About The Experience

If you're going to rent a villa in Tuscany, this lovely country house is a great selection. You and your group won't be able to stop yourselves from spending most of your time out on the terraces, taking in the wonderful countryside views from this Tuscany accommodation. Of course, you could also do the same thing from the pool, surrounded by grassy lawn and patio furniture. When you do drag yourselves away from this Tuscany vacation rental, you'll love driving in to Arezzo to enjoy the local culture.

Location Description

This lovely villa located near Arezzo is closest to the village of Subbiano, a characteristic Tuscan town on the left bank of the Arno. Here you will find a Monday morning market, and if you're traveling in September you may be in time to join with the locals in their celebration of the grape festival, with product tasting and other traditional activities. The Museo dell Casa Contadina (farmhouse museum) is worth a visit, and you should also keep on the lookout for the remains of numerous water mills along the banks of the Arno. However, you'll probably spend most of your local hours exploring Arezzo, the charming town used as the backdrop for Roberto Benigni's "Life is Beautiful." Once one of the most important Etruscan cities, today Arezzo is beautiful for an array of architecture spanning centuries, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheatre and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month brings a popular antique fair, while annually there is a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire and knights representing each part of the city charge at a target representing a Saracen king. The area is also well-situated for day trips throughout Tuscany. Florence can be reached in 30 minutes by train from Arezzo; a train to Rome takes an hour and ten minutes.

Nearby Attractions: For wine lovers, the Terre di Arezzo wine trail, a more than 200 km long route crossing through the Province of Arezzo, is a fantastic way to become familiar with the wines of Tuscany. This trail passes through the growers of Chianti Colli Aretini DOCG, Cortona DOC, Colli dell‘Etruria Centrale DOC, Colli Etruria Centrale DOC and Vinsanto del Chianti DOC. Wine is not the only thing to be found along this trail! Near Cavriglia is the Fineschi Rose Garden with over 8,500 varieties of roses as well as the Cavriglia Park in the heart of the Chiantigiani mountains. Admire the Cennina Castle (Valdambra) and Gargonza Gastle (Monte S. Savino) along the route or any of the beautiful ancient churches and Etruscan and Roman remains.

Absolutely amazing!! It was dream vacation at the most beautiful and comfortable villa.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved everything!! If I had to give you my top favorite things about the property it would be all the areas that our group could congregate and enjoy each other while sharing a bottle of wine. Absolutely loved having dinner at the outdoor table that overlooked the olive trees and vineyard. Another huge positive was that every room had its own bathroom.
Enjoyed Least:
My mom and I shared the downstairs bedroom, the only downside was that you could hear everything from the room above (conversations, footsteps, etc)
Surrounding Area:
Was so peaceful and simply breathtaking!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano, no it is not walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa has everything you could possibly need or want.

Valentina and her family made our stay absolutely amazing. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. We had 26 people rotate in and out of the property over 3 weeks in late August through mid September. Valentina worked with us on a few group meals and she was flexible on cleaning as guests left and arrived. This property is in a great location and was the perfect spot for our Italian adventure. The villa has amazing views and for the most part was very tranquil and quiet.
Enjoyed Most:
The views and the layout of the villa for a party of 10 with multiple families. The helpfulness and flexibility of Valentina and her family. The harvest was going on when we were there and that made the stay even more special.
Enjoyed Least:
In the mornings the many dogs in the valley can make quite a racket. You get used to it.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding small towns have beautiful castles and idyllic views. The villa is very close to Arezzo so it is very convenient to the train station (15 minute drive). The location allows good access to Rome, Florence and Sienna by car or train. The fact that we were out in the country allowed everyone to escape the big city and just relax when they wanted to.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano was the closest town. Not within walking distance. A car is really a must for this property.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a supply of good wood matches for the stove. Pick up extra toilet paper at the store. We arranged for the villa to be pre-stocked with local wine and that was a good call. The wine is amazing and very inexpensive.
Direction were perfect. Not a single person got lost.
Check In Out:
Valentina was easy to contact and even let us occupy the property a little early as she was delayed. All went perfectly. It was also very easy to move in and out multiple groups of people during our stay.
