Location Description

This property is located 4 km from Monsummano. There are a number of leisure activities you can find in or around Monsummano such as golf courses, horseback riding facilities, walking tours, and cooking classes. Nearby are the Giusti Grottoes, home to hot thermal baths; the Pistoia hills and mountains, where skiing in the winter is an option; a pretty Romanesque church and an ancient castle. There is a train station in both Montecatini Terme (located seven kilometers away) and Lucca in which you can easily and quickly travel to Pisa or Florence for the day should you not feel like driving.

Nearby Attractions: 20 kilometers away is Lucca, which is worth enjoying for its medieval charm in addition to a number of interesting sights. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130 foot Torre Guinigi, but on the other hand, viewing the tree-topped tower from below might be just as enjoyable… and a lot less work!

Customer Reviews

Loved it!! We were a family of 8 so I rented a 9 passenger van (manual transmission). To say that the drive on the steep, narrow winding drive was a challenge would be an understatement but it got easier as the week progressed.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting was remarkable. From the pool deck, you looked over the city in the valley. The villa was very well equipped so once we were stocked up we could focus on important things like jigsaw puzzles, cooking on the grill and tasting the local fare. While the trip up the hill took about 10 minutes, access to the highway was not far and once you got to the nearby town you could walk to shop and eat
Enjoyed Least:
The drive up the hill was a challenge especially in the big van.
Surrounding Area:
The villa was a little remote which was great for us to relax and catch up with each other.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monsummano Terme was not in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring cards, puzzles, group games. Once you are in for the night, there is no stepping out into town.
Check In Out:
Ambra was critical to the check in and getting settled. She even spent the next morning driving some of us around in her car showing us the local sights.

We could not have been more pleased with everything. Ambra was over the top great to work with
Enjoyed Most:
The views from the terrace and pool were spectacular
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing to complain about at all. Single lane winding mountain road a challenge but was paved and easy to navigate after a trip up and down.
Surrounding Area:
Montecatini and Monsummano were quaint and easy to get to from the villa. Easy access to markets and restaurants etc. Views all around were great
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town was Monsummano and no, walking would be a hike but again an easy 5 minute drive. Momsummano and Montecatini actually run together so is real easy to get to local activity
Tips or Restaurants:
Really don't need to bring anything. Villa has it covered. The welcome basket was wonderful and got us through the first night after a long drive from Rome
GPS a must. I used Waze up until I got to Monsummano. I then hooked up with Ambra who met us and guided us to the villa.
Check In Out:
Check in and out a breeze. No problems at all

We absolutely loved staying at Casale Terme and loved the owner who was so helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the pool area when we decided we needed some down time. It was so relaxing.
Enjoyed Least:
The crazy roads to get up to the villa. We got lost every evening getting home in the dark and luckily I was able to contact the owner and he came to find us and guide us back.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the couple of villages we visited close to the villa and the closeness of the train station.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was within walking distance, but a couple of towns were about 15 - 20 minute drive away so that was great.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing in particular - all the restaurants we visited were great. We loved spending time in Pistoia and Montecatini - great for people watching and for shopping.
We used Waze which was 90% good at getting us to the villa. The last little bit was confusing but we finally got the hang of it. The issue is if you make a wrong turn, there's no way to turn around as the roads are winding and narrow.
Check In Out:
This was perfect.
