear, blue waters of the Mediterranean. It's also a wild, exotic land that bears little resemblance to the rest of Italy. Perhaps its most famous (and beautiful) spot is the Costa Smeralda, a stretch of coastline that is dotted with chic towns such as Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. Looking for adventure in paradise? The island's mountainous interior offers incredible hiking opportunities; there are prehistoric rock villages, canyons, oak forests, and mountain sheep.

Sassari  -  [ Matches:  8 Villas and Houses For Rent]

Sassari contains the gorgeous Costa Paradiso, a coastline including nine "paridise beaches" punctuated by reddish, wind-sculpted cliffs. But along with beach-lounging, there is much to see and do from our villas with pools in this area. The city of Sassari, after which this region takes its name, is the second most populated and important town in Sardinia. It is filled with ancient buildings, such as churches, cathedrals, fountains, and towers, some of which have been converted into museums. The municipal library houses a 1481 copy of Dante's Divine Comedy, illustrated with etchings by Botticelli. The smaller town of Sorso, where we also have Sardinia holiday accommodations, goes even further back in time, with traces of human settlements dating from Neolithic times: the necropolis of Abbiu, the megalithic barrier of Monte Cao, and the nuraghic sanctuary of Serra Niedda. Castelsardo, rising on a promontory over the sea, was founded in the 12th century and still has the remains of a medieval castle, including a tower, gates, and a few rooms. Little fishing villages with great beaches like Lu Bagnu sit between these larger destinations, creating the perfect settings for our luxury villas in Sardinia. On the other hand, our villas in Santa Teresa Gallura are a great way to experience everything in one—local cultural traditions, ancient ruins, and amazing beaches. And if you feel like vacationing in style, a villa with a pool in Porto Cervo will put you near a prestigious marina and many VIP hangouts—this is where celebrities and royalty go to spend their millions.

Cagliari  -  [ Matches:  3 Villas and Houses For Rent]

There are many great beaches and sights near our villa rentals with pools in the Cagliari region. The Sardinian capital city of Cagliari, built on seven hills, was once a Carthaginian port town. Over the centuries it was alternately conquered by the Pisans and Spaniards, and today the local dialect still retains a unique link to the Catalan language. The city is divided into a modern half and a medieval side, but both have narrow, winding streets and many churches and historical buildings. The whole area hosting our Sardinia holiday villas is dotted with beautiful white-sand beaches and picturesque ruins. The majority of our rental villas in the Cagliari area are located in Torre della Stelle, named so because of the clear, starry nights visible here. Because of its southward orientation, summers are longer here and the climate is fantastic, nestled within the protection of the mountains. In town and on the beaches there are plenty of opportunities for activity, from scuba diving in some of the clearest water in the world to tennis, windsurfing, and more.
