About The Experience
Location doesn't get much better than this farmhouse in Tuscany, separated into two independent units and rented together. Perfect for two families traveling together, you can share outdoor areas of this Tuscany villa with a pool without crowding each other inside. Get together for a walk into Cortona, which is where the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" starring Diane Lane takes place as well as the book it's based off of by Frances Mayes, for your morning constitutional followed by fresh pastries and cafe latte—and then explore! We also recommend taking the short drive to Lake Trasimeno, where you can enjoy all sorts of water-based activities in a beautiful setting. Return to the villa in the late afternoon with fresh produce to have an outdoor barbeque that everyone can enjoy for farm holidays in Tuscany.
Location Description

The countryside around the estate is the ideal place to go for a walk, horseback riding, jogging, or mountain biking. The amazing city of Cortona, which also has all the necessities and services, such as banks, bars, post office, antiques, pharmacies, clothing, grocery stores, and restaurants, is only a 500 meter walk away (it is hilly). This city is an encounter with art, history, and culture. You'll rediscover Tuscany's past in Cortona, which has changed very little in the last 400 years or so. Sitting in the center of the triangle formed by Arezzo, Siena, and Perugia, as well as being near Lake Trasimeno and the Appenines, Cortona is both ideally located for day trips and a sparkling gem of the region. In Cortona there is no end to picturesque streets and amazing historic buildings. Tour frescoed churches from the 13th century; explore the original city walls; see and art exhibit in the 16th century fortress. You can also visit the local museums and libraries, tiptoe around ancient monasteries and tombs dating back to the second century B.C. Dine on the best Tuscan dishes as you look out on an historic palazzo or drive out to one of the villas dotting the countryside. As for shopping, you'll find local handicrafts, antiques, and of course local wines and olive oils that simply outdo anything you've ever tasted!

Nearby Attractions: About 300 meters from the villa is the sports center of Cortona, which consist of four tennis courts, a soccer field, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and an amphitheater, which in the high season puts on musical performances. Golf course (20 km), horseback riding (5 km), thermal baths (35 km).

Exterior Description
(10 acres/4 hectares)
This pair of farmhouses is situated in a quiet spot amongst the gently rolling hills of Cortona, only 500 meters from the town center. The houses themselves offer superb views over Valdichiana and the surrounding hills, as far as Lake Trasimeno to the east and Montepulciano to the west. The houses are surrounded by a spacious garden where the sun shines all year, and there is a private swimming pool (14m x 7m, 80cm – 1.4cm deep, Open April to October). A laundry room is located in a separate building within the garden and has a washing machine, drying rack, and iron and ironing board. Beyond that are four hectares of olive groves and woods, perfect for peaceful walks. The owners, farmers and shepherds for four generations, live on the family farm in the Valdichiana, only a few kilometers away, where guests are welcome to taste the farm's products: olive oil, wine, vin santo, pecorino cheese, and more.

A dream come true!
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The two house were rustic, charming, but had everything we needed . The property was incredible, so beautiful, you could not take your eyes off the view
Enjoyed Least:
There wasn't one thing we would change. Maybe make one of the bathrooms larger.
Surrounding Area:
The town, the countryside, the owners were incredible!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. A steep walk uphill, but then it leveled off. We called the walk magical. It took us about 25 minutes and everyday there was new beauty. We took this walk everyday with the 8 of us, 6 adults and 2 grandchildren, it was a wonderful time.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nope, bring your walking shoes.
Check In Out:
Check out was fine. We absolutely loved the place

My wife and I have been to Italy more than 20 times, and we have never had a more genuinely Italian experience than at this villa.
Enjoyed Most:
The people and the location. The low-mountain view covers sunrise to sunset for miles and miles. The villa property feels very much out in the country, yet just up a short hill and then through a level pedestrian boulevard, one can walk into the amiable old city of Cortona. Best of all, though, was getting to know the villa owners, the Lapo family-- hardworking, fun and wonderfully generous.
Enjoyed Least:
For a group of eight, the kitchen and living room space was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
A not-long drive one way reaches Chianti and the other way the Montepulciano-Montalcino hills. Or go a third way, to Lake Trasimeno and into Umbria. Delights in any direction, particularly for lovers of wine and changing-light scenery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona is small-town accessible and bigger-town smart, plus immersed in history. We walked there from the villa many times, including at night.
Tips or Restaurants:
In Cortona, an upscale restaurant definitely worth a visit is Teatro. For a first-rate trattoria, we highly recommend Toscano.
The directions we received were not to the property, but instead to the office of a local agent in a nearby town. The agent led us by car to the villa.

Wonderful! Beautiful accommodations, awesome scenery, extremely warm and hospitable hosts.
Enjoyed Most:
It's beauty and location.
Enjoyed Least:
One can hear dogs barking at night.
Surrounding Area:
It's beauty and history.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona--a twelve to fifteen minute walk
Tips or Restaurants:
Bar 500 for lunch and Nessun Dorma for dinner. Lapo, the owner, puts on a great meal, too.
