About The Experience
Situated just minutes away from the cosmopolitan town of Lucca, this luxury villa in Tuscany offers both the respite of the countryside and accessibility to shopping and culture. Anyone with an appreciation for architecture will enjoy Casa Samuele's stunning design and the way that the original lines of the historic farmhouse and mill have been carefully preserved and enhanced with modern amenities. While the classic Italian gardens and swimming pool may provide diversion enough on a warm day, Lucca (10 minutes) and Pisa (20 minutes) both offer a wealth of museums and restaurants, should you have the desire to explore. For longer day trips, the stunning Ligurian coastal jewels of the Cinque Terre (112 km) and chic Portofino (142 km) are within reach by car.

This Tuscan villa is located near Lucca in the Vorno Valley. The nearest shops are in Vorno and Badia di Cantignano, both a three-minute drive away. There is a bus stop 100 meters from the property. There is parking available on the grounds for five cars.

Both structures have been beautifully restored and transformed into a luxury accommodation, featuring simple lines and traditional materials such as stone, handmade brick, rough hewn beams, and terracotta. The villa, which is part of a three-home complex, is surrounded by typical Italian gardens filled with potted lemons, olive trees, pines, camellias, wisteria, roses, lavender, and rosemary. A small brook runs through the garden. The private swimming pool has an area for children and an area for advanced swimmers. An ornamental gazebo equipped with a dining table is located next to the pool. There is also a barbecue, as well as comfortable deck chairs and lounge chairs.

Customer Reviews

Enjoyed Most:
Pool area, kitchen, comfortable furnishings.
Enjoyed Least:
Bathroom shower curtain; could not not walk anywhere because of the busy road.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Vorno was nice.
Tips or Restaurants:
Local Vorno restaurant very good. Would appreciate suggestions for tipping before arriving. The communication sometimes difficult with household staff.
Check In Out:
Surprise additional cost included coffee. Should have had envelopes for tipping for each person.

Enjoyed Most:
Good location for side trips Pisa, Lucca, the coast, Viareggio, the mountains, Montecatini and not far from Florence.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing right around it. Vorno is not much of a town. No place to walk, shop, etc. without going on a car trip. Pool is not heated. House was air conditioned but there were no screens on the windows.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Vorno is the nearest small town but not in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Information on restaurants was provided at the house. Information regarding tipping of household staff would have been helpful, as well the cost of Internet service and telephone usage.

Enjoyed Most:
The large garden and pool and the large dining room. Great for 5 couples on both accounts.
Enjoyed Least:
The property needs to be signed better. Even though the directions to the villa are good, the house has a very little sign which we passed by three times before calling the house and getting a person to stand outside the house on our arrival.
Surrounding Area:
Local Restaurants and Lucca.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Its was Vorno, and it was within walking distance, but not really much there. The location lends itself more to visiting the coastal sites, then Florence or Siena. The distance from the villa to Siena is a little to far. If they want to spend time visiting the coast and Lucca, it is ideal. A good find is to visit Cinque Terre. This should be highlighted.<
Tips or Restaurants:
The day manager knew all the good restaurants, so just telling her what you are looking for is good enough.
