Overall:
Villa Levanto is located in a beautiful, peaceful, private location overlooking the Mediterranean coast as well as the coastal area of Levanto. The villa is quite rustic and not luxurious, but it's charming.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful patio which has a fantastic view of Levanto and parts of the Mediterranean Coast.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathrooms were rustic but functional. The kitchen is rather basic.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Levanto is charming and not overrun with tourists. There is an excellent train services from Levanto to all of the other towns along the Mediterranean Coast. Taking the train is much easier than trying to drive and park.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Levanto is a 15-minute walk down the hill from the Villa Levanto into town but a 20 minute walk up the hill from the town to the villa. You have the option of walking on the road or you can save a little time by choosing to use the many rather uneven, steep steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just be prepared for a rustic property located up a steep hill in a beautiful location that provides tranquility and wonderful views.
Directions:
Just warn drivers that the access road is steep and narrow with several hair-pin bends.
Check In Out:
Carlos is the most friendly host, housekeeper, and odd job man. A truly delightful person who will take care of your every need.

Overall:
We had an amazing time at this property.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the peace and quiet, the house itself - which is gorgeous - and the surrounding privacy and gardens. It was easy to contact the owner, Virginia and she made herself available to us.
Enjoyed Least:
Unfortunately the WiFi only worked for one day, but there is free WiFi at the visitor's center. Although Carlos did a great job cleaning for us, we did not like that we had to haul our own garbage/recyclables out to the containers on the road. Editor's Note: It is local custom for renters to dispose of their own garbage and recyclables in the nearby receptacles. WiFi was temporarily unavailable at the property; service has been restored. May, 2014
Surrounding Area:
Loved the town of Levanto. Easy to navigate, great food and shops, and kind people. Easy to get to all the other towns and we also loved renting bikes and getting to Bonasolla.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Bonasolla. We loved going there. Also loved hiking the CT and swimming at Monterosso.
Tips or Restaurants:
If no WiFi is available it is easy to get free WiFi at the visitor center. House is wonderful and we LOVED hiring the local cook, Lorella. She made amazing meals and was fantastic.
Directions:
Directions were very good and we did not need a GPS.
Check In Out:
It all went well.

Overall:
This was a beautiful, quiet, fragrant place. I appreciated the real art on the walls, the size of the kitchen, the many bathrooms with working toilets and showers and the spectacular view. Levanto was big enough to be useful and small enough to be friendly and not at all touristy. I preferred it over the Cinque Terre towns, which were close enough for us to hike to and shop in. It's a steep and rather dangerous drive up to the top, so it isn't for the faint of heart behind the wheel.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved how close it was to hike to Levanto and Bonasolla. It was quiet and gorgeous. My favourite thing was the smell in April orange tree, mimosa, lilac, calla lily in full bloom - really incredible.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of WiFi availability and garbage disposal. Editor's Note: See comments above from group member "Anita, April".
Nearby Events or Locales:
Levanto was within 10 minutes walking distance, as was the gorgeous beach and good restaurants and amenities and tourist info. It's a steep hike and I didn't feel safe doing this path at night. I wouldn't want to do it if I was someone with unsure footing.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car is essential.
Directions:
I used their charming directions. Easy.
Check In Out:
Virginia was relaxed and lovely.
