This beautiful villa on the edge of the Chianti region is composed of a renovated main house and hay loft. There are six bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and many amenities, including air conditioning, wireless internet, and a pizza oven. There are wonderful views over the Val d’Elsa from the garden and pool area. This estate is in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Siena, making it possible to reach the Chianti towns, as well as Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, and Certaldo.

Poggibonsi, 7 km away, is the nearest town to the estate. Here you will find markets, shops, restaurants, and a small train station. Siena and San Gimignano, which are more charming destinations, are a further drive away. San Gimignano is well known for its towers and rich history dating back to Etruscan times. It is a wonderful place to wander and explore, and major sights include the 12th century Duomo, the People's Palace, and museums dedicated to artwork and archaeology. There are also countless other churches, buildings, and fortresses to see. Barberino Val d'Elsa, home to shops, restaurants, a great pizzeria, a market, a bank, a post office and an ancient castle and church is 10 kilometers away. The train station in Poggibonsi can connect you to Siena, Florence, or Pisa.

This is a beautiful restored country house converted into a private, luxurious and comfortable villa. There is a main house and a hay loft, surrounded by a garden, vineyards, and olive groves. There is an infinity pool with hydro massage (open April 1 to October 30), as well as a pizza oven, barbecue, and an outdoor dining area with table and chairs. There is an open space for parking several cars.

Main House
Ground Floor: The entrance leads to an inviting kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, and toaster. The living/dining room has a fireplace, and there is a guest bathroom with a toilet and sink. There is one double bedroom with a queen size bed (160 cm) and a bathroom with a shower. This room is wheelchair-accessible.
First Floor: There are three double rooms which can be made as narrow twin (80 cm) or queen size beds (160 cm), upon prior request. There is a fourth double bedroom with a queen size bed and a private entrance. All four bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.
Hay Loft
Ground Floor: There is a spacious living/dining room with kitchen corner, a guest bathroom with a toilet and sink, and a veranda.
First Floor: There is one double bedroom with a queen size bed (160 cm) and a bathroom and hydro massage bathtub.

It was fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the panoramic views, and the beautiful swimming pool was so refreshing after a hot day in one of the nearby towns.
Enjoyed Least:
The washing machine was a little temperamental.
Surrounding Area:
We were well-situated for day trips to many amazing spots Florence, Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano, Piensa, and Montalcinoto name a few.

Poggibonsi. No. About 10 mins. Very charming!
Tips or Restaurants:
Just enjoy! It was a slice of heaven!
Directions:
It was hard to find and we ended up at the rental office but it wasn't very well-marked.

Overall:
Thie villa was beautiful and very large. The view was spectacular with San Gimignano in the distance. The pool was enormous and well maintained. The management were very helpful (as much as their limited English allowed).
Enjoyed Most:
The pool, the view and the spaciousness were all excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
The cost of using the air-conditioning was high. We were there in a heat wave and the air-conditioning was used extensively during the afternoon and overnight.
Surrounding Area:
Villa Riccardo was very well located being close to San Gimignano, Poggibonsi, Monteriggioni, Siena and other local medieval sites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You would definitely need a car to get around. Poggibonsi was about 7 kms away which was where the large supermarket was located.
Tips or Restaurants:
Get your groceries stocked up by Saturday evening as not much is open on a Sunday.
Directions:
The directions were good.
Check In Out:
Ask the manager what is included or not - the water in the fridge was free but we didn't realize it until check out. There is limited information about the place however if you are prepared to ask questions, the managers will help. They do have limited English so if you have a translator on your phone or a English-Italian translation book it would be helpful.
