About The Experience

Luxuriate in this gorgeous villa on the island of Mykonos. The island is known for its wonderful beaches, charming towns all in idyllic white and blue, lively nightlife and world famous beach parties. In recent years, Mykonos has also become a celebrity destination, so keep your eyes out for familiar faces when you go out (try Pasarou beach). However, spending time at your own amazing luxury villa with a pool in Greece will make you feel like a celebrity—it's impossible not to when you've got full-time maid and chef service, ready and waiting to make your experience at this villa in Greece the highlight of your Mykonos holiday.

Location Description

Located on the northwestern outskirts of Mykonos, this villa is only a 5-minute walk from a lovely sandy beach, and 15 minutes' walk from town. In the area around the villa there are a few hotels, but situated far enough away to maintain privacy. The town of Mykonos, on the western side of the island, is characterized by all-white buildings typical of the Greek Aegean islands, with brilliant blue windows and doors. Wherever you go it is likely that there will be a windmill within sight. Many of the original windmills are now private homes or museums. Perhaps the most photographed structure on the island is the unique Paraportiani, a cluster of four churches with a fifth actually built on top of one of the others. In the harbor you may run into one of the many Mykonos pelicans who wander through Alevkantra and the harbor around Mykonos town. There are also plenty of opportunities for fun seaside activities, such as snorkeling, diving, and windsurfing. If you feel up for adventure, you can hire a boat to go to Delos, a small nearby island filled with the crumbling ruins of an ancient religious centre. Exploring the island of Mykonos is also very easy, since it is a rather small island. You can rent a car, but scooters are more convenient and fun! You will find lots of beautiful beaches, shopping areas, and… rocks! That's right, rocks. In Greek mythology, Mykonos was the place where Hercules battled the giants, and it is said that the enormous rocks scattered over the island are their fallen corpses.

Exterior Description
(2000 m2/21527 ft2)

Offering the height of luxury, the villa is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the sea and Megali Ammos beach. The property is surrounded by olive trees, bougainvillea, gardenias, palm trees, and a cactus garden. To the north there is an open view of Mykonos Town and its picturesque windmills. Outdoor amenities include a huge swimming pool and deck equipped with elegant rattan furniture and a barbecue, surrounded by bougainvilleas, grape vines, and cactus. There are a total of four outdoor areas: a balcony, a kitchen terrace, a salon, and the barbeque area. The salon, located above the cactus garden, is great for dining or a relaxing massage. A couple (both fluent in English) lives on site and attends to all daily housekeeping, cooking, pool and grounds maintenance. Although they have lived on the island for 15 years, they are both originally Filipino, so the menu offers a variety of choices.

Interior Description
(250 m2/2690 ft2)

As the villa is nestled into a hillside, there is no true ground floor, since both the first and second levels have outdoor access. Much if the furniture in the house is made from colonial teak, imported from the Indonesian island of Bali. Art on the walls is a mixture collected from all over the world.

Ground Floor: The front door leads into the living area on the right. Also on the right is the conservatory, a glassed area overlooking the town of Mykonos, Tinos Island, and the sunset. On the left of the entryway is located a kitchen/dining room, fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, oven, juicer, toaster, cappuccino maker, and blender. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor. There is one bedroom with a king-size bed and a separate bathroom (not ensuite) with sink, toilet, and shower. There is also one bedroom with two twin-beds and an ensuite bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower.

First Floor: (Also at ground level) Situated on the same level as the swimming pool, the first floor bedrooms function as a self-contained suite. There are two connecting bedrooms: one twin-bedded room and one double bedroom. The bedrooms share a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. Please be aware that from the twin-bedded room, you must pass through the double bedroom to get out of the suite and into the rest of the villa. There is also a kitchenette.

Second Floor: There is a master bedroom with king-size bed and ensuite bathroom with sink, toilet, shower, and bathtub. All ground floor and second floor bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans; the first floor bedrooms have standing fans. All bedrooms have mosquito nets over the beds.

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay there very much. The facility was outstanding and the service was first rate. The pictures online had us expecting a nice location and all of us felt that the property delivered what was expected, and then some!
Enjoyed Most:
The outdoor area was very private and calming. There were lots of spaces to seek out some downtime both inside and outside.
Enjoyed Least:
The sound system is quite outdated. Our only suggestion is that nobody uses CDs anymore and with a property like this one it would make more sense to have iPod-friendly sound system capabilities. Editor's Note: A new sound system has been installed. Nov 2012.
Surrounding Area:
Lots of beaches to go and try out. Walking distance to the town, easy cab rides to anywhere. That said, we would recommend a car to people for the freedom it offers. The view was outstanding, the sunsets from the property are magical.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mykonos Town is walking distance, about 15 minutes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring CDs for music until such time as the sound system on the property is upgraded. No need to bring spices, etc from home, as this property would not require it. Beach towels, beach bags, and linens are all there and decent quality.
Directions:
We were met at the port by Ernesto, along with the car rental company. We rented a car for the duration and it proved handy, as we drove one car and Ernesto brought the other folks who couldn't fit into the one car when we needed to transport more than three people.

Overall:
Wonderful, it was a very relaxing vacation.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and outdoor eating areas.
Enjoyed Least:
The only thing that was slightly inconvenient was being told not to put the TP in the toilets. Editor's Note: This is the custom throughout the Greek Islands, and has to do with the islands' sewer systems.
Surrounding Area:
Liked the "smallness" of the island - could explore the whole island.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mykonos Town - yes, it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good restaurant - Katarina's
