The borgo is located two kilometers from the town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno. Although small, the center of town features shops, restaurants, and places to buy groceries. Rich in history, Tuoro sul Trasimeno arose on the same site where 16,000 Roman soldiers lost their lives in 217 BC by the army of Hannibal the Carthaginian. A theatrical reconstruction of the battle, titled Mission Hannibal, is held every evening where you, the spectator, can become one of the protagonists as the actors take you on an adventure journeying through the series of events. For a more lighthearted activity, take a quick drive on a sunny day to the beaches of Lake Trasimeno where you can participate in water sports. At the end of the day, eat at one of the restaurants featuring fresh fish or homemade pasta. The ancient Etruscan town of Cortona is also a short drive away and is full of art, history, and culture. Here you can tour frescoed churches from the 13th century; explore the original city walls, and visit an art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You are also sure to find ancient tombs dating back to the second century BC, restaurants featuring delicious Tuscan dishes, and plenty of shops ranging from antiques and crafts, to wines and olive oils. There is also the possibility of taking day trips to Perugia, Assisi, and Siena.
