About The Experience
Although there may be many steps leading up to this vacation house in Italy, it is definitely worth the climb! Located high in the town of Positano will have wonderful views over the surrounding rooftops and sea, which can be seen from your private balcony. This self-catering accommodation along the Amalfi Coast has many windows and offers lots of light. It’s also important to note that you’ll be within walking distance (down and up!) of the beach.
Location Description

The property is located in the upper part of Positano and is 100 meters from a road that houses restaurants, markets, coffee shops and more. If you continue on this road for about 600 meters, you will reach the center of town where there are more restaurants, shops, ice creameries, markets, a bank, and post office. From the town center is a pedestrian path of 600 meters, which will lead to Spiaggia Grande Beach. There are also bus stops in town that can take you up and down to other beautiful towns along the coast, including Amalfi. The local bus stop is within 100 meters of the house. Amalfi is a town that dates back to the 6th century and was once an important trading center with historical and medieval architecture throughout the town. The main sites include the Duomo, in Amalfi's center, the cathedral of Sant' Andrea, which dates back to the 11th century, and the Cloister of Paradise. There is also a museum dedicated to the works of Morelli and a museum where you can view artifacts of Amalfi's long, and interesting history. During the summer months, there are daily ferries leaving from Positano to Capri, Sorrento, and Naples. Whereas parking is difficult here, it is easy to rely on public transportation and walking. If you must bring a car, there is a public garage in the area which charges about 20 Euros a day. It is possible to reserve a space in advance.

Please Note: While the Amalfi Coast is beautiful and charming, it is also steep, with many uphill and downhill stairs and walkways. In general, it is an area that is not kind to those of us with knee or mobility issues. This should be considered before booking a property in this area.

Nearby Attractions: shops, restaurants, cafes, markets, the beach, bus stop, Amalfi (Duomo, ancient cathedral, museums, ferries), Ravello, Sorrento, Naples airport.

Customer Reviews

We enjoyed it very much.
Enjoyed Most:
Enjoyed Least:
109 steps up and down from street to main floor of the villa.
Surrounding Area:
View, food, atmosphere, shops.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano. We walked the" Path of Gods" from Nocelle to Praiano... 4 hour hike down to Praiano. Definitely an experience not for people that don't like heights. Was a bit scary at times since there are no guardrails and all the steps up and down are rocks and stones.
Tips or Restaurants:
Flashlight, good walking shoes, smaller suitcase, loofah, body wash.

The views were amazing. The location in Fornillo was amazing. It felt like we were living like locals! There are 5 great restaurants within a 10-minute walk.
Enjoyed Most:
The view. Having 2 bathrooms.
Enjoyed Least:
We didn't like the 80 steps from the road to the unit and the 25 steps to get to the living area, which limited us to leaving the apartment just once a day. We feel the apartment would benefit from updating.
Surrounding Area:
We loved it, great location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano. Not in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
All of the restaurants are great and Ray and I are foodies.
We used a car service from Napoli; he knew exactly where he was going.

This is the third time we have rented from RentVillas. The properties always look just like the photos and we are always greeted warmly and given proper directions to use the villa.
Enjoyed Most:
The view!
Enjoyed Least:
The steps! They were really difficult in the beginning, especially dragging the luggage up but by the end they got a lot easier. I would recommend a working flashlight for after dark.
Surrounding Area:
Excellent location, could walk to a few restaurants and a grocery easily. We really liked the local spot Il Fornillo for pizza or a light bite. Cappuccinos and croissants were a quick walk up the hill. It was about a 20 minute down to the beach area for us.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano and yes, it was walkable. Only took a taxi once all week. The internal bus is right outside the door, but we never used it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be sure and go to Next2. ( a five minute walk) We tried them all and it was definitely the top one!
The driver took us right to the front steps.
Check In Out:
It worked great!
