Greve, the capitol of the Chianti region is just 500 meters walking distance and has shops, nice restaurants and bars. In ten minutes you will reach the main square, Piazza Matteotti, a lively place where festivals are regularly held. Don’t miss the famous shops of Greve including Antica Macelleria Falorni, a Tuscan butcher shop that has been in the same spot since 1729, and Bottega dell’Artigianato, a shop specialized in hand-woven baskets and products made in olive wood. Other daytrips include the artistic and medieval cities of Florence, Siena and San Gimignano as well as the charming Chianti villages of Castellina, Gaiole, Radda and Panzano.

Nearby Attractions: The Chianti region is known for its “Chianti Classico” wine. Greve in Chianti, with its triangular shaped piazza has a great wine museum. Panzano’s old town is perfect for taking walks and the town has several wine bars and restaurants which offer wine tasting. In Castellina in Chianti, walk Via delle Volte, an underground tunnel around the city. Our experience at the property was easy and relatively smooth
Enjoyed Most:
The view the property had from either side of the building was amazing
Surrounding Area:
The entire piazza, the hills, mountains, valleys, the surrounding villages, the shops, the restaurants, even the grocery store. Every part of this area is truly amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in walking distance, albeit a very hilly climb back up to the residence, to Greve. This is a town that I will be returning to.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants except for one were delicious in Greve. We actually enjoyed food shopping at Coop. I had forgotten what a tomato or potato or string beans tasted like. Our food here doesn't compare to their food at all. You may want to have Netflix on an iPad because watching CNN all the time gets very boring in the evening. Remember, you're tired in the evening after walking, touring all day. I believe you should rent a car, otherwise, you have to take the bus to Florence, and leave to go anywhere from there using public transportation. The highway signs are easy to follow. If it's your first time in Italy, you may want to use guided tours to make sure you see all that's important. Let's face it, vacationing is expensive so get the most out of it. Also, traveling with more than four people on a vacation that is not a guided tour can be difficult. It's difficult because the cars you may rent are small and generally don't fit more than 4 people. We were 6 and had to rent 2 cars, which was very expensive. Also, make sure you bring bottled water with you as you roam the areas. You can have free refills in every town square. Cold, delicious water. We went in July. If you can tour in September or October, do it then.
We had someone pick us up. We arranged this through a travel agent that we booked our flights with. I think it may have been a little difficult getting to the property on our own. By watching the way the driver was getting there, it seemed difficult , but I could be wrong
Check In Out:
Check in check out was effortless.

The location was perfect. The short walk into town and the easy access out of town made this a perfect spot in the heart of Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved that we had the best of both worlds. Close enough to town that we could walk with the feeling that we were in the country when you looked out either the front or back of the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
There was very little to complain about at Casa Gioia. Our only complaint was that the espresso pot was too small and the "American Coffee Maker" was too slow to brew. Also the knives in the kitchen could use some upgrading.
Surrounding Area:
We loved that we had easy access throughout the Chianti Region. The rolling hills and the landscape are breathtaking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa is less than a 10 minute walk into Greve.
Tips or Restaurants:
We have used RentVillas many times now so we are generally used to what to expect when staying at a villa. We travel with our own reuseable shopping bags as well this time we brought a small folding cooler for our trips into the CO-OP. We also travel with Tide-Pods for the washing machine as well as bounce sheets and zip lock bags.
We bring along our own GPS as well as paper maps, but the directions provided got us to the villa with no problems.
Check In Out:
The check-in and check-out are seamless.
