Location Description

The villa is 2 km from the small village of Torre San Severo, which has a mini market. A little further is Orvieto, which has some of the best views in Europe, perched on top of a large volcanic rock formation with sheer vertical cliffs. The town has many shops, cafes, and restaurants. The famous Gothic Duomo dates back to the 13th century and features a beautiful façade and interiors. Visit the papal palace, Etruscan ruins, and embark on a guided tour of one of the villages many underground caves. Be sure to purchase a bottle of Orvieto’s famous Classico wine! From Orvieto, there are fast trains to Rome and Florence.

Nearby Attractions: It is definitely a worthwhile trip to Civita di Bagnoreggio. In addition, you should visit the medieval city of Todi, one of Umbria’s famous cultural jewels. A perfectly preserved historic town, Todi has a world-wide reputation for its beauty and cultural events. The city center’s piazza is ideal for dining outdoors or for sipping cocktails as you take in the surroundings. Todi holds many impressive architectural sights, such as the Palazzio del Popolo, one of the first indoor public spaces in Italy, which was built in the 1200s. The city has also made recent headlines for garnering recent acclaim for its livability, sustainability, and ability to successfully reinvent itself over time.

The villa is situated on a large, gated estate overlooking hillsides and fields where sheep graze. There are a few caves on the property—remnants of the ancient peasant culture of the region. There is a garden with flowers and fruit trees, a vegetable garden, and an orchard. The infinity pool (14 x 7m) is open the beginning of May through the end of September depending on the weather and overlooks the countryside. There are chairs in the garden, a large porch with accommodations for alfresco dining, a barbecue and an antique wood burning oven, and a table with chairs beneath a canopy near the pool, along with deck chairs, a fridge, and a stereo. There is also a large area for parking on the property.

Interior Description

The villa is a converted farmhouse that dates back to the 1800’s and was built using black lava stones common in the area. It was recently renovated and refurbished, and reflects a rustic elegance with antique furnishings. There are window screens in the bedrooms only.

Ground Floor: The ground floor is centered around a large living room with fireplace, sofas, armchairs, and books. There is a dining room with great views of the pastures. It has vaulted ceilings, terracotta tiles, a sideboard, and large dining table. The fully equipped kitchen has a fireplace, gas stove and oven, dishwasher, toaster, espresso machine, American coffee maker, and a table for 10. The kitchen also has access to the outdoors. There is a full bathroom on this floor with a shower, in addition to a large bedroom with a 180 cm king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. There is also a utility room with bicycles, fans, a cot, and highchair, along with two washing machines and an iron and board.

First Floor: (18 Steps) On this floor there is a large suite—that can also be directly accessed by an external stone staircase of 15 steps. This room has a 160 cm queen-sized bed, 2 armchairs, a fireplace, a studio with desk and bookshelf, and an en-suite bathroom with tub, shower, and bidet. The three additional bedrooms on this floor all have 160 cm queen-sized beds and en-suite bathrooms with bidets; two have showers, one has a tub and shower.
