About The Experience
This lovely, restored stone villa dates back to the 15th century, making it older than many of the impressive sights you’ll no doubt visit in the must-see town of Cortona, just a few kilometers away. It’s an ideal base for exploring Cortona’s cultural riches, and the surrounding landscape of ancient villages and castles. This villa has great views and a private pool. It’s big enough for a large family or a group of friends.
Location Description

This property is just a few kilometers from the town of Cortona, an ancient Etruscan hilltop town that is full of art, history, and culture that’s one of the area’s most popular destinations. Tour frescoed churches from the 13th century, explore the original city walls, and then visit an art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You are also sure to find restaurants featuring delicious Tuscan dishes and ancient tombs dating back to the second century BC. There are plenty of shops selling antiques, crafts, wines, and olive oils, as well as a bank, post office, and pharmacy. A short drive away is one of the largest lakes in Italy, Lake Trasimeno. The towns around the lake have a multitude of castles – there are even some in the lake itself, on its three islands. Excellent day trip destinations include Arezzo, Perugia, and Siena.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We loved our villa! The home was a vision of what, in our minds, Tuscany would look like. It was so comfortable and perfect for our stay. Louisa was darling and so helpful on our check-in as well as available for questions during the week. We loved the owner, Isabella and her darling Mamma and their fabulous restaurant in Cortona. Overall, it was a delightful stay in a beautiful and historical country.
Enjoyed Most:
The fabulous views! Each morning was a gift to look out of this wonderful villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Unfortunately, the mosquitoes decided to land this year and we would have loved to have spent more time outside on the beautiful grounds but, that was nature, not the fault of the home.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the area! We loved Cortona the most by far and felt like we were in a movie.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Pergo was the closest and no, it was not a walk. It was necessary to have a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was very well stocked, bathroom items were furnished. Thank goodness they had one European hair dryer because our converters just didn't work well with any kind of power. If possible, one for each room would be dream of dreams. We got pretty good at passing them around on a "hair schedule". Definitely bring good walking shoes because the walking is great, but uneven pavers, ancient streets, and steep hills are a challenge for pretty shoes.
Directions:
GPS didn't work on our phones in Italy.
Check In Out:
Excellent process. Louisa did a great job and it was so nice having her speak wonderful English. Then Isabella was just a doll on the check-out. We had a last night goodbye dinner at their restaurant in the theater of Cortona. It truly was a fabulous experience. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was picture perfect!
