About The Experience
From this self-catering accommodation in Tuscany, you will enjoy the experience of living on a working farm that produces its own wine and olive oil. Not only can you sample these products from the comfort of your own home, but visit the nearby villages and pick up some food to go with them! The farmhouse, which is also near Lucca, is ideal for a small family who can enjoy the views and the private swimming pool.
Location Description

An unpaved road through the woods leads to the small village of San Gennaro where there is a restaurant and small grocery shop. Leppato, with more shops and restaurants, is two kilometers away while the center of Lucca is 12 km. Lucca is worth enjoying simply for its medieval charm, but there are also a number of interesting sights to visit. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130-foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work! Day trips can include Pisa, Viareggio, and Florence.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Wonderfull combination of privacy and proximity. Working vineyard was a real plus!
Enjoyed Most:
Proximity to so much but private enough to really relax and just enjoy spectacular views!
Enjoyed Least:
Not for physically challenged as its hillside location could be an issue for non physically fit individuals.
Surrounding Area:
Great scenery and incredible history!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucca was walking distance and beautiful.
Tips or Restaurants:
Property was well equipped and close to village store so shopping was easy and convenient.
Directions:
We did use GPS for day trips but the property was close enough to the village for daily trips for shopping and eats.

Overall:
The experience was wonderful. It was more than we expected--the views, the vineyards, the narrow roads, the people, the pool, and of course, the wine.
Enjoyed Most:
The fact it was by itself, away from everything in a calm and bucolic setting. I like tranquil settings with nothing to do but relax and drink wine and look at the small valley of olive trees and grape vines.
Enjoyed Least:
The one and only thing--and I mean only thing--is that it would have been nice to have had more than one queen size bed. That is all I would change.
Surrounding Area:
Walking the roads looking at the different properties. Looking at the grapevines laden with large clumps of grapes; we were there a few days before harvest.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gennaro was a 10-minute walk through the woods. A clean quiet town with cobblestone streets. The small cafe was adequate for your morning espresso and capuccino or a rustic pannino and beer for lunch. Very nice.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do your grocery shopping at the Esscalunga on your way to Lucca. Their prices were the best. We found decent vino di casa on sale from 1.78 to 2.45 Euro. Go to Lucca and spend the day within the walls. There is a market of sorts on Wednesday as well.
Directions:
GPS did not work for us in this instance. The directions from RentVillas were spot on.
Check In Out:
Marco was very accommodating.
