Customer Reviews

Overall:
Wow, what a fantastic location. The apartment was roomy and very well appointed. We felt very spoiled.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was terrific, the quite daytime lane/way became a busy nighttime area and yet once inside the apartment you had complete peace and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
The air conditioner in the bedroom leaked quite profusely and so we were unable to use it. However by using the air conditioner in the lounge room and the fan in the bedroom we managed the August heat quite well.
Surrounding Area:
The area around us was lively, plenty of restaurants to choose from, and most of the sights of Rome could be reached from here on foot. We walked to the Colesseum, the Vatican, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain all with ease.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not applicable as we were right in the middle of one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you are travelling to Rome in August make sure you pack lightweight clothing and shorts that cover your knees for entry into any of the churches. We had breakfast most mornings at Vivi Bistrot which is in the Palazzo Braschi which houses the Museum of Rome; it is closed on Mondays but offers a great healthy option for the rest of the week. All while having a great view of Piazza Navona waking up in the mornings.
Directions:
Once nce we found the actual address the directions to the property were fine; we took a taxi and were dropped just metres from the door. Danielo came to let us in and give us the keys was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We did check in and out on a Sunday, which was unusual.
Check In Out:
Once we were sorted with checking in all went very smoothly. It did create a little bit of angst when we had initial trouble with contacting anyone, as it was a Sunday. We waited in the restaurant diagonally opposite while waiting to hear back from all the messages we had left and enjoyed a good meal at the same time. Serafini alla Pace.

Karen, September

Overall:
Excellent.
Enjoyed Most:
Spacious, clean, quiet. Cortona was a delightful surprise. I expected it to be very rustic but it was quite nice.
Enjoyed Least:
Quite a climb to reach our villa! 566 steps from the parking area with a 23' incline. Just an FYI to anyone with knee or hip problems.
Surrounding Area:
Easy to reach surrounding cities. We visited Arrezzo, Assisi, Florence and Siena.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a bag of Starbucks if you love your AM coffee! Nice coffee pot in well-equipped kitchen. We loved every restaurant in Cortona that we dined in: La Cacciatorie, Bistrot Cortona, Teatre, Bistro Toscana on Nationale.
Directions:
We had a Garmin with the chip for Europe. It was excellent to visualize some of the hairpin turns around the countryside.
Check In Out:
Next time we will request help with luggage at check out. Would have been lovely to load up the car and drive down to the parking lot (this was done at check in).

Steven, May

Overall:
Overall we were very pleased with the property. It was even better than I expected, especially the location. We were definitely right in the heart of everything. The apartment was comfortable, clean and charming. The way you would expect an upscale Rome apartment to be. It was fully equipped with all the kitchen utensils you would need as well as iron, board, hairdryer, etc.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved just walking out the door and having everything, restaurants, coffee shops, stores, markets within steps. We loved the night life in the Piazza.
Surrounding Area:
There was lots of activity and it gave you the feeling of being immersed in the local color of Rome.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the heart of Rome and that was all we cared about. We did enjoy walking and found many things to see.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved the waiter at the restaurant that was right out our front door.
Directions:
We did a transfer service from the airport which worked out great.
Check In Out:
Everything went extremely well.

Bonnie, August

Overall:
Wonderful location in marvelous, walkable Roma. The villa is spacious, sunny and well equipped... a very relaxing feel to it.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in the middle of the city with easy access to all the best of Roma.
Enjoyed Least:
Finding it and getting there by cab was not easy. Travelling to it with baggage by foot from the location where the cab let us off was difficult.
Surrounding Area:
Several restaurants, churches and important sites nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
In the middle of Roma.
Tips or Restaurants:
Too many good restaurants to list.
Directions:
Be sure to use GPS and show the cabbie.
Check In Out:
The host was excellent.

Mark, June

Overall:
A lot of fun staying in the heart of Rome!
Enjoyed Most:
Steps to restaurants, shops and sights.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen appliances could be better - new mattress would be appreciated. Editor's Note: The mattress has been replaced. Dec 2014.
Surrounding Area:
Piazza Navona entertainment.
Tips or Restaurants:
Grocery store down the street is nice, but for quick things the one next door is great!

Patty, May

Overall:
Enjoyed our stay as there were many sights to see.
Enjoyed Most:
Close to everything. Short walk to taxi stand for the trip to the airport to pick up our rental car.
Enjoyed Least:
Beds were too firm and there was noise late night (it seems they party after midnight). There was a four-hour strike at the Colosseum during a tour we'd booked; thankfully; the tour provider provided an almost full refund.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed close to our apartment but were able to visit almost everything we wanted. It was very hot the 3 days we were there.

Paul, June

Overall:
Excellent. We loved the apartment layout. We loved that the caretaker's help was available when needed.
Enjoyed Most:
The large space and the comfortable feeling the surroundings provided.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom needed new caulking around the tub. The bed could use some refreshing. Editor's Note: The owner will put new caulking around the tub. The bed was purchased a year ago.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the neighborhood, loads of restaurants, close to Piazza Navona.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing--well stocked apartment. All one needed to live and cook occasionally. Good shopping in the neighborhood.
Directions:
We found it easily with Google.
Check In Out:
Local agents were excellent. Very accommodating.

Rosemarie, May

Overall:
This was an outstanding experience and we would highly recommend it (with some pointers to manage expectations).
Enjoyed Most:
The interior redecorating and finishes are all first class and very satisfying. The new finishes on walls and floors, bright lighting, AC, fan, tub in the bathroom, and washer on the premises were all major positive factors.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed - it has been written up before. The mattress is quite worn and has two distinct ruts in it - almost like sleeping in a hammock. Also, the building entrance and lobby area are quite dark and had a damp, musty smell - don't be put off by this. The apartment on the 2nd floor is a very pleasant surprise.
Surrounding Area:
The location was perfect - every major attraction was within reasonable walking distance, and the proximity to Piazza Navona provided dining choices and evening entertainment just steps from our front door.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Located in the center of the historic district of Rome - everything was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you plan to watch TV in English, bring DVDs. The TV only gets channels in Italian. Also, a CD player is a good idea. The recommendation to pack a roll of toilet paper was a good one - we needed it before we bought other supplies. Take a cab to the property and be prepared for some very narrow streets. Blue Ice Gelato just down the street was the best in the area - we stopped every night.
Directions:
The cab (a van) used GPS and still circled the area because of the very narrow streets. Using Piazza Navona as a navigational point of reference is great - the property is only 50 yards off the Piazza.
Check In Out:
We arrived an hour earlier than planned and Marco was able to meet us and give us access 15 minutes after we called him. The whole process was fast and easy.

Robert, May

Overall:
Loved this property. The apartment was comfortable with a well stocked kitchen.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location.!!
Enjoyed Least:
If we have to say something, I guess it would have been nice to have somewhat of a view, but that's a minor thing to give up given it's location. We never spent that much time in the apartment except to sleep.
Surrounding Area:
We were so centrally located in Rome that we walked to most of our destinations. We had several evenings in Piazza Navrona enjoying the local restaurants, listening to live music and people watching. Walked to the Colosseum, Pantheon, Vatican City, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring your own coffee. We went to the little cafes for coffee, but that gets expensive. This apartment is located just across the street from a cute little restaurant called Serafini. The service is excellent and the food amazing. Give it a try.
Directions:
We had a bit of trouble finding it, but mostly because the bus had us get off way out of the way.

Janae, May

Overall:
We had a wonderful stay even though we hit the worst snow in 25 years in Rome.
Enjoyed Most:
Excellent location, very comfortable living room.
Enjoyed Least:
There was an unpleasant smell. Editor's Note: The problem has been resolved. Feb 2012.
Surrounding Area:
Walking distance to everything in historical Rome, 200 yards to Piazza Navona. Wonderful little bistro right out our front door for morning cappuccino and pastry. Excellent restaurants within walking distance
Nearby Events or Locales:
Right in center of historical Rome.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pick a restaurant, any restaurant, and enjoy
Directions:
We contracted with a transportation service to take us to and from airport
Check In Out:
Hassan met us at the apartment, did a great job explaining the apartment, how to work everything, and described the neighborhood, and gave clear directions to find local necessities, grocery, ATM, etc.

William, February

Overall:
It was comfortable and well located. Local grocery was very useful.
Enjoyed Most:
The cozy living room.
Enjoyed Least:
The late night noise in the street below from the taverns.
Surrounding Area:
Nice stores, restaurants, and taverns.
Check In Out:
The agent was very helpful with our special requests for key exchanges.

Jane, December

Overall:
Our experience was pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was comfortable and met our needs. Having air conditioning made the experience even more pleasant. We liked the lighting since in other units we rented in the past it was almost impossible to read at night. Having WiFi in the apartment made communications and other internet uses a cinch. Unlike other reviewers we didn't think that the master bedroom bed was uncomfortable. Finally, the proximity to Piazza Navona and an almost infinite choice of restaurants within walking distance from the apartment was a defnite plus.
Enjoyed Least:
We had a leak in the bathroom and the kitchen faucet was wobbly; plumbers came to fix both problems. We missed having a view. The coffee maker broke and the only one left in the kitchen was too small for the two of us. This was unfortunate since the beauty of staying in an apartment is having breakfast at home.
Surrounding Area:
The neighborhood in general was great. We were nearby to Piazza Navona, restaurants, gelaterias. We had easy access to stores; there is a very well supplied alimentari next door and a supermarket a short walk away, plus proximity to main bus lines and taxi stands.
Tips or Restaurants:
Most of the many restaurants in the proximity of the apartment are good, with some being better than others, of course. We sampled the restaurants in the neighborhood relying on our legs as the only means of transportation. We particularly enjoyed Il Cantuccio on Corso Rinascimento and Da Luigi on Piazza Sforza Cesarini, off Corso Vittorio Emanuelle, all of them within walking distance from the apartment.

Harold, July

Overall:
Very comfortable apartment in the heart of Rome.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Very near Piazza Navona. Market right next door. The Air conditioning was a pleasure to come home to. Lighting in living room was exceptional for Rome.
Surrounding Area:
Within walking distance of most sights in the heart of Rome.

Nancy, July

Overall:
We had a delightful stay at this apartment. It is nicely furnished, tastefully decorated, and well located so that we could walk to many major sights.
Enjoyed Most:
Clearly, the location is the biggest selling point of the property.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing not to like.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed being able to walk to many of the places we wanted to see. In Piazza Navona alone tourists can visit the magnificent St. Agnes Church, the Palazzo Braschi, or simply sit taking in the fountains and people watching. A few steps farther, the Sant'Andrea Church is a wow!
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurants: Virginiae, right next door at number 41, has excellent food. Be sure to try the Carciofi alla Romana La Focaccia at Via della Pace, 11 Da Luigi at Piazza Sforza Cesarini, 25. Gelato Blue Ice at Via Sant'Agnese in Agone, 20, NOT Quinta Gelaterie at Via di Tor Millina. Supermarket Carrefour Express with deceptively small frontage at Via del Governo Vecchio, 119.

Mary Lou, April

Overall:
Good, we really liked the location, the large amount of space in the apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, large amount of space, kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
Construction noise during the day, and the apartment was dusty. The mattress was uncomfortable. Need a new coffee pot.
Surrounding Area:
Piazza Navona, Pantheon, local resturants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Avoid the restaurants that tourests go to. Find the ones empty at 6:30 pm. Better eat all your big meals at lunch time and use the kitchen to make light meals for dinner. The local grocery supplied all of our at home food needs.

Marta, April

Overall:
Overall we enjoyed our experience very much. We've stayed in this apartment before so knew what is was like.
Enjoyed Most:
The very best thing about the apartment is the location. It's within easy walking distance to absolutely everything! Also, the lighting in the living room is very good, much better than in many other Italian apartments. We like to cook, and the kitchen is quite workable. The local staff, Hassan and Marco, were very responsive and accommodating.
Enjoyed Least:
Unfortunately, there was construction right next door and the workers started at 7:30 a.m. every day. After awhile, though, this became "street noise". Also, the mattress wasn't the most comfortable. Items in the apartment could have been cleaner, floor rugs, tablecloths, etc.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the fact that Piazza Navona is 2 short blocks away and that there were plenty of restaurants and shops close by. Our favorite activity was wandering the streets and discovering new delights around every corner. Rome is amazing!
Directions:
We took a taxi from the train station. The cab driver knew exactly how to find it.
Check In Out:
Hassan showed us everything we needed. It was very helpful to have a telephone to arrange meeting him when we arrived.

Bruce, December

Overall:
Wonderful apartment; very homey.
Enjoyed Most:
It was all good, but the bath tub was a welcome addition.
Enjoyed Least:
All good.
Surrounding Area:
Convenience, Safe.
Check In Out:
Hassan was great. He even walked me to the store and assisted me to carry the goodies home.

LYN, November

Overall:
It was great, the property was in the best location in Rome and you can never go hungry there. It was a lovely experience all around except for the construction on the building and on the street nearby. But the apartment itself was lovely.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the room sizes were large. Each room had air conditioning but just using one unit in the living room or bedroom was sufficient. It was the only cool place we could find to get out of the sweltering heat.
Enjoyed Least:
Just the noise factor most of all. The bed was pretty bad, each side felt as if you would roll off it. The bathroom is large and has a washing machine but of course there are no dryers. We felt as if the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. No microwave in the kitchen but that's no big deal. The refrigerator wasn't very cold at all and we had to keep our milk and yogurt in the freezer. We could make ice and that's all we really needed.
Surrounding Area:
It was the best location to walk to everywhere in Rome. There were great restaurants within a stone's throw and a market below although it wasn't open in August when were were there. It was a lively area and we felt very safe.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Just a few steps from the apt. was Piazza Navona. There more restaurants then you can imagine and bars and places for gelato. In our opinion it was the best area to stay in.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything you need is there including ice cube trays, hair dryer, flat iron, ironing board and iron, etc.

Liana, September

Overall:
The location was excellent--only a couple of blocks from Piazza Navona, and a couple of more to the Tiber. We like being in "the thick of things" sometimes, and it doesn't get any "thicker" than this. The apartment was very nicely done and it felt like "home" immediately.
Enjoyed Most:
We were especially delighted with the hot water allowance and the superb lighting--one usually does not expect to find either in Europe. But, the obviously thoughtful remodeling job supplied both. And, although we made no use of it, there are individual heaters in each room to use if it gets too chilly normally one can't access heat until November in Italy. The kitchen was well-equipped and very functional. The bed was on the hard side, but that is the way our backs like it. There was a nice alimentari next door and a comfy bar across the street for a relaxing aperitivo at the end of the day's adventure.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise factor was somewhat noticeable. We fully anticipated the late night crowds after all, this is Piazza Navona territory. There is also a condo reconstruction going on next door--it will certainly be going on for some months--the workers would start before 7:00AM each morning.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoy walking, and this apartment put us within striking distance of virtually all of Rome's historical center, particularly the Vatican and the great shops and little cafes of Trastevere, Navona, the Pantheon, Campo Dei Fiori and, with a little ambition, the Spanish Steps. But, also keep in mind that Taxis are not all that expensive in Rome and a ride in one is an adventure in itself.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You can spend a day going back and forth to Pompeii by train or bus tour.
Tips or Restaurants:
We always bring headlamps for reading tho we didn't need them here and a compass - it can save you a lot of time if you get your map begins to play tricks with your sense of direction. Also, no one but Americans seem to tip for service--there isn't even a place on most bills for tips--even those that don't have a cover charge. So you may need some cash from the ATM's, called Bancomats, which are easy to use and give very good rates. Nonetheless, if you receive good service, feel free to leave up to 10% hand it directly to your waiter along with your credit card or he or she may not get it.
Directions:
Rentvillas had a driver waiting for us at the airport--well worth it!
Check In Out:
We had a slight phone mix-up with the keyholder--our fault really--a phone card and phone booth solved it quickly. Hassan was great!

Thomas, October

Overall:
A delightful experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The location.
Enjoyed Least:
The entrance of the building.
Surrounding Area:
All of the neighborhood.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Gelateria del Teatro is not far away.
Directions:
We arranged a transfer through Rentvillas which worked perfectly.
Check In Out:
Everything worked fine.

Luz, April

Overall:
The location was great and the apartment was extremely comfortable. Our property key holder was waiting for us when we arrived. He was very detailed in how to use all of the utilities and functions of the apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
It is all about location, location, location and this was a perfect center for a Rome experience. It was a two-minute walk to Piazza Navona and minutes to other historical sights.
Enjoyed Least:
When we arrived we were told that there was construction going on next to the apartment that would not begin work until 9:00 AM and finish by 2:00 PM. This did not happen. Also, the property description stated that they had a washing machine but did not mention that a dryer was not available. We understand that the cost of a dryer and electricity in Europe are extremely high but there were no provisions made to dry our laundry. Thus a washing machine is not much of a selling point. Editor's Note: Dyers are not common in Italy, and if one had been available, it would have been mentioned in the description.
Surrounding Area:
The property was located only steps from a food market with a deli counter, a wine store, a butcher, a gelateria and green grocer. Also, there were wonderful bars and bistros for a glass of wine or an espresso and a glass of grappa. Remember, though, that the prices in the famous piazzas are inflated.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen was very well stocked. We brought many items that were suggested but not necessary.
Directions:
We arranged with Rentvillas to have a car pick us up and return us back to the airport.
Check In Out:
Our property key holder was waiting for us when we arrived. He was very detailed in how to use all of the utilities and functions of the apartment. The check out was very good. We left the keys on the table and closed the door behind us.

Robert, March

Overall:
The apartment has an excellent location, good heating and lighting, ample space for 3, and a useful kitchen. The apartment is well supplied.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is very close to Piazza Navona, which is easy walking distance to everything. The Colosseum or Villa Borghese would be about 30 minute walk. Lots of restaurants just outside the door, an alimentari right next door, supermarket 5 minute walk, near the Pantheon. Campo dei Fiore is about 5 minute walk, with Trastevere about 15 minutes.
Enjoyed Least:
The mattress was a bit firm, there was no outdoor space, no view except the pedestrian street below. Work on the building next door to re-stucco the outside made for some noisy wake-ups, but that should be finished soon. No clothes dryer but I have never seen one in Italy, so we had wet clothes drying most of the time.
Surrounding Area:
Huge array of restaurants just outside the door, with a supermarket 5-10 minutes away. This is the historic section of Rome, most of which is pedestrian zone, so no traffic, which was great for walking and low noise. Most of the sights we came to see in Rome were within walking distance.
Tips and Restaurants:
We had to buy detergent for the dishwasher. There are scores of restaurants. Prices in Trastevere were lower than around Piazza Navona. Best place, though, was Pizza Da Bafetto, just around the corner. Best we've ever had, and the price was cheap. Do not miss Bafetto. Apartment has a book full of restaurant suggestions with business cards to make it easy.
Directions:
Taxi knew how to get us there. Just be sure to tell them near Piazza Navona.
Check In Out:
The key holder was very prompt, reliable, easy to reach by cell phone, and could not have been more helpful.

David, March

Overall:
I would highly recommend this property. We have stayed in other apartments that we liked very well but this one had the extra benefit of being in a friendly neighborhood with many amenities and within walking distance of a great many key sights of Rome.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment, even though it did not have a great views, was bright and very accommodating. Marble floors, high ceilings, comfortable furniture, modern kitchen all helped to make this a good place to come "home" to. The lighting was very bright which was a surprise as most of the apartments we've stayed in before had spare lighting.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a little more noise coming from neighboring apartments than in other places we've stayed, but it wasn't bad.
Surrounding Area:
The apartment is only a block off Piazza Navona. There is a grocery store in the same building. The neighborhood is chock-full of restaurants and shops. Internet access is available around the corner. Across the street is a cafe made famous in a painting of an Italian street scene. All the major sights in Rome are within easy walking distance. It was a great neighborhood!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in the heart of historic Rome, so did most of our walking there!
Tips or Restaurants:
Things to bring would be a radio and perhaps some DVD's as there is a player available. A good "down-home" Italian restaurant in the neighborhood was Navona Notte. The staff were very friendly and the food was fast, tasty and inexpensive. One of our favorite spots is the small corner bakery in the Jewish Ghetto. They make a fabulous sweet fruit bread that is indescribable. My husband considers it the high point of Rome!

Bruce, December

Enjoyed Most:
I liked the location very close to the Piazza Navona and the ambience of the villa. I was looking for a place with Italian character, and it met my expectations. The property is managed well; Max was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
The mattress on the bed was not good. It was firm on one side but sloped and was soft on the other side. My guests said the mattress on the sofa bed also was not comfortable. Also, the owners should place at least one reading lamp in the room so that all of the overhead lights need not be used, to save electricity. The villa is located in a busy area and is noisy at night, especially on Saturdays. I was largely unaffected by the noise but I think some people would be surprised and unable to sleep.
Surrounding Area:
I liked that there were many places to eat and drink coffee nearby, and that I could walk to most places.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would not have brought a hair dryer if I had known there was one in the apartment. Your suggestions for things to bring was helpful. The owners have compiled a restaurant list for tenants which proved most helpful.
Directions:
The pre-arranged transportation from the airport was much appreciated.

Jane, October

Overall:
We really appreciated the feeling of being in a neighborhood as opposed to a hotel. The apartment was comfortable and clean.
Enjoyed Most:
It was a great location and it was spacious for a city apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
The mattress began to sag over the time we were there, and became uncomfortable.
Surrounding Area:
We liked to walk to the piazza Navona each evening and the convenient access to the market at the Campo Fiori. So many good places to eat near-by.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had a nice dinner at Ponte Parione, Via Maria Dell' Annima, 62. Great vongole.
Directions:
The directions before our arrival were a little vague. We arranged transportation through Rentvillas from the airport. We were picked up and dropped off seamlessly at a reasonable cost and the representative for the property met us at the apartment and were very accommodating.
