There are a number of leisure activities you can find in or around Monsummano such as golf courses, horseback riding facilities, walking tours, and cooking classes. Nearby are the Giusti Grottoes, home to hot thermal baths; the Pistoia hills and mountains, where skiing in the winter is an option; a pretty Romanesque church and an ancient castle. Thirty kilometers away is Lucca, which is worth enjoying for its medieval charm in addition to a number of interesting sights. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130 foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand, viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work! There is a train station in both Montecatini Terme (located seven kilometers away) and Lucca in which you can easily and quickly travel to Pisa or Florence for the day should you not feel like driving.

Great experience. The house is beautiful and well kept.
Enjoyed Least:
The road to get to the house was not so easy for those of us not used to driving in the mountains.
Surrounding Area:
Very peaceful area. Location was good. House is close (about 45 mins) to Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The town of Monsummano is very close although not within wlaking distance.

Check In Out:
No issue there... The owners were extremely attentive. They were waiting for us at the house and showed us around and explained everything. A+

Mirtha, March

Our overall experience was wonderful. The scenic views are beautiful. The home is very clean and accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is very spacious with multiple bathrooms, allowing us to get ready simultaneously. The location on the outskirts of town was peaceful and tranquil.
Enjoyed Least:
WiFi connectivity is poor. The winding roads to get to the property can be difficult to maneuver depending on weather conditions and if driving at night.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful and peaceful scenery. Close to town, nearby restaurant on top of the hill. Gated property for security
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were on Monsummano, however is was not walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are many small restaurants in Monsummano. The restaurant that I enjoyed for the food, wine and great service was Ristorante Pizzeria Sottogrotta. The supermarket is conveniently nearby (by car).
No suggestions as we use our own GPS system.
Check In Out:
We were greeted by the owners when we checked in and departed. The process was very smooth and the owners were extremely friendly and responsive.

Glorisa, March

Anna and Alessandro could not have been more gracious to us. They were very responsive to every need and even gave us some of their own fresh olive oil made from the 1700 trees on their property. We had a wonderful time.
Enjoyed Most:
The house is beautiful and the grounds were incredible. Everything you could ask for in a Tuscan experience. The pictures do not do it justice. It is much grander and more beautiful than the pictures show.
Enjoyed Least:
It is on a very narrow road and that was not my favorite road by far. But, it is so rarely traveled that we only came upon another car maybe three times and never on the last road to the house.
Surrounding Area:
It is very quiet and the views are stunning. It looks like a post card it is so beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You need a car here for any hope of getting to town as it is too far to walk. We went into Montecatini Terme many time and explored. A great little town.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had a fabulous dinner (twice, and we never repeat restaurants but we broke our own rule) at a place in town called the "American Bar". The restaurant is actually called La Cascina. It has outside lighting and sofa and chairs on fine gravel. The drinks were great and the ambiance wonderful. We stayed for dinner and it was the best salmon and lamb we had on our trip, thus the return dinner on our last night. It is at 43 Viale Giuseppe Verdi and the website is
If you print a picture of the gates from the entry you will be able to use GPS to find it easily and recognize the gates. It is much bigger than the pictures show with two different entrances. Anna was watching for us and immediately came out when she saw us.
Check In Out:
Our hosts were gracious and lovely. We had no problem at all with the check out and they returned our deposit minus the amount for the cleaning. We tried hard not to overuse the electricity and they did not charge us for extra use.
