Location Description

This villa is in an ideal location for day trips throughout Tuscany and the Chianti. Lucolena is the nearest village at about one km away. Lucolena has one small food shop, one pharmacy, and a pizzeria. Dudda has a restaurant and tiny food shop (attached). Greve, the unofficial wine capital of Chianti, is less than a 10-minute drive away and is a town full of wine shops. This medieval town is believed to have been settled since before the Etruscans and the Romans dominated the area. Each September, Greve hosts the biggest wine festival in the region but it’s also famous for its funnel-shaped, arcaded Piazza Mercatale that has a statue of the 16th century explorer, Verrazzano, in the center. Chianti, known for its production of red wine, is full of specialized wine shops, wine tour opportunities, cooking classes, restaurants, museums, and castles. A train station is also located eight kilometers away in Filgiine that can take you to Florence in 20 minutes. The supermarket in Figline is open on Sunday, which is very convenient! Also nearby is a Fashion Outlet. A car is essential for this property.

Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful kitchen, garden and views.
Enjoyed Least:
Perhaps a slightly larger and more modern TV.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. It was breathtakingly beautiful. And the local villages just beautiful
Nearby Events or Locales:
Dudda. Not really.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make reservations at the local eating places.
The directions were very clear. And yes we did.

No. Leonardo was extremely accommodating as we had a bad experience with our flights!!

I felt as if I was in a movie set...very scenic, peaceful and comfortable!
Enjoyed Most:
Everything. The villa is very charming, clean, and perfect size for the 6 of us. All worked out perfectly.
Surrounding Area:
Very calm way of'd hear the rooster crowing and the farm tractor working in the distant was welcomed noise for me.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Dudda is the nearest "could" walk it, but I wouldn't suggest it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Great restaurant in the town of Dudda...also a nice art gallery next door. As far as what to bring from the USA for this trip..? A good attitude, and looking forward to having a wonderful atmosphere.
We used GPS and it was fine for getting us where we needed to go.
Check In Out:
Both check in and check out was fine!

Our party thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The setting was beautiful, and the surroundings very peaceful. Daytime temperatures exceeded 85 F, but the house remained cool for sleeping. We loved the pool. The sense of solitude was wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Without a doubt, given the temperatures, we loved the pool. The water was a perfect temperature - nice and cool under the hot sun.
Enjoyed Least:
The two living rooms could have used a couple of comfortable chairs.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the panoramic views from the villa of nearby vineyards, villas, and the surrounding mountains.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Dudda - the youngest of our party was 55, the oldest was 67. For folks our age, walking might have been possible but pretty challenging. The ascent to Dudda on RT.16, and the ascent back up the road towards Lucolena would have required significant energy. Also the roads are pretty narrow, raising safety concerns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Driving a car on the roads requires concentration - there are autos, trucks, motorcycles, bicyclists, and walkers all vying for space on narrow , windy roads. We ate at a great restaurant at the Villa Palagina, about 6 kilometers east of our villa on Rt.16. Tremendous view, and great food.
We used a GPS and I am glad we had it. It brought us right to the lane into the villa.
Check In Out:
Our hosts were wonderful. Due to heavy traffic, we arrived late as we drove in from Milan. We called Leonardo, and he made arrangements for someone to be there when we arrived. He was also very helpful and and had lots of suggestions that enhanced the quality of our visit.
