Overall:
Wonderful. We absolutely loved our week at the villa. The villa itself is sweet. Up the mountain from Cortona, the villa has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Lots of space, big bedrooms, well equipped, and lovely pool area.
Enjoyed Most:
The hosts. Ivan and his parents are the most charming hosts. We arrived to a plate of meats, fresh fruit, home made bread and a large tart ... and it just got better. e. Pizza night with the host family with pizza baked in their outodor wood oven, our kids playing with Dodi the dog, a walk in the garden to get things for a salad, hearing the roosters everyday, trying to communicate with Mama and Papa Giovanni, getting help on day trips, etc etc. It was amazing to spend a bit of time with this family while we stayed at the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Absolutely nothing. Pool could be a little warmer but cools down at night (which is awesome) so a fair trade-off.
Surrounding Area:
It's spectacular. The views from the villa terrace where you must sip your coffee each morning are beautiful. There is an amazing restaurant right across the street. We ended up eating there twice - highly recommend it! We ordered a bunch of things and shared with the four of us and everything - salads, steak, pizza, pasta, dessert was excellent. Cortona is a short drive and a lovely little town - make sure you go in at night a few times it's lively and lovely. We did day trips most days to places like Sienna, Assisi, and Montepluciano. Super easy with rented car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona - too far to walk for us especially on curvy roads and heat but very short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of good places to eat in Cortona - Bar 500 for lunch is kind of a must. Delicious paninis and salads. Both gelato places (Ti Amo and Snoopy) are also musts. Kids say Snoopy wins. Castel Girardi across from villa, was however, our absolute favorite for both atmosphere, service and food. Make reservations in advance for a table on Terrace - they know Ivan and family so that's a sure bet.
Directions:
Directions were fine.
Check In Out:
Super easy.

Overall:
Fantastic
Enjoyed Most:
Everything - the architecture, the views, the peaceful countryside, the grounds, the cleanliness, and the hosts were so helpful, thoughtful, pleasant, kind and accommodating.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. Everything was more and better than what we expected.
Surrounding Area:
We had rented a car, so we toured Tuscany. The scenery, the countryside and the towns and villages were all beautiful. We especially liked Cortona and Assisi.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. I would say that you definitely need a vehicle.
Directions:
We rented a car in Florence with a GPS. We turned it off and just followed the directions supplied to us by RentVillas.
Check In Out:
Everything was so easy, with the exception that Ivan wasn't home yet, so his parents met us, who also live on the property. They speak no English and we speak no Italian. We had Lots of laughs trying to figure things out. Dominica showed us around and we got along just fine. When Ivan arrived home he did the check-in thing and all was good.

Doug, June

Overall:
This property was just what we were looking for and exceeded our expectations. The owners are very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Planning to return in 2 years.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything. The area was quiet, cool mountain air in the evening, beautiful landscaping and pool. Well maintained property. Owners take pride in their property and it shows.
Enjoyed Least:
We were only there for a week. Will be sure to book a longer stay next time there.
Surrounding Area:
Very nice eating establishment across the street. The view of the valley below. The new experience of driving in Italy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was the closest town and was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car rental is essential. A good GPS is highly recommended.
Directions:
Yes we used a GPS. I don't know how you would find the place without one unless you are familiar with the area.
Check In Out:
We are from the US and had some difficulty. We had problems getting through using our cell phones. Can't really explain what the problem was. Be sure you know the international codes and how to use it.

Bob, June

Overall:
Great. We will be back.

Mike, May

Overall:
It was PURE HEAVEN!!!
Enjoyed Most:
Ivan, our host, was incredibly helpful and generous and kind! The view was amazingly beautiful and the villa was so charming and comfortable and everything we could have wanted! It was PERFECT!!!! Ivan even shared fresh eggs from their hens! What an incredible memory we will not forget!
Surrounding Area:
We loved taking day trips to nearby towns in both Tuscany and Umbria.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was down the mountain from the villa. We considered it a short drive rather than a walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant across the road is excellent. Loved the wood stove aroma in the air!
Directions:
We had a GPS but still ended up calling Ivan as we were confused in the dark and the rain! He very kindly came to where we were and let us follow him to the villa! So gracious and kind of him!
Check In Out:
Smooth as could be. Cannot say enough about the hospitality of Ivan! He is a wonderful ambassador for his country!!!

Jean, October

Overall:
It totally exceeded our expectations due to the owner's family, the property, and the breathtaking views!
Enjoyed Most:
The property was beautiful and well-maintained. The pool was lovely.
Enjoyed Least:
Small shower and scratchy towels. We missed our Keurig coffee maker!
Surrounding Area:
The people, food, and beauty of the country. We loved Cortona and all the sites we visited. Having a very good restaurant across the street was a plus.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. No, it wasn't within walking distance. You really need a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
They supplied more than we thought they would. The kitchen is completely equipped. I recommend: Osteria del Teatro (excellent). Trattoria Dardano. La Grotto Turcher. Trattoria L'Orso on Isola Maggiore on Lake Trasimeno. Snoopy's Gelato
Directions:
A full street address would be helpful. A GPS is a God send--worth its weight in gold.
Check In Out:
It was wonderful! They greeted us so warmly. Their hospitality during our stay was fantastico! We were so sad to leave the area but especially the wonderful family.

Cathy, May

Overall:
Girardi was the perfect holiday spot. We spent three weeks there and that was not enough. Was so central to train stations, easy to grocery shop and stroll the markets. Even just hanging out at the pool was a perfect day there. The gardens, just walk out and pick the fresh tomatoes for dinners pasta sauce or fresh eggs for breakfast. We loved every moment spent there.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners. Ivan and family welcomed us with open arms and made us family for the three weeks we were there. The apartment was spacious and so authentic. Full Kitchen, large bedrooms, very comfortable living room. From hanging out at the pool to lunch on the undercover deck. Coffee on the terrace for breakfast to wine in the afternoon and evening. Just a perfect getaway.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery. Everywhere you looked it was a painting. We stayed for three weeks and never tired of looking out at the expanse. We enjoyed walks ever day. Was a bit of a challenge with narrow roads and traffic, but was worth the effort.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was great to explore and we walked in a few times. Easier than trying to find a parking spot. But a very ambitious walk. Need to be a walker. 5 kms uphill back, but the scenery was well worth it. Can park at Terrone and walk in. The left fork was a little longer but so worth the walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Can not go wrong eating anywhere. The pizzeria across was the street was convenient and so good. The only thing extra I brought was laundry detergent, saved me from buying a large box for a only a few loads of laundry.
Directions:
We took a taxi from Camucia. The driver knew where the pizzeria was so there was no problem in getting there. GPS was a must to get around. Once we had rented a car we used the GPS and it was a must.
Check In Out:
So perfect. We were greeted with hugs, and left with hugs and tears.

Lauretta, September

Overall:
A very enjoyable stay overall, we'd return without any hesitation.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, view, garden with pool, just about everything, really.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting various cities, eating out, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona, I wouldn't really want to walk it unless I had to.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Pizzeria across the road is very good, as is the restaurant 2,5 Km up the hill on the Strada Provincial.
Directions:
GPS coordinates are a must, as the property doesn't have a street address. I used a Smartphone with the Sygic navigation app.

Ritchie, September

Overall:
I was overwhelmed by how perfect everything was. This vacation surpassed my expectations. I fell in love with the countryside, and the owners...with whom I have already communicated since returning. They are now part of my life...mia familia italiana.
Enjoyed Most:
The inside was very spacious, and was extremely comfortable. I loved the way the windows opened out..and there were screens in them. No mosquitoes! The property was beautiful with a pool, flowers all around, and a lovely garden.
Enjoyed Least:
I truly have nothing negative to say. Usually when I go overseas the water pressure is terrible, and the hot water runs out. Never happened here.
Surrounding Area:
Where to begin. It was breathtaking to be up in the mountains. I really didn't know that places like this existed. As you can tell, I fell in love with this area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Camucia, but nothing is walking distance. We did take walks, but the roads are very curvy, and there are no sidewalks. You do need a car at this property.
Tips or Restaurants:
This place was completely equipped: umbrellas, flashlights, CD and DVD player, candles...etc. When we arrived we were greeted with hugs...a huge platter of cheese, meats, and bread, a homemade pie, bowl of fruit, bottles of water, fresh orange juice. A very nice greeting! Two great restaurants right on the road, 34 Umbro Cortonese, which travels up the mountain and takes you to the property.
Check In Out:
Everything was smooth and easy.

Faith, July

Overall:
We had a great time. Ivan and his parents were like long lost family. Upon meeting them, we almost felt like part of their family.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. Even though outside of town, the property is very quaint and gave us a chance of exploring the countryside.
Enjoyed Least:
DVD player does not play US DVDs.
Surrounding Area:
The hilly countryside, plus the quaint Italian restaurant across the highway.
Nearby Events or Locales:
For most, except the very ambitious, Cortona is not within walking distance. Cortona is approximately 3 miles or more from the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
You really can't go wrong with any restaurant in or about Cortona and the Italian restaurant across the road.
Directions:
Did not use a GPS.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out was smooth.

Jeff, April

Overall:
Outstanding. We could not have been more pleased with the property, location, and landlord. The property was authentically restored and enhanced the experience of being in Tuscany. It provided all the amenities necessary for comfortable living. Cortona is a treat and the location offers the advantage of many side trips being within easy driving distance. The restaurant immediately across the road was both good and convenient when we did not feel like cooking or venturing out of the area.
Enjoyed Most:
As nice as the property was, the quarters, the views, the flowers and vegetation, what makes this a "don't miss" is the family that owns the villa and lives above the rental unit. They are friendly, gracious, and authentic. Meeting them was to get to know Tuscany up close and personal.
Enjoyed Least:
The only negative, a very mild negative, was the small shower. I am 6'8" which made the shower a bit of an adventure. However, it was clean and functional. If it worked for me it should work for almost everyone.
Surrounding Area:
We could have spent the whole week in Cortona. Quaint shops, fascinating history, and great restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona is not within walking distance, but it is a very short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a hearty appetite and a spirit of adventure. The local roads are a bit challenging, but with a GPS, Tuscany and beyond is yours to explore.
Directions:
As good as the directions are, we recommend a GPS. Roads, especially local roads, are not that well marked.
Check In Out:
It was perfect. We were greeted with immediate warmth and hospitality. The departure included hugs all around.

Robert, October

Overall:
A dream. It was all wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The views.
Enjoyed Least:
The restaurant next door was noisy twice in 2 weeks due to weekend diners.
Surrounding Area:
Exploring the towns of Cortona, Castigliano del Lago, driving around the lake, going into the Montepulciano area and buying wine and olive oil.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. You need a car, as it's 4 kilometers downhill.
Tips or Restaurants:
For fall bring a variety of clothes because it can be clear, rainy, cold, or warm. We thought the food in all the restaurants was wonderful. Taking a cooking class was a lot of fun. Bring (or buy there) an extra suitcase for taking things home.
Directions:
We just followed the road up. As you're coming through Torreone, when you see the sign that says "Portole", you are very close.
Check In Out:
Ivan and his whole family were warm and welcoming. As soon as we pulled in, Ivan was down to greet us.

June, October

Overall:
It was wonderful! We were welcomed and made to feel at home with fresh flowers, fruit, and homemade bread. This family really made the visit special in answering our questions, inviting us for a meal, and enjoying our expressions of delight!
Enjoyed Most:
The views are spectacular and it felt like we experienced life in Tuscany as those who live there do.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. It was all great!
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to other places of interest, the train station to bigger cities, and the local market days.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. Not within walking distance but not far by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
You must spend a day or two in Cortona and see the Santuaria di St. Margherita. Experience market days in Cortona on a Saturday or in nearby Camucia on Thursdays. Assisi is about a 45-minute drive and fascinating. Take the train into Florence. The restaurant Trescher in Cortona is excellent and has WiFi.
Directions:
Our GPS did not work well. It would have helped to have the name of the restaurant opposite our villa as we stopped at the wrong restaurant and had two stops trying to find the correct house.
Check In Out:
Very smooth. We were welcomed as we arrived and made to feel at home. Check-out was easy and we felt we were leaving new friends. This family is wonderful!

Gwen, August

Overall:
A wonderful vacation at a wonderful place!
Enjoyed Most:
The property was very clean, well maintained, and the owners were amazing!
Enjoyed Least:
It was a bit further outside of Cortona that we thought. I believe on the site it said 2 KM....but it was actually 6km.
Surrounding Area:
Cortona was great! It was very close to some amazing towns.

Chris, June

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The Italian family.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting the walled towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona--not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
You will have a wonderful time!
Directions:
We had a GPS, but did not use the coodinates. We were able to find the property easily.

Diane, May

Overall:
We loved our week. Ivan was so helpful and so pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
Very nice property. The pool area looks lovely, but it was too cool in October to swim. They grow organic veggies and raise organic chickens, which we very much enjoyed the night they cooked dinner for us.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery. We liked the restaurant across the street for its proximity. We also liked the proximity to Cortona and surrounding areas.
Tips or Restaurants:
For North Americans who are used to using wash cloths (no one in Italy uses them, not even in hotels, so bring your own). We found the food everywhere was good, but do try the restaurant acroos the street from the property, but not just for pizza.
Directions:
Used a GPS, but did not have coordinates; these would be helpful.
Check In Out:
We loved it. It was the family who made it so memorable and wonderful for the four of us.

judy, October

Overall:
It was wonderful! When I found this villa, I knew it was the one I wanted to rent and we were not disappointed. Ivan and his family were so warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and feel right at home.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The view was amazing, the villa was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The grounds and the pool were amazing. We had dinner made by Mama Giovanni and it was truly a treat. Only Ivan spoke English, but we still managed to have coffee one morning with his mother and grandmother. We all laughed and took pictures even though we weren't sure what anyone was saying! It was very easy to get to other towns, and Cortona was beautiful Surrounding Area:
We had beautiful weather so we drove around everywhere. A lot of restaurants and shopping. We took the train which was very convenient to Rome and Florence. It was fun to see how the Tuscan people live. The churches are beautiful and its well worth going in to see them.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was really in walking distance, but there are buses and trains and a few taxis if you don't rent a car. It was much easier to just have your own car. Ten minutes from Cortona is a beautiful Lake and town. The town is called Castiglione Del Lago. Very pretty, and there's a castle you walk through.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good walking shoes and comfortable clothes are essential. No need to dress up as it is very casual. Bring less clothes so you can shop and bring things back in your suitcase. The restaurants in Cortona were all good. Pizza and pasta are the main menu. Paninis all over the place for lunch.
Directions:
We had a GPS and that came in very handy and gave very good directions.

Nancy, October

Overall:
Fantastic. The owners who live upstairs are brilliant.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything was great. The owners were so friendly and giving. We felt like part of their family.
Enjoyed Least:
The shower could have been a bit larger, but was fine.
Surrounding Area:
Views were magnificent. There are excellent restaurants right across the street.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona is the nearest town. It's possible to walk, but it was about an hour's walk down a steep hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Trattoria Grotto in Cortona is an excellent restaurant.

Roy, October

Overall:
Memorable and unique largely due to the family who owns the property. Relaxing and a definite recharge. Appreciation of simplicity and back to basics.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were without rival. The pool and garden area are pristine and perfectly maintained. The crowing roosters, the vegetable garden, and the friendship that developed with the family made it feel authentically Tuscan. Ivan and his family were relentless in making sure all our needs were met. Being able to wash clothes and peg on line to dry in the wonderful breeze...such a bonus for travellers! Enjoying a caffe' with Domenica!
Enjoyed Least:
The lounge furniture was a little uncomfortable. The cane chairs were a bit light weight and easily tipped when trying to get up from them. The bathroom was fine for two people but we struggled with four guests.
Surrounding Area:
Views. The walks to Portole, Torreone passed Bramesole into Cortona town, up to Santa Margherita Chiesa and into town through the residential and University area. The restaurant over the road has great staff, food, and atmosphere. The drive to Celle, a Fransciscan Hermitage. The views to Lake Trasimeno. Good COOP in neighbouring Camucia but fresh food in Cortona is great - meat, fruit etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Portole, about 2-3 kms. Bar and general store/cafe. Torreone, Il Bar and cafe. 3-4 Kms. Cortona itself. If you are a walker then all are quite manageable, otherwise you can drive to Torreone, park, and walk to town past Bramesole and along the gravel road. Traffic expects to come across walkers and cyclists, so walk with confidence!
Tips or Restaurants:
Previously mentioned pizzeria across the road from the villa. La Logetta in Cortona. Maybe some DVD's for nighttime entertainment---we stayed a month. Internet available at San Michele in town plus free Wifi at winebar at the end of the main street. Tomtom very helpful. Car essential.
Directions:
Yes we used a GPS but you need to know what to enter. 'Go up the hill for 2 Km' is misleading and incorrect. It is at least 4-5 kms and the Pizzeria is Castel Giradiregion, not the villa. The road sign with the number 9 is a good indication that you are a few bends away. If you pass number 10 you are too far ahead. I believe that soon Ivan is to provide GPS coordinates which should resolve confusion

Wendy, July

Overall:
I do not believe that our trip would have been as special if we had not stayed at Girardi! Ivan and his family are such so SPECIAL! They took us into their villa and made us feel like family. The villa and property are SPECTACULAR!and the memories that Ivan and his family made possible for us are PRICELESS. From the time we arrived at the villa and were welcomed with fresh fruit, a homemade apricot tart, bread, fresh assortment of meats, cheeses and olives to the family dinner of homemade pizzas in their brick oven, the hike to the top of the mountain to see the spectacular views and pick wild flowers... we were overwhelmed. Words cannot describe the experience....you MUST go to find out for yourself!
Enjoyed Most:
EVERYTHING! The villa is well equipped with everything you need to feel like you are at home. The furnishings are beautiful antiques and with such a warm feel of Italy! It was very peaceful and comfortable. Nestled into the mountains with a view that you could only dream about. The gardens are beautiful full of flowers, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables. We did NOT want to leave!
Enjoyed Least:
NOTHING!
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful countryside. Cortona and Camucia are great places to go shopping. Lots of local artists and fabulous restaurants to eat at.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You need to have a car here. The villa is located high up a mountain with a very winding road to get to it. It only takes 5-7 mins to get to Cortona by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
YOU MUST STAY HERE!!! You need nothing extra. The villa has everything you need, even a washing machine and hair dryer. The restaurant across the street is excellent! In Cortona, we ate at Bar 500 which had the BEST Panini sandwiches that I had ever eaten! Great prices, too!
Directions:
A GPS is a MUST if you want to get around anywhere in Italy. The train station is in close proximity and was a very reliable and easy way to get to other areas such as Rome and Florence.

Helen, May

Overall:
Beautiful location that provided a great base for a restful week.
Enjoyed Most:
The log fire was particularly welcome as the weather became colder towards the end of the week. The location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area. Ivan and his family were extremely welcoming and their occasional visits with food were wonderful! Ivan speaks English very well and was able to give us some useful tips about travelling locally
Enjoyed Least:
The family live upstairs and understandably need to get up early to go to work. Unfortunately the sound of their feet on the tiled floor did wake us up earlier than we had planned!
Surrounding Area:
Cortona is a wonderful old town and having been several times before to the region it was enjoyable visiting some of the towns and cities once again that we are becoming familiar with.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona is not within easy walking distance unless you like walking 6km up and down a mountain!
Tips or Restaurants:
The Pizzeria across the road is well worth a visit, if only for convenience. Go to the Teatro Signorelli in Cortona. The restaurant in the Theatre doesn't look exotic but Lily makes the best Italian food we have ever tasted - and we have tasted a lot of food in or time. Ivan provided us with enough food to last us for a day or so, so if you arrive late don't worry.
Directions:
The villa is much further out of Cortona than you might expect. Aim for Portole and if you get to the junction there you have gone too far.
Check In Out:
Smooth, friendly and efficient

Philip, October

Overall:
Wonderfully welcoming family, very comfortable and charming house, great pool area (too cold for us to swim), incredible views, nice location.
Enjoyed Most:
Views, the welcoming Italian family, charming bedrooms, amazing dinner.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints... the shower could be larger, but it was fine.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful countryside, easy to get everywhere -- day trips to Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia, Citta di Castello, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The only minor issue for us was that we couldn't walk to town. We're happy with long walks, but the road is narrow and twisting with steep drop-offs, and not suitable for walking to get to the nearest cafe.
Tips or Restaurants:
Internet service at the wine bar in Cortona at the end of the main shopping street is the best way to get online. Have a bottle of wine, sit outside, and enjoy the Internet access while you watch the passeggiata.

Charles, October

Overall:
Outstanding! Overall, we considered this to be the best of a number of holiday rentals that we have enjoyed.
Enjoyed Most:
While we liked everything about the property, probably the single thing that set it apart was the Italian family.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing that we disliked about the property.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the surrounding area immensely, and still many attractions remain. I guess the day spent between Montalcino and Montepulciano was the highlight. Be sure to reserve a table on one of the tiny terraces at Caffe Poliziano in Montepulciano and enjoy the food, the view, and a bottle of Montelpulciano's great white wine. The country along the roads in this area are the iconic Tuscan vistas with rolling green hills and rows of cypress trees. Unfortunately, no sunflowers in April.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was about 5km away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The property is very well equipped. No need to bring anything. If one wants Mamma Domenica to provide a meal, probably best to give her as much warning as possible, but do ask, as it's a real treat!

David, May

Overall:
The vistas were magnificent. The family is what makes this place special. They are kind, engaged and outgoing. We had two lovely meals prepared by MaMa Italiana and they were both exceptional.
Enjoyed Most:
The family was so kind. I became sick during our stay and they made me soup and made sure that I had whatever medical attention was needed. It is so horrible to be sick away from home, but they made it bearable. I am sure it was the soup that mended me.
Enjoyed Least:
Finding it was difficult.
Surrounding Area:
We drove each day to some place new. We visited some of the war sites for Hannibal vs the Romans. Great. We went to Siena, Cortona, Rome, Florence, and more. The villa is so centrally located, all of Italy seemed within our grasp.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was maybe 5 minutes drive. However, there is a great little restaurant across the street that is open for dinner and we had dinner there a couple of times. Affordable and good food.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa has a washer and dryer. I bought laundry detergent. The villa was well equipped and lacked for nothing. If I had known how well the kitchen was equipped, I might have been prepared to cook a little more.

Victoria, September

Overall:
Excellent, sensational, perfect!! We spent 5 weeks in Italy. Our 7 days at this villa in Tuscany was definitely the highlight of our holiday.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything!! but I would have to say that the owner and his family made it most memorable. Their kindness and hospitality will never be forgotten.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing everything was great.
Surrounding Area:
Scenic with good views over the valley, Lake Trasimeno, and the hills. Great location for visiting and touring Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona is a gorgeous town, not within walking distance though. As this is a rural area you will most certainly need a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
On arrival in the fridge was a beautiful platter of traditional Tuscan salami's, cheese and meats. There was a freshly baked tart as well as fresh fruit, local olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The restaurant across the road is definitely worth visiting.
Check In Out:
The check in-out process was excellent. No issues or complaints here.

Liz, May

Overall:
Phenomenal!! It exceeded all my expectations.
Enjoyed Most:
The genuine beauty and Tuscan warmth were only exceeded by the beautiful, warm family upstairs.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing less than dreamy about this property.
Surrounding Area:
The lush landscape, spectacular food, friendly people, quintessential Italian village...I could go on forever!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was more beautiful than I expected and I would've walked if I had to, but luckily we rented a car and enjoyed Cortona and other Tuscan villages throughout the week.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just bring what you would normally pack on a trip. There is a washing machine for laundry. We really enjoyed going to the Co-op in Camucia and shopping for basics along with great food we can't get in our market. Spectacular Italian wine for a fraction of the price we normally pay. We didn't have any mediocre food in this region. The restaurant across the street just so happens to have wonderful food and ambiance. I highly recommend the gnocchi.
Directions:
We did use a GPS, it got us close but not completely on the mark. Luckily, everyone was very kind and knew the owners and how to locate their property. If someone doesn't know them just ask for directions to Castle Girardi Pizza.
Check In Out:
I couldn't believe how welcomed we felt when we arrived and there was wonderful food and wine waiting for us along with warm smiles and a family eagerly anticipating our visit.

Janet, April

Overall:
Outstanding! We loved the place. It was very comfortable, well furnished and well located. It was a great place to travel from, even as far as Ravenna and back in a day. Stocking the kitchen was easy, and it was fun to "play house" in a place so thoughtfully prepared for renters. Rentvillas is fortunate to have this place on its list.
Enjoyed Most:
The Italiani family upstairs. They were all delightful, and Ivan, the son who really interacts with renters, couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Very good English. He arranged for his mother to cook 2 meals for us - both fabulous, and was always arriving with fresh eggs, fruits and vegetables, and helpful suggestions.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. It was all outstanding.
Surrounding Area:
Magnificent views over the Tuscan hills, and the location for enjoying the entire area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was 5 kilometers away.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car is a necessity. Place is fully furnished, kitchen and otherwise. The trattoria across the street is excellent, and the place up the road a kilometer or two at Portole served excellent food with essentially no ambiance, however. Be sure to have Mamma Italiana cook a couple of dinners for you---a great cook.

John L., October

Overall:
The Castel Girardi experience was spectacular. The facility is historic, comfortably appointed, beautifully maintained and provides unbelievable views of the area. I would highly recommend Castel Girardi to anyone who wants access to the major sites of central Tuscany but also wants a great hideaway for he occasional down day or evening by the very private pool.
Enjoyed Most:
The on-site owners provided many delightful surprises including fresh flowers, herbs, fruit, vegetables, and occasional pastry. They very tactfully determined how much interaction we wanted and were willing to accommodate our wishes. We chose to get to know them and found it to be a very important and rewarding part of our vacation. We found the kitchen to be generally well outfitted for all but the most extreme gourmet cooking and were delighted to find most condiments either in the cupboard or in the garden.
