About The Experience

Traveling in a larger group may get pretty hectic at times but the pros definitely outweigh the cons, especially if you choose to stay at this Tuscany farmhouse! Furnished with antiques and comprised of seven bedrooms, choose to cook for yourselves in your large kitchen or have someone prepare something delicious for you, right in the comfort of your home. Only adding to its greatness is the fact that this farmhouse in Italy is within walking distance of Sant'Albino di Montepulciano.

Location Description

Just 800 meters from the farmhouse is the village of Sant Albino di Montepulciano where there are thermal spas, grocery stores, butcher shop, bars, and restaurants. Four kilometers away is the center of Montepulciano, which like Many Tuscan towns, is known to produce great wines. Many of the buildings date back to the 14th century but the castle is believed to date back to the year 715. Because Montepulciano's center is "car-free," seeing the main sights such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Palazzo Comunale will be easy and fun. There are also many restaurants, shops, and cafes in addition to the some necessities like banks and pharmacies. Great day trip destinations include some of the regions most famous towns like Cortona, a city filled with beautiful art, museums, shops, and restaurants, Siena, and Arezzo.

Nearby Attractions: Montepulciano (wine tasting, shops, restaurants, markets, pharmacy, bank, ancient cathedrals), Pienza, Cortona (museums, shops, restaurants), Siena, Arezzo, Perugia.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Fantastic experience with a beautiful area and facility.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting was in the country with a nice quiet community close by and yet larger centers a short drive away for shopping and groceries.
Enjoyed Least:
The only complaint about the property was the mattress in the bedroom. The mattress was firm and lumpy making it difficult to get a good sleep. On a holiday it is important to have a good sleep in order to have an enjoyable holiday. If the owners can improve this, then the experience at the villa would have been perfect.
Surrounding Area:
The area was beautiful and quiet, a perfect setting.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The community of Saint Albino was walking distance and we walked in for supper on a few occasions.
Tips or Restaurants:
We recommend the Tre Stella restaurant in Saint Albino, good food and atmosphere and we could walk to and from the restaurant.
Directions:
We did use GPS which took us to where the gravel road began and it said we had reached our destination. Keep going past the grave yard on the right until you reach the gate of the property.

Overall:
Loved the pool. Very relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
Secluded and yet close to amenities.
Enjoyed Least:
Hard to find things in the kitchen. No oven mitts or BBQ utensils... but there is a great BBQ!
Surrounding Area:
E-biking from town to town was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
St. Albino, within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Would just mention that most stores/restaurants are closed in the afternoon.
Directions:
No issues with directions and yes, we used a GPS.

Overall:
We were a group of seven couples. We had mountain bikes dropped off at the villa for our 7 day vacation. In addition, the owner organized an afternoon at her family's vineyard and a chef to come to the villa for a dinner cooking class. In addition, we hired a bike guide who organized a guided tour and a lunch at a local vineyard. The week was absolutely wonderful. The villa pros: The layout, the size and the quality of the Villa is first class. We enjoyed cooking breakfasts, lounging around the pool and just relaxing in the courtyard. All 7 bedrooms work well. 6 of the bedrooms are very equal in quality with only the middle bedroom on the first floor being slightly less in quality as compared to the other six. Silvia, our host and owner, was very punctual for both our arrival and departure. She also organized the wine tour and cooking class.
Enjoyed Most:
The size and quality of the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
The signage is not very good and the entrance road is a bit rough.
Surrounding Area:
Peaceful. Close to all sort of wonderful ancient towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes, Saint Albino is within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would recommend the Farmhouse at La Foce.
Directions:
Check out the satellite view on Google before coming to the villa. This will make it easier to find.
