About The Experience
Experience traditional Tuscan living from this 18th century villa outside of Cortona. The large, private outdoor space has several vantage points for you to admire panoramic views of the countryside. Cool off in the pool, eat every meal alfresco beneath the covered dining area, and take the time to wander the scenic, peaceful grounds. You’re only a short walk from Cortona, with its wonderful shops and restaurants.
Location Description
The property is 1.5 kilometers away from Cortona, an ancient Etruscan hilltop town that is full of art, history, and culture. Visit ancient Etruscan tombs dating back to the second century BC. Tour frescoed churches from the 13th century, explore the original city walls, and then take in an art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You won’t have any trouble finding restaurants featuring delicious Tuscan dishes and there are plenty of shops selling antiques, crafts, wines, and olive oils, as well as a bank, post office, and pharmacy.

Nearby Attractions: Arezzo is perfect for a day trip. Once one of the most important Etruscan cities, today Arezzo is beautiful for an array of architecture spanning centuries, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheater and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month brings a popular antique fair, while annually there is a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire and knights representing each part of the city charge at a target representing a Saracen king. Other excellent day trip destinations from the property are to Lake Trasimeno, where you can participate in water sports, Arezzo, Perugia, and Siena.

Customer Reviews

We all had an absolutely fabulous time. The villa was delightful , even better than I had hoped . It was extremely comfortable , full of atmosphere and in a great location in amongst the grapevine and olive trees. It matched my dream of a "villa in Tuscany". It was a bonus to be near the gorgeous village of Cortona. Wow , perfect. We actually liked it more than both Siena and San Gimingano . Our host was wonderful, very attentive, nothing too much trouble. We all loved the total experience . Definitely our little "Under the Tuscan Sun" experience!
Enjoyed Most:
Location, comfort, host.
Surrounding Area:
Gorgeous area, loved Cortona and easy to visit other places like Siena .
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona, we walked every day but would need car if going in to town at night.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owner will recommend restaurants, they were great. Would definitely recommend having own car.
Definitely need GPS. Owner met us in Cortona, went very smoothly.
Check In Out:
All went very smoothly. Lovely owner.

This villa was a wonderful setting for spending a week in Tuscany. It was comfortable for 4 of us. There was another bedroom, which would have worked well for children, but 2 more adults would have been tight for bathroom and living room use.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting was peaceful with a terrific view. The house was comfortable, clean and well kept. We really enjoyed the outdoor pizza oven and wood/charcoal grill. The outdoor seating was excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room was OK for 4 of us, but would not provide seating for any more than that. We were charged for gas use, which was about 50 Euros. This was unexpectedly high, as we had only used heat one evening. The upstairs bathroom did not have a shower.
Surrounding Area:
It was an easy day trip to several hill towns and wine tasting venues. It was also a reasonable drive from Florence airport.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was the nearest town. It was a strenuous uphill walk, and only walking distance if you are relatively fit. Walking back after dark is difficult. A taxi from town to the villa was about 15 Euros.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and supermarkets were available in Camucia. I would suggest stopping for basics before going to the villa, if possible. If you intend to use the pizza oven, request wood from the owner at check-in
The owner met us in Camucia and we followed him to the villa, which worked well.
Check In Out:
The owner was delightful to deal with. The instructions said he would meet us in Cortona, but when we called, he suggested we meet in Camucia since this was easier than driving into Cortona. He met us and the check in was easy.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful area with plenty of great areas to explore.
Enjoyed Most:
The serenity and the view.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen very small if there are more then 2 people.
Surrounding Area:
Cortona is lovely, and there are so many neat and interesting towns and vineyards to visit and explore with a small car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. Longish walk mostly up hill not for anyone with some disability.
Tips or Restaurants:
Easy to get nice things at market to make at Villa. Very nice places to eat in Cortona. Had no ice trays so we got baking cups and made ice daily.
If you drive, get a small car like our Fiat Panda. It is a manual shift. Get a good GPS if you are exploring. Narrow roads with some gravel and dirt to get up to villa.
Check In Out:
All good. The manager was amazing. Even gave us wine he and his father makes. It was very good!
