This villa is located just less than five kilometers from San Donato in Collina, a small Italian village with a post office, grocery shops, butcher, and pizzeria. San Donato is located in the Florentine hills, very close to the city itself. After driving for about 20 miles, you will reach Florence, a majestic city world-renowned for its art and culture. Go here to shop the Ponte Vecchio, marvel at the statue of David, step back in time at the Pitti Palace, or tour the wonders of the Uffizi Gallery. Of course, you could also simply relax in the Piazza della Signoria with a book or a refreshing drink. Of course you can also hop in the car and wander through the Chianti, tasting locally made wine and investigating many of the famed hill towns. Try Greve in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti. Day trips to other well-know Tuscan locales, such as Siena and San Gimignano, are also possible.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
A wonderful two weeks was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire family of 20 people aged from 4 years up to 70 years. Facilities were excellent in every respect and assistance was readily at hand with any questions we posed to Roberta who was fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
Views from all upstairs rooms were amazing as the Villa sits on top of the hill amongst the Olive groves and vineyards.
Enjoyed Least:
The swimming pool was excellently appointed but would be more usable with solar heating. The kids did venture in on the hottest days but the water temperature was too low to be comfortable even for them.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery and ambience of the Tuscan region was the best and the relative isolation of the Villa made this a peaceful haven to return to after visits to the key centres within a days drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Donato in Collina is not far away but not walking distance unless you are very fit and had no shopping to carry. Stores are quaint but produce limited. Coffee is excellent at all shops in this village and fresh local produce when available was beautiful including the bakery.
Tips or Restaurants:
Absolutely essential to have a car as the shopping could not be managed any other way for such a large group. Shopping at the coop.com in Regnano sul'Arno was excellent for all our needs including local wines at good prices. The restaurant 100 Palms is quite close by and has excellent food supported by great service and wine ion advice from Daniel.
Travel by train to Florence is easy but parking at the Regnano sul'Arno train station is quite difficult especially with the large people movers (vans) that we had hired.
Check In Out:
All went smoothly as Roberta was well equipped and experienced albeit that her English is sometimes limited but her efforts to assist in every way were very compelling.

Overall:
The property was perfect for a big group, clean and neat. We enjoyed the new pool and the perfect kitchen to handle a large group as well. The living areas were great and there were a stunning number of bathrooms - almost every bedroom had their own - which was a surprise for a location like this. Proximity to Florence was good.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool is perfect for a family retreat with kids. The large kitchen. The rooms are a good size and plenty of room for a big group. Formal dining room was great for a big group. The number of bathrooms. Proximity to Florence was great. Rignano Sull'Arno has a good Coop.it where you can get groceries easily and easy access to train.
Enjoyed Least:
I guess it would be nice if the table and chairs upstairs in the outdoor dining area were upgraded a little but they were functional and fine. They just weren't probably up to the level of everything else in the place. They weren't luxurious. Just straightforward plastic tables and chairs.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful. Great restaurant nearby 100 palms for dining. Not touristy. That was great. And the town - not a touristy area which was wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rignano Sull'Arno.
No it was not nearby. You definitely need a car to stay in this place. It's not the distance, it's the hills plus the distance. You really need a car to get into town and to the train station.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bug spray essential.
For great dining out (little pricier) 100 Palms is great and it's walking distance.
For grocery shopping there is a great Coop grocery store in Rignano Sull'Arno.
The pool is wonderful.
Definitely need a car to stay here I would suggest.
Directions:
I found my way with GPS.

Overall:
Excellent.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful country views. Tranquility.
Enjoyed Least:
Absolute need for autos for each family.
Not convenient for walking or bilking to any shopping.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery. Farming - olive groves and vineyards
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rignano Sull'arno for shaoping and trains.
Not walkable.
Two closer villages but no shopping
Tips or Restaurants:
Separate car for each family is a necessity. Insect repellant.
The Cento Palmi Restaurant was very close, good food and very family friendly if you have small children.
Check In Out:
Check in and checkout were very smooth. Roberta is very nice and helpful
