For the hale and hearty, trails depart from the hamlets of Les Colombets and Les Febriers. Also stunning are the Dentelles, a row of tooth-like limestone pinnacles located just south of Vaison-la-Romaine. From our Provence villa rentals in Ventoux, Vaison itself makes an interesting daytrip as it has a medieval center and ruined castle. The remains of two excavated Roman districts can also be visited. Arles, with its well-preserved Roman arena, and Oranges, with its Roman theatre (site of the Choregies music festival) are also worthwhile destinations. Known for its wines, this area is home to wine-producing villages such as Gigondas, Beaume-de-Venise, Sablet, Seguret, and Vacqueyras. We recommend passing a lazy afternoon visiting the many tasting rooms!.
