About The Experience
This charming cottage is tucked away in the wooded Cortonese Mountains with stunning panoramic views of the town and countryside. Whether you’re seeking a quiet family retreat or a romantic getaway, this is the idyllic destination for rest and relaxation.
Location Description

The property is 13 kilometers away from Cortona, an ancient Etruscan hilltop town that is full of art, history, and culture. Visit ancient Etruscan tombs dating back to the second century BC. Tour frescoed churches from the 13th century, explore the original city walls, and then take in an art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You won’t have any trouble finding restaurants featuring delicious Tuscan dishes and there are plenty of shops selling antiques, crafts, wines, and olive oils, as well as a bank, post office, and pharmacy.

Nearby Attractions: Arezzo is perfect for a day trip. Once one of the most important Etruscan cities, today Arezzo is beautiful for an array of architecture spanning centuries, from Etruscan ruins to the Roman amphitheater and the Medici Fortress. The first weekend of each month brings a popular antique fair, while annually there is a festival called "Joust of the Saracens," where all of the citizens dress in medieval attire and knights representing each part of the city charge at a target representing a Saracen king. Other excellent day trip destinations from the property are to Lake Trasimeno, where you can participate in water sports, Arezzo, Perugia, and Siena.

Customer Reviews

Very relaxing, very restful and love the pool!
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet, secluded, but with lots of amenities!
Enjoyed Least:
The roads to get there and the directions.
Surrounding Area:
It is so beautiful!
Nearby Events or Locales:
No town is really near the villa. We had to drive back to the other side of Cortona to shop for groceries. Cortona itself was very touristy, but there are wonderful places to eat all around the area, and once at the villa with groceries, it was great!
Tips or Restaurants:
Be sure to stop for groceries in Camucia on the way in! Restaurants that you pass on the way are all good!
GPS didn't really help. Once you go up to Cortona, follow signs to Torreone and Portele which takes you around Cortona, with the city wall on the right. Go to Torreone where the road turns to the left--follow it, but there Portele is not on that sign; go that way anyway! The roads are VERY narrow and people drive way too fast and down the middle of the road.
Check In Out:
Check in and out was no problem at all!

The villa was very private and relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace off the master bedroom and the pool.
Surrounding Area:
It was a good location for taking day trips and returning to take a dip in the pool. We discovered Cortona, Siena, the lake, Pisa and Lucca. There is a restaurant just a short walk away run by the owners of the villa, it was superb!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona, and no you need a car for this villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bug spray is useful. We brought salt pepper, a sponge, laundry detergent pods. Could have used dishwasher tabs and they didn't provide enough toilet paper for us for the week so we had to buy some.
We used our GPS and it would only recognize the "postal code"; also we used GoogleMaps satellite to check it out ahead of time.
Check In Out:
The information we got was to call Serena the key holder an hour before we were to arrive. I called several times but never could get her. I ended up calling the property manager who got a hold of her and then he called me back to say we could arrive anytime as the keys were in the door. Serena met us there and gave us a VERY quick tour.
