About The Experience

Relaxing and serene, this farmhouse apartment in Chianti is an ideal vacation spot for a couple, perhaps with a child! Situated on a large estate amidst woods, vineyards, and century-old olive groves, this Chianti farmhouse apartment for rent is always picturesque no matter what time of year you come. When you’re not spending time in the swimming pool, having a barbecue, or taking advantage of the outdoor pizza oven, this self-catering accommodation in Chianti is in the perfect location to take day trips to San Gimignano, Florence, and Siena!

Location Description

The farmhouse apartment is located two kilometers from Romita, which features a grocery store. The medieval village of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, located on the road between Siena and Florence, is four kilometers from the property and dates back to the Roman Ages. In addition to shops, restaurants, and markets, Tavarnelle has a rich heritage and many ancient buildings. Each July, a summer festival is held featuring live music and theater shows as well as markets offering tastes of local recipes and dishes. San Gimignano is also great place to go for a day trip. As one of the most visited towns in Tuscany, it is known for its rich history dating back to the Etruscan times and is full of life and things to do. Popular attractions include the famous towers, the 12th century Duomo, the People’s Palace, and several museums dedicated to artwork and archeology. There are also plenty of wine tasting tours, art galleries, shops, and delicious restaurants. Numerous celebrations and gatherings are held every year including a music festival featuring theater, ballet, and opera performances, and a Medieval Harvest festival where the people of San Gimignano dress up as knights and play medieval games and have tournaments. Naturally, you’ll also want to take day trips to the other famous Tuscan cities such as Florence, Siena, and Arezzo.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We loved this place. We loved the beauty, areas to walk, small town nearby, great local restaurants and convenience to cities.
Enjoyed Most:
Views, local restaurants, convenience to Siena and Florence.
Enjoyed Least:
We could not use lots of facilities due to the weather and the heating charge applied (towel rack heater was on when we arrived).
Surrounding Area:
Great little town with wonderful food and friendly people. Great day trips to surrounding towns with wonderful views.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Tavarnelle was about a mile away down dirt driveway, roads...we walked it 4 or 5 times.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Fattoria restaurant is wonderful...went there 4 times. Everything fresh and people are wonderful. Borgo Antico also great...went there twice. Osteria is in town .. local food and great outside deck..went here twice. Every morning we went to a bar/pasticceria near the end of the driveway/road across from the soccer fields...hot pastries and great coffee.
Directions:
We used GPS. Keep in mind that the road is dirt and key road signs are small.
Check In Out:
If traveling in low season, consider the daily heating charge and inquire about how to turn on/off the heated towel rack.

Enjoyed Most:
The surrounding country. The new kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
The very, very dusty (3km) rough dirt access road we were forced to take to go anywhere. No signage. To get there, a local farmer's real estate agent daughter acted as a guide to the essentially unmarked property.
Surrounding Area:
It is beautiful--top notch meals in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Tavarnelle Val di Pesa--about 7km away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Plan on a car wash.
Directions:
Did not use GPS. More signage would have been appreciated.

Overall:
Marvelous!
Enjoyed Most:
The spectacular view! The grounds were well-kept and the roses were beautiful.
Surrounding Area:
The quiet and peacefulness of the area. No hustle or bustle. A nice, slow pace.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The towns were certainly not within walking distance. The only thing within walking distance was the beautiful pool.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a good cork screw as theirs is too big for most bottles of wine. Don't bother with the restaurant at the corner where you turn as we found it to be expensive.
