- About The Experience
-
This beautiful villa is located next to a famous winery (with a good restaurant) and is close to Florence. It is a good location for other day trips throughout Tuscany. The villa has a private swimming pool and is great for a large group of friends and families. There is another villa with pool on the same estate, Villa Brigida, which is also available for rental.
- Location Description
-
The villa is located two kilometers from the nearest town of Santa Brigida where there are shops, restaurants, a post office, church, and pharmacy. Fiesole, just to the north, has a history that goes straight back to Etruscan times, evidenced in the remains of ancient city walls, and in the middle ages was actually a rival of Florence for power until it was sacked. Today it is a "magical" place, famed for its part in E.M. Forster's "A Room With A View." You can find the remains of Roman baths and a theatre, as well as a medieval castle (restored in 1865). Of course the primary attraction of the greater area is the majestic city of Florence, world-renowned for its art and culture. Go here to shop the Ponte Vecchio, marvel at the statue of David, or tour the wonders of the Uffizi Gallery. Other great day trip destinations include San Gimignano, Arezzo, and Siena.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
Very pretty location. Very nice set up with bathrooms for almost every bedroom.
Enjoyed Most:
The large rooms, large dining room table with plenty of space for large groups to gather in. Bedrooms very nice size, bathrooms nice.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of appliance plugs in kitchen. Unreliable WiFi. Location more remote than expected.
Surrounding Area:
Closeness to Santa Brigida, very nice people there who were very helpful. The wonderful pizza place in Santa Brigida. Also the restaurants in and around the area. The winery close by to visit and tour. Great wines.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Santa Brigida was closest. Several of us walked there daily and it felt very convenient.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rent small cars. We requested 4 passenger vans and got 8 passenger vans which were rough to drive on narrow roads. Lots of restaurants all around.
Directions:
Directions are great but no one should visit the area without a GPS. We had one for all three vans.
Check In Out:
Went very well.

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
Great view.
Enjoyed Least:
WiFi was in separate building (as stated in the description) and was slow. Lack of power outlets was inconvenient in the kitchen. The washing machine is small and only has instructions in Italian. The cycle in slow and, as stated in description, there is no dryer. Editor's Note: Washing machines in Europe are energy/water efficient, and therefore slow. Dryers, unless indicated, are not available--also due to energy reasons. October, 2015.
Surrounding Area:
View and close proximity to the small winery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Santa Brigida is the nearest town. It's walkable, but only for individuals in excellent physical condition - uphill on narrow mountain roads - 4 of 12 people elected to walk to town several mornings for coffee.
Tips or Restaurants:
Determine which restaurants are open on which days - that is more of a challenge than the quality of food served. We rented vans as we had a large group and needed to get to the train station for day trips; the vans was inconvenient for travel on narrow roads. Smaller vehicles are recommended.
Directions:
Used GPS with Latitude/Longitude provided. Worked fine.
Check In Out:
It was fairly straightforward.

Overall:
We had a absolutely fabulous time. The villa was beautiful and charming.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was absolutely beautiful, with olive groves and a great view of Castle Del Trebbio and the surrounding Tuscan hillsides. Its proximity to Santa Brigida and the Seici train station was a bonus.
Enjoyed Least:
The fact that there was no clothes dryer (as we'd read in the description) and the refrigerator was inadequate for 12 to 14 guests. Also, we needed more towels than were provided.
Surrounding Area:
The many hillside towns, gorgeous vistas, wonderful restaurants, the winery just steps away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Santa Brigida was about 2 miles from the villa. A very nice walk...mostly uphill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Yes, the winery's restaurant was very good, also, fantastic food at IL Pozzo in Cortona...don't miss it if you go there.
Directions:
A GPS is essential for travel to the Villa and for daily excursions to nearby towns. The coordinates given were right on and we did not have a problem finding the Villa.
Check In Out:
It was very easy. Alberto is a great host and was available to answer questions we had.
