The Santa Maria Novella train station is a 15-minute walk, and the closest bus stop is right at the base of the piazza.

Nearby Attractions:The Santa Croce quarter is located on the southeastern part of the historic center of Florence. Since the Middle Ages, it was an area specializing in leather. The piazza in front of the church is filled day and night with tourists and locals. Some of the best gelato shops and restaurants can be found in this neighborhood. Piazza dei Ciompi has a daily flea market as well as a large monthly market (last Sunday). Plaz, located across from the 16th century Loggia del Pesce is a fun and casual place to stop for a drink and live music.

This was our second time in the same villa and it was wonderful. The renovations were great - enlarging one bedroom and 3 bathrooms. We were so comfortable and felt right at home.
Enjoyed Most:
The spaciousness and location.
Enjoyed Least:
The views.
Surrounding Area:
We were right in the middle of all the activity around Santa Croce and close proximity to most sites.
Took a taxi and they knew just where Santa Croce was.

It was outstanding! The apartment was large, spacious and very nicely appointed except for the couch and chairs. Large windows with no screens, very clean place, small kitchen, very nice apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of the property was fabulous. Within walking distance to everything! Bus-train station was the furthest away at a 25-minute walk. Everything else was significantly closer.
Enjoyed Least:
It was unseasonably hot while there. I wish we had turned on the AC. The only other thing that we didn't like was no screens, so we used "Vape" machines to keep the mosquitoes away.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. We stayed a month, which allowed us time to see almost everything in Florence, plus take several day-trips and a 3-day trip to Cinque Terre.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in an apartment in the historic district of Florence, so everything was within walking distance. We did visit several "suburbs" of Florence - Fiesole, Scandicci and Pratolino - all by local buses.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of English paperback books were left by previous visitors, so no reading material is needed. Everything else was really well provided for. Boccadama, the restaurant right outside our door was great we ate there several times. But the truth is, every restaurant, cafe, and trattoria that we tried during the month of May was GREAT. There wasn't a bad one at all.
We gave the address to the taxi driver at the airport. We went straight to the Piazza Santa Croce. No problem.
Check In Out:
Francesa met us and showed us all around, including how to read the electric and gas meters in case we wanted to monitor our usage. She was very friendly and gave us a great orientation.
