(35 Hectares)
This apartment is located on a working farm that produces wine, olive oil, Vinsanto, and grappa, as well as various grain crops. There are also uncultivated areas which, in the spring, are covered with poppies. Picturesque paths through these areas lead to adjacent farms. The original 19th century farmhouse, in which this apartment is located, has been carefully restructured and transformed into six modernized apartments, each with its own entrance. The house is located on a hilltop, affording a panoramic view over the hills of the Chianti district. Surrounding the house is a communal garden and shared swimming pool which is open from late April to mid-October (14m x 7m). There is also a cement tennis court in the center of the farmstead, racquets are provided. A large barbecue and covered dining table are the center of the communal area, along with ping-pong, children's games, a play house, a slide, and a swing. Small individual tables and barbecues are also provided for the convenience of individual families. A selection of mountain bikes is available for use. A large parking area is located in front of the house, and there are shared laundry facilities.
At the completion of the harvest season, a celebration is held, during which all guests are invited to sample the many flavors and products of the land. In the cantina (cellar), run by the head of the family, there is a shop where guests may purchase bottles of wine for their own use. The owner's family occupies a separate unit in the farmhouse building. The family cares for the garden and provides homemade baked pastries as part of the welcome extended to new guests, or in celebration of special events.

Overall:
It was everything I had hoped for. We enjoyed the other guests and our privacy on the spacious grounds.
Enjoyed Most:
The charm of the working farm.
Surrounding Area:
It was conveniently located for access to the wonderful Tuscan sites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia, about 2 km. You could not walk
Tips or Restaurants:
You will need a car for enjoyment to access Tuscany. Every city had outstanding food and wine
Directions:
We used GPS on the mobile because the car's GPS could not locate the property. Once we found the property we used Staggia as the location on the car GPS, and that worked.
Check In Out:
Claudia was easy to work with.

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience. The accommodations were terrific and the views were breathtaking. Our hosts were an amazing family who made us feel like part of their family.
Enjoyed Most:
The best part of our stay was the warmth and hospitality of our hosts. We send our love to Claudia who tends to the guests while her husband Rudi, tends the vineyard. Simone, a cousin, is the wine maker. Grandmothers Tina and Geraldine and Claudia's and Rudi's two beautiful children Marta and Gabby make it a family affair.
Enjoyed Least:
The only minor complaint was that the kitchen did not have enough lighting above the cook top.
Surrounding Area:
The amazing views and close proximity to other nearby towns. Be sure to visit San Gimignano. It is a twenty five minute drive from the villa. This famous walled medieval town in Tuscany is one of the most beautiful places to spend the day. It has great sidewalk cafes and restaurants, plenty of small shops for buying souvenirs and some of the most breathtaking views in Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was near enough to walk too but the car traffic on the windy road to town moves too quickly for my comfort.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything you will need for a comfortable stay is already there. We found a terrific restaurant at a nearby vineyard. The Forestoria Restorante Cucina Cantina at Villa Cera is a short five minute drive from Vecchio Borgo.
Directions:
Directions were perfect. We used the GPS feature on our cell phone to get us there. However our experience at Florence airport and especially renting a car there was not pleasant. I would rather fly directly into Rome on my next trip to Tuscany. From Rome you can either take the train or rent your car at Rome Airport and drive.
Check In Out:
Checking in and out was easy and trouble free.
