A wide range of activities are available on the island, including wildlife reserves, scuba diving and snorkeling, helicopter rides, golfing, and spelunking. The southern and western coasts feature beautiful white and pinkish beaches, while the east coast has waves ideal for light surfing. No major car rental companies operate on the island, but small busses take passengers to most areas of the island, making it easy to get around without a car. Although most of the population is composed of English-speaking descendants of African slaves, Barbados also has immigrants from all over the world. The capital is Bridgetown, and access to the island is via Sir Grantley Adams International Airport, the major airport of the eastern Caribbean..
