Ideal for those looking to explore Lake Como without a car, the apartment’s central location is within easy reach of the train station, bus stops and Central Lake ferry stop of Varenna. Varenna features ancient churches and boutique gift shops, the lakeside Lido, and the lush botanical gardens of Villa Monastero. The Ferry service provides easy access to the famous resorts of nearby Bellagio, Cadenabbia and Menaggio. Leisure activities on Lake Como include kayaking, sailing, cycling, horse riding, tennis, golf, spa treatments and Lido days.
You really won’t need a car to explore this area of Lake Como. The apartment’s central location is within easy reach of the train station, bus stops and central lake ferry stop of Varenna. This quaint town is home to ancient churches, boutique gift shops, a lakeside swimming pool, and the lush botanical gardens of Villa Monastero. Ferry service provides easy access to resorts of neighboring Bellagio, Cadenabbia and Menaggio.
Nearby Attractions: Varenna is also perfectly placed for reaching the fabulous nearby cities of Lugano (44 minutes bus ride/ car journey from Menaggio, reached by ferry from Varenna) and Milan (79 minutes’ drive from Varenna, and easily accessible by train). Varenna is well-serviced with a Lecco-Milan train service too, so guests can easily reach Lake Como without a car.

The spacious master bedroom has a queen size bed (190 cm x 135 cm) and a contemporary bathroom with shower, sink, hairdryer, toilet and bidet. The apartment also provides a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.

Overall:
Completely satisfied. Location excellent, furnishings excellent (except for a strange coffee maker that we could find no pods to fit). Weather was below average with rain and strong winds some days. Varenna is our preferred Lake Como destination as it is not a glitzy and crowded as other Lake Como villages.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Also an excellent restaurant in same building lower level accessed by short walk outside and into the Piazza.
Enjoyed Least:
The lock box was a challenge to open on arrival.
Surrounding Area:
Location in the midst of the lake walk.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were inside the town with short walk to excellent little grocery shops and other restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ristorante Al Prato, Piazza Al Prato excellent and a three minute walk from apartment in lower part of same building. Also within 5-minute walk in main Piazza San Giorgio is Albergo Ristorante del Sole with excellent lasagna and other dishes.
Directions:
Taxi drivers knew exactly where to go if told the local name of property.
Check In Out:
Never saw anyone during in and out. Did not supply passport information since no one met us.

Overall:
Once we got settled in, it was fantastic. The restaurant downstairs was incredible. In the mornings and afternoons, song birds were right outside our windows. The apartment is very clean and cozy. While other parts of town got hot in the afternoon sun, we enjoyed comfortable shade and a breeze off the lake.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect. It's close to everything, but peacefully out of the way in Varenna's small streets. Two blocks to a small market right around the corner from gelato.
Enjoyed Least:
The family staying in the apartment above us was noisy.
Surrounding Area:
The scenario is beautiful - the lake, surrounded by glorious mountains and cute medieval villages. We were treated to two free concerts put on by the community as part of an annual festival.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Varenna - the apartment is just off the town square.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you're planning to be there in the summer, bring light weight clothes. The town gets warm if you aren't in the shade. Hats and sun screen are important if you plan to be out during the peak hours. We found a couple of English language channels on the TV, if you forget to bring a good book.
Directions:
We had some difficulty locating the apartment.
Check In Out:
When I arrived, I called the local contact as instructed in the paperwork provided by RentVillas. The contact I spoke to seemed very confused. Beyond that, he didn't understand why I was calling; the call seemed to be unnecessary from his perspective.
