Customer Reviews

Overall:
Really enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was perfect for what we wanted to do, e.g. day trips, dining, walks. Kitchen was well supplied, and included a number of food basics. The balcony/patio and grounds were perfect for enjoying casual breakfasts while soaking in the view of the Mediterranean.
Surrounding Area:
Really enjoyed day trips to nearby hill towns (Ronda, Casares), Marbella and Gibraltar
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona is the closest town. You can take a nice 20-25 minute hike along the beach (rocky in places, so wear good hiking shoes) to the marina in town. Otherwise, its an easy 5 to 10 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
A rental car is pretty much a necessity, although you can access tours through a nearby hotel. La Cocina is a very good nearby restaurant (an easy walk from the property), but you'll need a car to get to any of the other quality restaurants, with many located in the Estepona Marina. Note La Menorah closed its previous location near the property and moved to the Marina. Its now called La Pintoresca.
Directions:
We used GPS to find the property without problem.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out were as agreed with no surprises. Philip, the new owner, is a great host and will go out of his way to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one.

Overall:
Fantastic! The owners Neville and Lynne were always helpful and the apartment was amazingly well stocked with all the comforts of home. The welcoming beverages were much appreciated. Lots of things to do in Estepona and surrounding towns.
Enjoyed Most:
Spaciousness and privacy
Surrounding Area:
Lots to do during day trips to surrounding areas like Ronda, Gibraltar, Tangiers, Granada.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona. Not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't need to bring anything. We enjoyed de la Mar at the waterfront for breakfast.
Directions:
Neville gave explicit driving directions and we had a GPS so had no trouble.
Check In Out:
Easy and smooth.

Karyl, October

Overall:
We had a wonderful, relaxing and enjoyable stay. The property is wonderful, well maintained, quiet, and tranquil.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is conveniently located in Estepona, near several markets, small villages, across the street from the beach and within driving distance to many great places to visit like Granada (Alhambra), Rhonda, Gibraltar, Tarifa (where you can catch a Ferry to Morocco), Marbella and Puerto Banus. Really great location! And the property has laundry which was terrific. It was free.
Enjoyed Least:
Getting there the first night was challenging because the house is in a small, residential development, and per the carefully crafted instruction of the landlord (who is magnificent!), we stopped at the near by Shell station and he promptly came to get us. I suggest connecting with Neville (the owner) in person ahead of time to understand driving directions he prepares. Do not rely on GPS. Once you see where you need to be, its a cinch.
Surrounding Area:
Very quite neighborhood, convenient to markets, several restaurants (within walking distance), center of town (Estepona) - great for seafood dinners on the beach and many day trip options to nearby villages and small towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town to Estepona is Casares. It is approx. 15 miles away (and worth visiting). Its an old, traditional Spanish whitewash village carved into the side of the mountain. Downtown Estepona is wonderful, with narrow streets and sidewalk cafes. Lovely beaches and nighttime boardwalk open till nearly 1:00 AM. Both nearby towns are not walking distance, but short car rides away.
Tips or Restaurants:
A complete must is a beach front, small, local boat stand in Estepona, which serves fresh daily catch right from the spit (located in a boat, positioned on the sand/beach). Non touristy and totally casual. Order from the daily special menu.
Directions:
Did not use GPS.
Check In Out:
Check in process was flawless. We called Neville from the airport as our flight was delayed. He was also wonderful in sending emails ahead of time to coordinate arrival, so we all knew each other's schedule.

Jen, August

Overall:
Excellence is an understatement. Rooms are sparkling clean and fresh and wonderfully equipped... kitchen with pots and pans and coffee pot and delightful plates and dishes and serving bowls. Other rooms with hair dryers, TV's, stereo music, ironing boards... it feels so personal. I can't say it's like home because I'm not pampered at home the way I was at Estepona-LaPalmera.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved it all. If I had to say what's best, it might be breakfast on the balcony overlooking a stunning view where the sky and the sea merge as if they are one... only Nature can create such a stunning work of art. I also loved Charlie, the resident canine, peeking into my kitchen window in the morning--either to check on me or to see if I had a treat.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
Getting there is part of the fun. Hosts arranged a rental car at a fee that seemed like pennies for a full week. Scenery on the drive from airport to the Villa is so stunning, you need a passenger to shoot photos along the way. No words can describe the mist over the mountains, the green in the valley, and sea alongside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona Port with shops, excursions on the sea and Wow! Fabulous dining is walkable... or it's a short taxi ride at a small fee.
Tips or Restaurants:
Fabulous restaurants. Here's a short list La Menorah is a 2-minute walk from the Villa. It's classy and tasteful, moderately priced. And the chef's creations (including the Sea Bass) are truly memorable. La Pintoresca on the upper deck at Estepona Port is casual dining at its best. You may get to meet Jose' Louis who is a world-class chef and a showman. He greets diners as he moves through the rooms on happy feet, celebrating his cuisine and his guests. When Jacob says, "I recommend to you..." take his recommendation. You'll be glad you did. Also on the upper deck is the Irish Fiddler. Crowds pour in early in the evening, drawn by a happy atmosphere, a lively band (and maybe a sing-a-long). It's a fun, happening place with a menu you'll adore.
Directions:
The host gives good directions to the Villa and the roads are well-maintained. GPS can be added to a rental car for only a few extra Euros a day.
Check In Out:
Hosts on the property are experienced professionals who added friendliness and helpfulness to my stay. They live their motto Come as a guest and leave as a friend.

Marty, May

Overall:
Very peaceful.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet and the hospitality of the hosts.
Surrounding Area:
Since driving in Spain was a bit challenging for me, I appreciated that a major hotel was a 10-minute walk away, where we could take advantage of day trips with tour companies.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona - not within walking distance, but a 5 - 10 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Menorah was an excellent restaurant and a five minute walk from the villa.
Directions:
I used a GPS and had no difficulty.

Angela, June

Overall:
Very pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
Exceptionally clean and very well furnished with everything that you could need. Loved having the laundry access.
Enjoyed Least:
Really, no issues here.
Surrounding Area:
Very well kept neighbourhood, good grocery shopping within easy walking distance.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona...walking was about 45 minutes, but not a problem overall.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything you could need is there including blow dryer and iron...Went to "Swing" restaurant which was a less than 5 minute walk - great food and service!
Directions:
The owner picked us up at the bus station...forget asking the bus driver to let you off at Hotel Elba - the bus we were on will only stop at the bus station.

Terry, June

Overall:
Very satisfied and well pleased.
Enjoyed Most:
Size and facilities. The owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and could not be more accommodating and desirous to be great hosts.
Enjoyed Least:
The size of the kitchen.
Surrounding Area:
The pool and garden plants and trees.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely bring/buy mosquito repellent! The La Minourah Restaurant is outstanding and within walking distance.
Directions:
We used a Tom Tom.

John, August

Overall:
The villa is wonderful in every way. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the property is meticulously maintained. The villa is quite spacious and has amazing sweeping views of the Mediterranean. The owner and host is very friendly and helpful and goes out his way to be helpful and accommodating -- it is like staying with friends!
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds are gorgeous. The views are astounding. The villa is very spacious. The villa is very well-stocked with just about everything you could think of needing. It is tastefully furnished and has a very light, relaxed feel. It is also in a great location on the Costa del Sol -- you can take day trips everywhere.
Enjoyed Least:
The only thing I would mention is that it's not really in a walking area. Which is fine, but if you are thinking you want to walk around to things close by, it's not really situated in such a way. You pretty much need to drive everywhere.
Surrounding Area:
We took day trips all over the Costa del Sol. Places we visited Estepona, Marbella, Casares, Mijas, Nerja, Granada, Ronda, Gibraltar, Jerez de la Frontera, and even spent a day in Tangier, Morocco! It was a very full and fun-filled week!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona. Not walking distance, but a 10 minute drive.
Directions:
We used GPS.

Peilin, June

Overall:
I just want Rentvillas to know how much we loved our place in Estepona.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was spotless, well equipped and spacious. The owners were so gracious and helpful in all areas, from providing us with staples to get started and a bottle of Cava to celebrate our arrival to drawing us little maps so we could find hiking places in the area. We loved their gardens and pool area and have already recommended this place to many of our friends.

Paul, September

Overall:
This property exceeded our expectations, and we see why people return year after year. The owners are true jewels. They are personable and witty, and will accommodate you however they can. They have great knowledge of the whole region, and include a big binder of information in each apartment. He is expert at drawing detailed maps and giving "insider tips" about parking, eating, and everything else. There's no putting a price on this kind of information - and in every way we felt this property was excellent value.
Enjoyed Most:
There's a little bit of everything here: fantastic views and beautiful landscaping, a lovely pool, very comfortable beds and furnishings, wonderful owners with a wealth of information PLUS nearby beaches, interesting day trips, great restaurants and great supermarkets.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with good pans, knives, utensils, etc., but it is definitely a one-person affair. Preparation of serious meals is a bit challenging.
Surrounding Area:
Estepona itself is delightful. It has an uncrowded, friendly beach with free parking. The port is fascinating. Estepona is also ideally situated for exploring the exquisite nearby villages of Casares and Gaucin. Jerez is an easy day trip, where you can see a spectacular equestrian dressage performance by Andalucian horses and see how sherry and Spanish brandy is made. Tio Pepe is recommended. Cordoba, which is a major attraction, is also a day trip away. Charming, luxurious Marbella is just up the highway. We really wished we had a second week.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona is the nearest small town. It is not within walking distance, but is within easy driving distance. The old town is charming. During the one week we visited, there was a bull fight in the bull ring, a monster truck show just outside town, and a Medieval festival in the pedestrianized streets in the old town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Investing in a portable GPS unit with maps of Spain loaded on it is invaluable for exploring cities. Street signs when existent are posted up high in small letters on the side of a wall. There's no way you can see what street you're on and what street you're approaching while in motion.

Jeannine, June

Overall:
We have only very nice things to say with regards to our time spent at the "Villa" in Estepona and the gracious hosts. We agreed that the villa exceeded our expectations and provided us a wonderful spot to both relax and use as a starting point for some very nice day trips.
Enjoyed Most:
The accommodations were very comfortable and the view of the Mediterranean Sea and even Gibraltar in the distance were a pleasure to behold. Possibly the best feature of our stay was the presence of our hosts, who were nothing short of wonderful as they patiently answered all of our questions and provided us with directions and offered suggestions. They gave us a few terrific restaurant recommendations that were greatly appreciated. I sincerely felt that they always had our best interests at heart and wanted us to thoroughly enjoy our time with them - and we certainly did! We give them the highest marks for hospitality and certainly recommend the villa to anyone looking for a very pleasant stay on the Costa de Sol.

Karen, October

Overall:
I would return. Most people who stay there seem to be visitors.
Enjoyed Most:
Enjoyed the quiet area and wonderful couple who made us feel at home and certainly go the extra mile. The property was very clean and well maintained and was worth the cost as compared to other rentals in North America. For our first time in Europe - we could do no better.
Enjoyed Least:
As there are 3 apartments, some privacy is foregone; however, as a family we were the intrusive ones. We met some fine travellers and this did not detract from the vacation.
Surrounding Area:
Estepona is a great mix of local and European people. It is not in the large tourist areas and the beaches are great - It is very windy some days and sand can be harsh. But sun, sun, sun! Caseres is great to visit and the view of Morocco is a wonder site.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was no town to walk to and a car is a must to go to the beaches, shopping and to explore the surrounding hills.
Tips or Restaurants:
Both La Menorah and Swing restaurants are excellent and are walking distance. The Villa has a wonderful guide of local restaurants that is accurate.
Check In Out:
Enjoy the pool after the check-out if needed.

Alain, July

Enjoyed Most:
There are a number of things that make this property ideal. First, the location of the villa is appealing as it is very quiet, yet only a few miles away from the port. Secondly, the view of the sea from the property is quite breathtaking. Finally, the owners have done quite a bit of landscaping and the property is absolutely beautiful... one could simply stay on the property the entire trip and enjoy much needed relaxation.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was somewhat small, but if you do not intend to do a lot of cooking, it is perfect. Also there is a grill outside.
Surrounding Area:
The area in which the villa is located is just a car ride away from Marbella, Ronda, Puerto Banus, etc. It is quite ideal if you are looking for a vacation in an area that is not overcome by tourists, yet offers the opportunity to visit nearby towns that are more tourist oriented. The port is quite nice and has various restaurants in which to dine along with shops. The downtown area of Estepona is quaint and a must-see.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The downtown area of Estepona is about a five minute drive from the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owners have done an exceptional job of providing everything you could possibly need on the trip. They did a wonderful job of providing ideas for restaurants, day trips etc. In fact, they have a book in the villa that lists various restaurants, day trips etc and suggestions.
Directions:
It is somewhat tricky leaving the Malaga airport, but after reading the directions in full before making any turns, we were on the right track.

Jennifer, June

Overall:
A wonderful place to relax and enjoy Andalusia!
Enjoyed Most:
The pool area was fabulous - a great place to spend a lazy afternoon. The grounds are well cared for.
Enjoyed Least:
The water pressure is sometimes hit or miss, which made some kitchen clean up and showers difficult at times.
Surrounding Area:
The villa is centrally located near some of the more amazing sights in Andalusia Gibraltar, Ronda
Nearby Events or Locales:
Estepona was about a 10 minute drive from the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you intend to cook while staying at the property, take an inventory of basics you might need to buy from the store such as oils, salt, coffee, etc.
