Customer Reviews

Overall:
Our group of six adults had a wonderful stay at Villa Veronique.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa is beautiful, well appointed, clean, roomy, quiet and comfortable. We spent some half days at the villa to enjoy the pool, relax in the beautiful yard and dine at home. Most everything we needed for cooking was available. Everything in the villa was in working order and the pool was cleaned every day. The villa key holders were kind and helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
There was no clothes line. The bathrooms lacked hooks.
Surrounding Area:
We dined and shopped in the town of Chateuarenard a couple of times but nothing to recommend. Each morning we traveled 8 minutes to a wonderful bakery for fresh baguette and croissants. Our visit focused on visiting many hill towns. As the villa is centrally located, most towns and sights are no more than a 45 minute drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No towns are within walking distance. As advised, our group of 6 adults rented two small cars instead of one larger van. This proved to be an important suggestion as driving on mountain roads and parking would have been difficult with a large van.
Directions:
We arrived in Marseilles, rented our cars and drove to the Villa. The GPS worked perfectly.
Check In Out:
Checking in and out went smoothly. Our key holder was prompt and helpful.

Overall:
Great villa. Good location to Avignon and surrounding area. Very comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
It was beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
Could have had some more cooking utensils.
Surrounding Area:
Very private. Close to a number of small towns to visit.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Chauteaurenard; we drove each time.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you are eating at home, be sure buy groceries before Sunday evening.
Directions:
The GPS will take you a number of different ways to get to the villa.
Check In Out:
The check in and out went very smoothly.

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
The spaciousness of the house and the pool.
Enjoyed Least:
Had issues with the toilet downstairs.
Surrounding Area:
The places that we visited.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Avignon - not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
I was under the impression that all rooms had a queen size bed; that was not the case in 2 bedrooms. Editor's Note: There are four double bedrooms; 3 bedrooms have king-size beds, and one bedroom has a queen-size bed. In addition, there is fifth bedroom with a single bed.
Directions:
The directions were great. We had GPS.

Overall:
Very nice villa, very quiet, modern amenities combined with traditional design. Nice olive orchard that occupies half of the territory. Heated pool with pool house equipped with shower, towels etc.
Enjoyed Most:
The combination of traditional style and modern comfort. And very quiet atmosphere.
Enjoyed Least:
There was road work and a detour (which our GPS didn't recognize), which caused us to miss the turn-off to the villa a couple of times. But it was temporary.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. The local, country style living, small city next to the villa, not crowded with tourists. The knowledge of French would be helpful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Chateaurenard. It takes you 10 minutes to get there by car. Not walking distance, but very close by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
A lot of cute restaurants and cafes in Chateaurenard. The food is very tasty everywhere, (not to mention the coffee, which is delicious!). As for things to bring - we were pleasantly surprised, because we were told to bring literally everything ( towels, soap, toilet paper, salt, pepper etc.) BUT we found everything in the villa, including the fully equipped kitchen, including coffee, sugar, salt, pepper etc supply. Coffemaker, microwave, china, forks, spoons - literally everything. Pool towels, bath towels, washer/dryer, dishwasher - just name it.
Directions:
Yes, we used the GPS. It's not difficult to find the villa, the only obstacle was the road work, as we mentioned here above.
Check In Out:
We came within the time frame scheduled for check-in and check-out, so we didn't have any problem. We called the property manager a day before our arrival, and when we were 40 minutes before coming to the destination, we called to let him know that we are coming.

Overall:
This is a beautiful property that is very well maintained. Pride of ownership is clear. We had a great time in the pool, playing bocce and riding bikes. The key holder was kind enough to drive us to the grocery store so we could stock up the kitchen. That was above and beyond, which was much appreciated.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The bedrooms are ensuite so everybody had some privacy. The living room, dining room and kitchen are spacious and well laid out. We loved the traditional Provencal architecture of the property. The pool was a big hit!
Enjoyed Least:
Out of the control of the owners there was road construction a few feet away from the property which resulted in a significant amount of dust in the air during the day. The good news is we were out most days so we were only impacted negatively a couple times. There was a little dog who belonged to a nearby home that spent quite a bit of time barking in our yard. The youngest traveler in our group (11) was quite scared a few times.
Surrounding Area:
St. Remy de Provence was a fabulous experience. The asylum that Van Gogh stayed at was an unexpected surprise, we loved it! After our tour of the asylum we experienced the town and enjoyed cold beverages while watching live music in the square. The evening was topped off with dinner in town. The villa is very centrally located to many Provencal towns and sightseeing opportunities.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Chateaurenaud was not within walking distance but we rented cars so no inconvenience whatsoever.
Tips or Restaurants:
Other reviews mentioned the need for additional toilet paper which we did buy at the market. If you're a fan of face cloths you may want to bring one with you; the house is not supplied with them, which is fairly typical of the region. Other than that the home was very well stocked with pots pans, books, games, tourist information, and bikes.
Directions:
No problems with directions. GPS got us right there.
Check In Out:
Excellent service.

Overall:
We had a very pleasant week at villa Veronique.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location within a short driving distance to many local attractions. We only saw a tip of the iceberg. Villa is very private, nicely decorated in distinctive Provence style.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a wasp nest outside the garage.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The centre of the nearest small town is within 3-5 min drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many good restarunts in St. Remy, 10-15 min drive depending on the road you choose.
Directions:
Our GPS refused to cooperate, we called the owner and she graciously came to fetch us. We were 3 min away. With properly working GPS, finding the villa won't be problem.

Overall:
This is the fifth villa I have rented from RentVillas.com, and as usual, the experience was more than satisfactory.
Enjoyed Most:
We enjoyed the size and layout of the villa, the pool, and the patio area.
Enjoyed Least:
Not much.
Surrounding Area:
Proximity to Avignon.
Directions:
We did not rely on directions, rather a GPS. It took us to the keyholder's house who led us a short distance to the villa. I would recommend a GPS for anyone traveling to and driving in Europe.
Check In Out:
The 1000 euro deposit is excessive. Luckily, we were in France for a couple of weeks prior to our arrival at the villa so we could stock up on Euros from the ATM's along the way. We received all of the deposit back when we departed, then had too much cash and needed to trade it at an unfavorable rate on the way home.

Overall:
Once we got there, it was fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners were wonderful. Incredibly nice and accommodating. Suggested things for us to do without being obtrusive. Lent us toys for the children to play with. Recommended an awesome babysitter who although she did not speak much English was wonderful with the children. I also have to mention the grounds which included not only a nice size pool with security cover but also beautiful landscaping befitting the setting, an olive tree grove, a nice terrace where we took all our meals, and a covered patio by the pool with lounge chairs and another dining area.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen was not well equipped in terms of cooking tools and utensils ie pots, pans, cutting board, knives, mixing bowls, etc. No problem with plates, bowls, glasses, eating utensils, though.
Surrounding Area:
Many points of interest less than an hour away so that we could do a little sightseeing each day and still had plenty of time at the pool in the afternoon and to make dinner in the evening.
Tips or Restaurants:
GPS is a must! If you plan on cooking a lot, plan to buy kitchen tools on site or improvising.

Sonia, June

Overall:
We thought the property was a great value. Everything was new, but it was built in the old style, with plaster, tiles, and big wooden beams. All the furnishings were very nicely appointed, with modern appliances, TVs, and comfortable furniture. The people who owned the villa were very nice and helpful, and everything was extremely clean and well cared for.
Enjoyed Most:
The outside was great, with a super heated pool and lovely patio. Even though the weather was quite cool at night, the pool cover and the heat kept it very pleasant to swim in. Very private, fenced, with olive trees and a nice garden. Also, all the bedrooms were pretty equal, with their own bathrooms, and great beds and modern showers, etc. You could very comfortably have 4 couples there without getting on top of each other.
Enjoyed Least:
The development where the house is located is not yet finished, so one sees some half-finished villas. However, our villa was still very private, and all the electric fencing gave one a good feeling of security. The security deposit was high, and they wouldn't take a credit card.
Surrounding Area:
It was in an excellent location - close enough to the Autoroute to easily get to lots of places. Avignon, St. Remy, Arles, Aix, the Luberon were all in easy driving distance. We wished we could have stayed longer, as there were a few other places we would have liked to see.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Chateaurenard. Excellent town, very pretty, with a historic part, as well as good supermarkets, and a WONDERFUL open air market on Sunday morning. Lots of vendors, fresh foods, etc. Not really within walking distance, but VERY close, a few kilometers. You definitely need a car for this villa, but you would want one anyway if you are doing day trips.
Tips or Restaurants:
You really don't need anything but your own toiletries, soap, toilet paper. Good washer and dryer, plus a drying line out back. Restaurants in Chateaurenard weren't memorable, but St. Remy and Avignon both have lots of good spots. Take your pick.
Directions:
We didn't use a GPS but Mapquest is a MUST!! If you need to ask for directions, it's very helpful if someone in your party speaks passable French.

Jane, October

Overall:
The week in Provence was superb. The villa was grand in scale and in excellent condition.
Enjoyed Most:
The solitude and the privacy
Enjoyed Least:
Better to use a GPS than the written directions. The villa lacked important small items such as sufficient TP. The owners were not well experienced landlords. The requirement for a 1000 Euro security deposit in cash was a bit extreme.
Surrounding Area:
The property is centrally located in Vaucluse, so no site is more than 75 minutes away, most are less than an hour's distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best eating was in St. Remy rather than Chateaurenard. On Sundays, there is a very good market for food in Chateaurenard.
