About The Experience

Few places can compare to the charm of this Tuscany villa rental near Arezzo, great for a family with kids. Nestled among the hills amidst trees and grass, you'll feel you've arrived at the quintessential Tuscan experience. You can explore small villages near this farmhouse in Tuscany, venture into Arezzo, which is where the movie "Life is Beautiful," starring Roberto Benigni, was filmed, or travel further for day trips to Cortona or Lake Trasimeno. You will also enjoy wandering the countryside, on foot, in a car, or on horseback while staying at this farmhouse accommodation in Tuscany.

Location Description

This Tuscany holiday home is located south of Arezzo in a peaceful location, ideal for taking walks through the natural surroundings. However, it is also just 3.5 km from a small commercial centre with basic food shops, and horseback riding is also available nearby. Arezzo, the setting for Roberto Benigni's "Life is Beautiful," is a city characterized by a beautiful array of architectural styles, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month features a popular antique fair, while annually the town hosts a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire to watch "knights" charge at a target (representing the Saracen king). The location of this holiday home is also well situated to day trips throughout Tuscany, including nearby Cortona and Lake Trasimeno, as well as Florence and Siena.

Customer Reviews

This was a fabulous experience! The villa was very charming and perfect for our week's stay - lots of room and great kitchen for our cooking experiences. Location was ideal for seeing lots of sights. A car is necessary. Loved it! Nadia was outstanding - we felt like members of her family. She is so very caring of our needs. Even spent time with me at the hospital while I had stitches taken out from prior accident. I can't say enough about her!
Enjoyed Most:
The uniqueness, space, privacy, cleanliness. It was charming!
Enjoyed Least:
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful! Was able to walk to church service on Sunday.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Were so. Needed to drive.
Nadia met us and we followed her.
Check In Out:
Both were very easy.

Very peaceful with beautiful views. A great base for touring Tuscany. Our hosts were wonderful. A wonderful conversion of the old mill into a residence.
Enjoyed Most:
Our hosts Nadia and Roberto made us feel welcome and at home. Enjoyed mornings and evenings on the terrace.
Surrounding Area:
Tuscany is beautiful. Small hill towns close and larger towns in easy driving distance. The immediate neighborhood was great for walks and morning runs. Enjoyed the view and bells from the church just up the hill.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town is Arezzo. Walking on the main road would have been tricky.
Tips or Restaurants:
RentVillas assisted us in arranging for a grocery pre-stocking. Very helpful!
Directions were good and helped when the GPS was a bit off.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out were very easy.

Truly wonderful. The warmest, most welcoming, most comfortable and delightful accommodations I've ever had in Europe.
Enjoyed Most:
Charming, beautiful, unpretentious, comfortable villa, with great spaces to relax indoors and out great location for exploring Tuscany incredibly warm and welcoming villa owners with whom we became friends.
Enjoyed Least:
I can't think of anything we didn't like.
Surrounding Area:
Gorgeous, quiet, peaceful setting, with historic churches, country lanes, trails through woods and mountains for running and hiking, while having easy access to nearby groceries, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Tiny villages nearby, most without real town center. Ulmo, with some businesses, grocery, was just a couple of miles. Narrow, fairly high-volume traffic road to it would not have been conducive to walking, but was an easy 5-minute drive.
Special Experiences:
We had a welcome dinner and grocery pre-stocking, from Nadia, the villa owner, both of which were perfect and beyond our wildest expectations. Chef Elisa gave us a cooking lesson a couple of days later, and prepared an incredible dinner. And Chef Francesco came and prepared a delicious dinner our last night in the villa. All were fabulous, and we'd recommend them without hesitation.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing specific. The villa had everything we needed, and supplies of all kinds were very nearby. We ate in many good restaurants in Arezzo, Siena, Pisa, Assisi, and small hill towns all over Tuscany (and a bit of Umbria), but enjoyed cooking at home in our villa, and the special meals prepared for us there.
The directions we were given were thorough and excellent. We did use a GPS, and I can't imagine doing the exploration of Tuscany we did without one.
Check In Out:
It couldn't have been easier, smoother, or friendlier.
