Location Description

What was once an industrial section of Barcelona is now the modern and luxurious district of Diagonal Mar. A district characterized by wide streets and careful design, Diagonal Mar offers a unique experience for the traveler interested in seeing all sides of Barcelona. In direct proximity to the sea, the beach of Diagonal Mar offers a more relaxed sun bathing experience. Boasting high-rise apartments, deluxe hotels, and popular conference centers, Diagonal Mar does not sacrifice green space and many parks and large gardens can be found throughout the area. It also features a three story mall providing a high class shopping experience, and has a cinema, as well as a large supermarket, Alcampo, on the bottom floor. Nearby is the Port Olimpic district, built for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, which has an attractive sea front, with beautiful beaches and gardens. The district is rich with restaurants, bars, and discos. The metro station, Selva de Mar, is a 5-minute walk from the apartment and the Gothic Quarter can be reached in just a few stops.

Nearby Attractions: Barcelona is a mecca of art, architecture, ports, beaches, and restaurants. Ca l’Isidre (reservations required!), offers fresh and traditional Catalan cooking. For a meal of tapas, visit Cal Pep, located near Santa Maria del Mar, Barcelona’s Gothic church. The Bus Turistic (Hop-on/Hop-off tour) offers two lines that stop at over 44 sites within the city. The works of Gaudi, including Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, and Casa Batlló, are not to be missed. Seek out the loop of Carrer dels Escudellers, named for the early potters, and which has an assortment of restaurants, shops and a flea market on Saturdays.

This beachside apartment is in an exceptional building designed by the architect Ricardo Bofill. He is very well known for designing Hotel Vela and the National Theatre of Catalunya. The apartment features a private balcony overlooking the palm tree lined road and the beach of Diagonal Mar. Parking, which is located in the same building, is available on request for 15 Euros per night.

First Floor (elevator): This apartment has a combined living and dining room, made sunny and bright by the large sliding doors leading to the private balcony. Furnished with a large sofa and ottomans, the living room has a satellite TV with a DVD player and a dining table. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric tea kettle, toaster, American coffee maker, dishwasher, an oven, and the apartment also features a washing machine and clothes dryer. There are three bedrooms: one double bedroom with a queen size bed (160 cm) and two bedrooms with twin size beds (90 cm). There are two bathrooms with bathtubs with showerheads as well as an additional guest bathroom with a toilet.
