- About The Experience
At this well-situated villa in Sicily, you can visit a well-preserved Greek amphitheater, have lunch on the beach, tour a volcanic mountain, and still have time to relax on your private terrace before dinner. This property is just a short walk to the beach, and its charming terrace overlooks a bay and has expansive sea views. It’s also only a few minutes by cable car to the historic hillside town of Taormina. This villa is well suited for a family or group of friends.
- Location Description
This villa is located on the island of Sicily overlooking a small bay, and is just a short walk from the sandy beach of Spisone. In the summer, you can walk to the town of Mazzaro, which has shops and restaurants. Less than half a kilometer from the villa, you can catch a gondola-style cable car that quickly climbs the 200 meters to the hillside town of Taormina, which has shopping, restaurants, cafes, and views of the sea and nearby Mount Etna. Taormina has a rich history, as a former Greek and later Roman outpost, reflected in the town’s ruins and archaeological sites. Most spectacularly, the well-preserved ancient Greek theatre – the second largest in Sicily – is perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the sea and Mount Etna. In the summer, there are concerts and other performances in the theatre. Nearby on the coast, the fishing village of Giardini Naxos has beaches, a fishing port, opportunities for boating, and restaurants specializing in fresh seafood. Jeep tours of the volcanic Mount Etna are also available, and the cities of Messina and Catania are each about 50 km away.

Peace and Quiet
Villa is in a beautiful area with spectacular views.
The outdoor areas were large and beautiful, with many choices for outdoor dining.
The living room couches were dated and uncomfortable. There were also two different dogs in the area that barked often.
Very nice towns and people. The local grocery store was convenient and the owners were very nice to us.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Mazzano, within walking distance, with the cable car to Taormina.
Tips or Restaurants:
None in particular. We didn't have a bad meal. Every restaurant we tried was good.
Directions to the villa were perfect.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out went very smoothly. Simonetta was very helpful.
Our family voted this the best vacation house we have ever rented.
Every morning we woke up to a beautiful view of the water, made coffee and walked outside to the wonderful terrace to drink it and enjoy the view. It was a short walk to the beach. In the evening we would drink wine on the terrace and enjoy the end of the day. There were numerous places to eat close by and just a short ride to Taormina, a charming town.
It was a little noisy--there is a train and road and some nearby roosters--but it didn't cause significant problems for us.
Beautiful--the view from the terrace is across the water to Calabria in southern Italy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to a small shop for bread, cheese, salami, fruit and wine. Just down the hill was croissants and brioches and granita.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bam Bar in Taormina for the best granita.
Check In Out:
The owner is lovely. Made our stay a joy. She left coffee, bread, milk, tomatoes, homemade orange marmalade---all things to get us through breakfast the first day.
