Overall:
Our group of six people - three couples - were delighted with the experience of sharing this beautiful villa for a week.
Enjoyed Most:
Probably each of us enjoyed different things about the property. For me, it was the spacious 15th century stone house and guest house, tastefully modernized and furnished, that I fell in love with. I loved the garden with its pool and statues (so very Italian!) and being able to pick fresh tomatoes, basil and parsley for our pasta suppers.
Enjoyed Least:
No one had negative comments about the villa. The bathroom plumbing was sometimes a challenge but these are the adventures one expects when travelling. One couple commented that they would have preferred to be walking distance from a village for shopping, but we had two rented cars so this was not a serious issue.
Surrounding Area:
I loved being surrounded by the Tuscan hills with its neat rows of vineyards and olive orchards. We were there at harvest season so enjoyed watching the grape-pickers at work - and drinking the excellent local wines!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town - a village really - was Pianella about 5 kms away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Having a car was essential - and a carefully programmed GPS! The nearest supermarkets are in Siena, only 30 mins away from the villa once you know your way back to the villa (or have a good GPS to guide you). There was quite a good restaurant in the village of Pianella and we found many excellent places to eat in the surrounding area on our various day trips. We would also highly recommend hiring a chef to prepare at least one typical Tuscan dinner. Stefano (recommended in the villa info) prepared us a delicious meal one night, leaving the kitchen spotless and some delectable leftovers in the fridge.
Directions:
We found the property without difficulty with the help of a GPS. Coordinates were provided.
Check In Out:
The owner of the villa was there to greet us on our arrival and show us around. When we left, the gardener (whom we had seen on several occasions during the week) saw to the checking-out process.

Overall:
We had a wonderful stay in Tuscany
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were lovely and well cared for, well suited for great al fresco dining and large groups.
The house was meticulously and immaculately clean.
Enjoyed Least:
Because we were stuck inside for 3 days because or rain, we didn't feel that the house flowed well. For example, there is not an inviting area to lounge in other than the kitchen. There was not a working fireplace in cold, rainy weather. In our opinion, the house was too full of knick knacks. The kitchen needs more pans, cutlery, wine glasses, etc. Better directions needed. Editor's Note: Kitchen equipment: 48 plates, 24 wine glasses, full set of utensils for 12 + extra, pots and pans for 12. The fireplace is usable; just need to ask the owner.
Surrounding Area:
If you don't mind a 20-minute drive from Siena, this is a lovely location. Central to both Chianti and Brunello wine regions.
Away from the hustle and bustle, it was a serene location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Pianella was the closest town, about 6 km from the farmhouse.
Tips or Restaurants:
We dined several evenings at Osteria alla Villa in Villa La Sesta, about 20 mins away. It was wonderful.
We took the wine tour in Tuscany in Brunello and Chianti and it was well worth the investment.
We took the cooking school at Casanova in Castello in Chianti. It too was a day well spent!
Check In Out:
Franco was a kind host. Very charming.
