- About The Experience
This idyllic farmhouse near a small village with shops is just a ten minute drive from the center of Lucca. Families will not only love its convenient location, which makes day trips to Pisa and Florence easy, but its quiet position in the countryside. A private pool will keep everyone entertained while its comfortable furnishings are perfect for relaxing.
- Location Description
The property is located one kilometer from the small village of Guamo where there are a few shops and restaurants. Lucca, which is only five kilometers away, is worth enjoying simply for its medieval charm, but there are also a number of interesting sights to visit. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130-foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work! Day trips can include Pisa, Viareggio, and Florence.

Peace and Quiet
This is a very pleasant property, with a gorgeous mountain view and attractive grounds. We have a very relaxing time.
The property fit our needs very well, and was well equipped. I hadn't paid attentionto the fact that housekeeping was included, and it was a real blessing Simona was cheerful and competent, and rescued us from the complexities of Tuscan recycling. Our grandsons spent hours in the pool.
We really liked everything about it could have used a little more information on use of the oven and stove.
The area was very quiet and pleasant, as well as near Lucca, a very enjoyable city to visit.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Guamo is long and narrow; the supermarket and a restaurant were walkable for the young and agile among us. Major shopping would be difficult without a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would suggest shopping before arrival, we had to stock up on basics. A good nearby (but hard to find) restaurant is La Cecca. In Lucca we like Lucca in Tavola for casual, and Buca di Sant'Antonio for a splurge.
Our son and family used their phones and GPS. My husband and I found that the written directions assumed we were coming from the autostrada; we rented our car in Lucca so did not approach that way. I think it's easier to proceed down Sottomonte past the Coop to Via Nuova di Guamo (though the intersection is narrow), and then proceed to Via Nuova in Badia di Cantignano, a small left turn.
Check In Out:
Mauro was wonderfully helpful both at check in and check out. We very much enjoyed meeting him and learning a little more about the property.
Sun-filled days with family and friends. Loved the veranda, which was where we gathered 85% of the time. The hayloft room, veranda, grounds, and pool were great and although the property had some drawbacks, they didn't stop us from having a grand time!
The grounds, setting, veranda, pool and hayloft. Location was convenient.
The owner checked us in and he was very cordial!
One bathroom had low water pressure in the shower and all of them needed a good cleaning. The ground floor of the farmhouse was musty and damp. Thank goodness the owner gave us a dehumidifier, as it drew out a lot of the ground floor dampness in the bedroom and sitting room. Editor's Note: Due to heavy rains in spring 2014 there was some excessive dampness. Drainage has been improved (winter, 2015) and all floors have been deep cleaned. The house has a water pressure meter which monitors water pressure; clients should advise the owner of any reduction in pressure. April, 2015
Peaceful! Rolling hills, proximity to wonderful vineyards, proximity to Lucca, Pisa, Cinque Terre and others. We drove to Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Guamo. We could walk to the grocery store, bicycle rental and pastry shop. It was very convenient!
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a mosquitoe net, salt, pepper, sugar, dish washing soap, diswasher detergent etc. It was a drag not to have some of these very basic items on stock at the house. We purchased all of the above....hoping the owner would keep them for the next group.
BRING OR RENT A GPS! It's essential!
The directions from the Pisa airport were fine. We're experienced travelers and finding the Pisa airport upon our return was a nightmare. It's poorly marked and the airport signage is POOR.
Check In Out:
It was smooth. The cash deposit was hefty, but it was easily returned directly from the owner.
