About The Experience
The majesty of St Croix reaches its zenith at this enchanting estate near Cane Bay. Built around a beautifully preserved 18th-century sugar mill, the property offers a main villa and two separate guest quarters, a lovely private pool with a pool house, a home gym, tropical gardens and plenty of breathtaking views. It is an ideal getaway for a family or group of friends, and it is a wonderful place to have a small wedding or other special celebration.
Location Description

The villa is located on an estate on the north shore of St. Croix, the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. St. Croix is home to beautiful white-sand beaches and some of the most unique diving and snorkeling experiences of all its neighboring islands. The nearest restaurant is a quarter of a mile downhill from the property, and the nearest beach is a mile away—the roads are narrow and winding, with no shoulder, so guests will need to take a short car ride to these destinations. Around the island, top sights include Cane Bay (2.2 km away) and Carambola beaches (5.2 km away). There are endless activities to fill your days, including hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, sailing, water sports, fishing, turtle watching, golf, and tennis. The island hosts several year-round festivals such as the famous Mango Melee in July, the weeklong St. Croix Food and Wine Experience in April, and several music festivals. There are two towns on the island; lively Christiansted and low-key Frederiksted. Christiansted—known for its historic yellow buildings and Danish architecture—is more active day and night with a bustling boardwalk and marina, shops, several fine restaurants, historic churches, boutiques, galleries, and cafes. Frederiksted is decidedly more quite and relaxed with a beautiful waterfront, charming Victorian buildings, and a small white sand beach Butler Bay. You can reach the island by plane via the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport—which also services flights between St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, and other Caribbean Islands. Ferries at Christiansted run to Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas—with connections to St. John and other British Virgin Islands.

Nearby Attractions: Take a tour of Buck Island—one of only three underwater U.S. national monuments. The white sandy beach is surrounded by a coral reef teeming with underwater life and several underwater trails for snorkeling. Six National Park Service contracted concessionaires offer trips around the Island. Cane Bay Beach has a good stretch of sand, moderate waves, and is great for diving and snorkeling. There is a full-service dive shop nearby and several restaurants. Visit the Cruzan Rum Distillery for a tour of the old rum factory—the only historic distillery still producing rum on the island; $5. St. George’s Botanical Gardens situated among the ruins of a sugar plantation the gardens consist of 16 acres containing over 1,000 species of local plants and trees. There is also the quaint Divi Casino at Carina Bay featuring primarily slot machines and electronic games with a few card tables.

Exterior Description
(4 acres)
An electronic gate opens onto the lush four-acre estate, which is filled with trees and flowers. Two of the acres contain landscaped grounds that include a formal garden with a fountain. The property has many lovely terraces with cozy spots to sit in the shade and/or gaze at the ocean. Among these is a patio nestled amidst well-preserved historic ruins, which stand as fine examples of 200-year-old Danish stonework. A separate large terrace houses a lovely swimming pool, many sunbeds and a dining table for six. Opening off of the sugar mill there is a large ocean-view terrace with a shaded bar with stool seating, dining table for six, barbecue and sunny sitting area. A separate air-conditioned building near the pool houses a home gym featuring a multi-purpose workout station (Club Weider C720 Smith Machine), treadmill (Health Rider H110i), free weights and a scale. The buildings and the ruins are connected by walkways that wind past tall shade trees, fruit trees, tropical gardens and manicured lawns. A staircase winds up and around the sugar mill to the top, where there are spectacular vistas and a hand-painted mural which maps the islands seen in the distance. There is parking for five vehicles.
