Customer Reviews

The villa and the owner were amazing.
Enjoyed Most:
The terraces and gardens were even better than pictured. We spent mornings on the front terrace having coffee and planned our day trips. And then spent evenings drinking wine and recollecting the highlights of our day. The swimming pool was welcome late night refreshment.
Enjoyed Least:
It was particularly warm when we visited in late summer. But opening the house up in the evening, the cool breezes coming down the hillside quickly cooled off the house.
Surrounding Area:
Our hostess introduced us to local shops and restaurants that we never would have found on our own.
Nearby Events or Locales:
La Spezia down the hill really was not walkable. But we had a car and wasn't an issue for us.
Tips or Restaurants:
Best restaurant in La Spezia was Antica Trattoria L. Sevieri and in Manarola it was Cappun Magru. House has everything you need. Nothing to bring.
Owner met us in La Spezia and we followed her up to the Villa. GPS worked afterwards to get us there. Use GPS its confusing and narrow roads, but easy to navigate with GPS.
Check In Out:
We were delayed one day due to flight delays and our host was more than accommodating meeting us and showing us features of the house. Couldn't have been simpler or more pleasant.

Our host, Annalisa, met us at the cruise terminal and guided us through the streets of La Spezia up to the villa. She pointed out the Coop for groceries, the train station for some of our week's adventures, and restaurants. She was a huge help through out the week.
Enjoyed Most:
The sense that we were in a special space.
Enjoyed Least:
The finicky alarm system
Surrounding Area:
We loved the beauty of every town that we visited as well as the countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The home is in the hills overlooking Le Spezia, a port city. One could walk but driving is quicker.
Tips or Restaurants:
September is the perfect time of year to visit. You open the house up and sleep with the breeze coming in the windows. Buy meats, cheeses and wine at the coop as well as breakfast and use the terraces each morning evening.
We used GPS, and still ended up making the wrong turn occasionally. Roll with it: The GPS recalculates and you learn more ways home.
Check In Out:
Annalisa will adapt each to accommodate your travel arrangements

Enjoyed Most:
Home-like atmosphere and appointments. Gracious owner. Cooking class and meal available from resident housekeeper (former chef). Easy parking on property for up to 3 cars.
Enjoyed Least:
Smallest of 4 bedrooms not fairly portrayed in photos and description. Located on main floor with separate bathroom.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access by train or boat to Cinque Terre towns and Portofino, and by car to Carrara marble quarries.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Villa located on hillside overlooking La Spezia. Not a practical walk into town, but an easy drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cooking class/chef services are on-premises if desired.
