Customer Reviews

Overall:
Excellent property. This was our 4th rental, and by far the best.
Enjoyed Most:
The view of the Giudecca Canal and Venice was spectacular. The bed was very comfortable. The manager, Luca was very helpful and spoke fluent English.
Enjoyed Least:
The living area was a little cramped, but as we rarely used it, it really was not a big issue. The bathroom shower was very small, but it served its purpose.
Surrounding Area:
Giudecca was lovely and far less crowded then Venice or Murano. The local restaurants are ho-hum but there are plenty of little stores with great produce and other food products near by. The rooftop bar at the Hilton next door has one of the best views in all of Venice.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stay away from any restaurants that show pictures of their food. Try to not eat in crowded piazzas. Around Accademia there are a few very good restaurants Blu Art, La Bitta and a little place right outside the Hotel American These are all a 5-minute walk from the first Hilton shuttle stop. Highly recommend the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and a day trip to Burano for the colorful houses. Murano is great but be careful about buying the art glass there. Most of it can be purchases in Venice for about 20 Euros less. Day trips to Verona, Padua and Florence are well worth it. Another great food idea is the Kebab stands and also a trip to the Jewish Ghetto and finding a Kosher restaurant. They do things with artichoke that are other worldly. We highly recommend Rick Steve's travel books. He provides some great tips on avoiding unnecessary hassles.
Directions:
Directions from the train station would be great. All of the directions were from the airport.
Check In Out:
No - it was excellent.

Overall:
Very positive. It was great to return to the quiet of Giudecca 6 after a day in the heavily touristed Venice City.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet. The local neighborhood and markets. The bed was quite comfortable also.
Enjoyed Least:
The living/dining area. We appreciated the provisions stocked in the kitchen, but would have preferred Italian foods, instead of American ones.
Surrounding Area:
The views. The local neighborhood.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring lots of money for Harry's Dolce.
Directions:
We used the directions provided. The Taxi captain knew where the Stuckey Hilton was and headed there.
Check In Out:
No. Smooth sailing there.

Overall:
This was my 2nd stay at this property and I highly recommend it. Great location and great value. I will return a third time.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and size of the apartment. Giudecca is a lovely island to stay on.
Enjoyed Least:
The lobby is somewhat dark.
Surrounding Area:
Charming with several excellent local restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The whole Island itself is a small town and totally walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stay as long as you can and get off the tourist track and walk walk walk.
Directions:
The directions were perfectly adequate
Check In Out:
Very smooth and efficient

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience. Nothing to complain about at all! We were very impressed with the local agent.
Enjoyed Most:
Its location, both because it was quiet, and because there was some physical respite from the hustle and bustle of all the tourists in Venice.
Enjoyed Least:
The small shower. But it isn't a huge problem.
Surrounding Area:
Very quiet, at least at that time of year, and close to many small and quite affordable local places to eat and drink a glass of wine.
Directions:
There is a non-existent numbering system on buildings in Venice. I think you have done about as well as you can with the directions.

Enjoyed Most:
Very comfortable and pleasant decor. Private and good access. The provisions were very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
I was happy with everything.
Surrounding Area:
Good location - and used the Hilton Water Taxi easily to get across to where the action was.
Directions:
WATER TAXI STRAIGHT TO THE DOOR!

Overall:
Bottom line is that the apartment was wonderful! There are 14 cathedral windows in the unit. Each one opens to a view of the Grand Canal and downtown Venice across the canal. It really is beautiful! The keyholder showed us around the apartment - very spacious two bedroom and two bathroom unit. A very large open kitchen. He explained that the Hilton maid service would clean our apartment daily and would also re-stock the refrigerator with things we could have for breakfast. A loaf of bread would also appear daily. The refrigerator had a fresh package of cotta proscuito, cream cheese, various jams and jellies and yogurt containers. Coffee and tea were also provided. The apartment is very nicely appointed with comfortable furniture. There is cable TV in the apartment, but we never used it. The Keyholder went on to explain that we had use of the free water taxi from the Hilton next door and provided us with a schedule. He also told us we could use the concierge service at the hotel.
Enjoyed Most:
The glistening hardwood floors are magnificent! Both bathrooms are fully tiled and were extremely clean. The upstairs bedroom was not used by us but looked very comfortable. The downstairs bedroom with its antique-looking armoire was very nice and the bed quite comfortable. More windows overlooking the Grand Canal - what a beautiful sight to wake up to!
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Tips or Restaurants:
We found a booklet with interesting things to do on Giudecca including shops and restaurants. We found a $$ (their rating system was $ to $$$$) restaurant that had a good review in the booklet. We walked down to make reservations for dinner later. The restaurant is named Harry's Dolci. White dinner jacketed wait staff greeted us and took our reservation. This is definitely not your Levi and sweatshirt kind of restaurant. Our dinner was very nice, if rather expensive. The next day we ventured across the Grand Canal. The Hilton water taxi takes about 5 minutes to cross and typically makes 3 stops before returning. I say typically because they do not always make all three stops. The schedule tells you which trips skip stops - just pay attention. We found a restaurant named Ristorante Pizzeria al Redentor next to the church of the Redentor. It's a neighborhood restaurant with more locals than tourists. I chose the lamb chops which were delicious. A bottle of wine, appetizers and entrees our bill was E27. The service was great! We had stopped by the concierge desk to inquire about a water taxi to the airport. He made arrangements for us and informed us the cost would be E100 not including tip. A vaporetto would have taken us around 2 hours to get to the airport. We needed to be there by 9 AM so opted for the more expensive but considerably faster water taxi. Our driver was courteous and delivered us at the airport in about 25 minutes.
