Overall:
Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at this property. It was beautiful, quiet, close to many things that we wanted to see, and a perfect mix of relaxation and beauty surrounding us.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool, the views, the close proximity to many wineries and restaurants, and the feeling of Tuscany. The house was clean.
Enjoyed Least:
It was not stocked as we expected. When staying in a property for an entire week, I expected that we would find things like trash bags and toilet paper. There were also a few things in one of the bathrooms that didn't work properly and required repair.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the little town of Castellina, as well as the close driving distances to many charming Tuscan towns such as Lucca, Siena, Monteriggione, and others. The winery on the property as well as many others close by was also a highlight.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castellina in Chianti. No, this was not in walking distance. We did have to drive by car to get to restaurants and shopping. There were several small towns within an easy driving distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stop at the store before checking in to purchase things such as toilet paper, a sponge for the kitchen, trash bags, and the other necessities such as coffee, cream, and something for breakfast.
Directions:
We did use a GPS, but that brought us to the main villa on the property, which was not our rental. We had to connect with a person who guided us to our villa. It would be helpful to provide GPS coordinates to the place where renters will meet the person who will assist them with check-in. In this case, that was at the winery.
Check In Out:
It would have been helpful to have the direct phone number of the person who met us. We had the phone number of Francesca, but she was actually out of town.

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rosalia 2. This villa is a rustic farmhouse found at the end of a beautiful tree lined private driveway.
It was very kind of the owners to accommodate a late arrival due to our late train.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in Castellina in Chianti is lovely.
The private pool is perfect - it became an extension of the house for us daily. The pool was serviced each morning so it was clean and tidy. This was the best part of the farmhouse. Also, the front table chairs at the entryway exterior is a nice touch, we enjoyed morning coffee outside daily.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen could use a bit of a refresh - it's very dated in terms of the table chairs, curtains, undersink drapery covering. This could be spruced up a little bit.
Surrounding Area:
Castellina is a beautiful town with lots of history and gorgeous views. People were very friendly. Restaurants offered lovely atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. The villa (farmhouse) is very close (about a 7 minute easy drive) to the town center. The views from the farmhouse were gorgeous.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castellina in Chianti - 7 minute easy drive. I don't think this would be a very easy walk due to the narrowness of the road and the speed at which some of the local drivers take the curves. Parking in town was pretty easy.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owners left a great portfolio in the farmhouse listing good places to eat. We loved
(1) Tre Portes (delicious pasta, pizza)
(2) Antica Trattoria (delicious pasta meat ions)
(3) Taverna Squarcialupi (Florentine steak)
For your first morning, you may want to bring some coffee with you. There is a stove top espresso pot but you'll need to bring your own ground coffee to use. You may also want to bring pool towels.
Directions:
The GPS coordinates were very helpful. As there are multiple buildings, we were confused as to which building we should be going to. Upon arriving onto the main location, you pull towards a large villa, a note stating "make a sharp left turn - almost a U-turn into the parking lot with the Virgin Mary altar at the entrance. This is the direct sales (Vedita Directa) location where you will pick up the keys.
Check In Out:
Rosalia 2 noted there was a washing machine onsite however we eventually found the disconnected washer out in the pool changing room and it was not functioning. We eventually met with the Direct Sales staff who allowed us to pay 7.50 Euro per load to do laundry at their location.

Overall:
Had a wonderful time.
Enjoyed Most:
The 360 degree magnificent views.
Abundant wild life including Roe deer, families of European boars, birds including doves, Eurasian Jays, Cuckoos, pheasants and their bird song each AM and PM, all on the property.
Delightfully quaint setting.
Enjoyed Least:
The onsite washing machine was non functional and the offered option was for 7.50 Euros per load off site.
Despite these issues we would gladly stay here again.
Surrounding Area:
The scenic beauty.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castellina in Chianti; 5 km away so not really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We cooked in every day.
Bring mosquito repellant.
Directions:
We used our own GPS with Italian map download and would strongly advise same for all.
Check In Out:
Francesca was delightful on check-out at the villa.
