Customer Reviews
Overall:
The villa was in the most beautiful setting, the staff was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed getting to know them and they took such good care of our large group. The living room, dining room were really cozy and we used them often. We loved sitting outside on the patio and enjoying the villa's wines.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular and so serene. We enjoyed the ease in being able to use all of the villa. Simona and Angelito the cook/butler became our friends and they took care of everyone!
Enjoyed Least:
The bed frame in the master bedroom is a beautiful antique, but was somewhat creaky and kept us up at night. This is a very historic home; we felt that some of the bathrooms might benefit from updating.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty of the land and tranquility.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Castelfiorentino and it was not walking distance. We took a taxi to a restaurant.
Tips or Restaurants:
I was very organized in planning ahead and stocking the Villa with food staples and spirits ahead which was great because people felt very comfortable in helping themselves to what they needed. I arranged for different experiences for dinners ahead and would highly recommend that.
Directions:
The directions were good, the only thing is they need to really improve the dirt road leading to the villa.
Check In Out:
Stefano was very nice and explained everything very well.

Overall:
The property was better than our lofty expectations. We were treated warmly and everything that was done for us and our family and guests exceeded our imagination.
Enjoyed Most:
View, comfort, peace and quiet, pool. The wine cellar is fantastic--lots of well-ages wines at very reasonable prices. Try the house red and white.
Enjoyed Least:
Initially hard to find. Probably a virtue since no one else comes by.
Surrounding Area:
Vineyards - we walked them and learned a lot about the grapes and olives
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castelfiorentino was the closest town. Not walkable due to the steep and twisty terrain.
Tips or Restaurants:
Use the train in Castelfiorentino to go to/from Siena and Florence - even from Rome. Trains are every 20-35 minutes during the day, are comfortable, affordable and arrive in the middle of these cities. Forget the hassle of parking!!
San Gimignano is easily visible from the villa. By car it is 25 minutes. Nearby is Tenuta Torciano - schedule a lunch and wine tasting - you'll not regret it.
Bring bug bite and repellant. Little flies and mosquitos bothered some folks after a rain.
Visit the ceramics shop in Montespertoli (you can see this town from the Villa). Huge handmade selection and good prices. Lady doesn't understand English but she nevertheless can communicate - she's a hoot!
Directions:
Unsure. GPS gets you close but unless you know where the entrance is, you'll still wander a bit.
Check In Out:
Worked fine for us since I speak passable Italian. I doubt it would be a problem for anyone. The biggest issue is having to pay cash for Simone, Christy and the food/wine. The local ATMs only allow 200 Euro a day. I found the bank machines in Siena would give out much more.

Overall:
A once in a lifetime experience at this spectacular historic castello.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting, the authenticity and the superb staff.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing, we loved it.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to Castelfiorentino, Certaldo, Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena and Firenze. Excellent train station in Castelfiorentino, and supermercato Coop's.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Castelfiorentino, easy walk to town... Ride back to the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring the kids and grandkids. Excellent restaurants in Certaldo Alto and Basso.
Directions:
Used GPS, no problem.
Check In Out:
Easy check in/out facilitated by the staff.
