Customer Reviews

Overall:
Absolutely fabulous! The views from every window and the expansive outdoor areas are breathtaking. The owner/host, Palmi, was accommodating, generous, thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to make our Tuscan experience unforgettable..
Enjoyed Most:
The views from the expansive terrace were absolutely amazing. Every morning I jumped out of bed to watch the sun wash over the valley below the villa. Incredible! We took advantage of the breakfast service which made every morning special.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing that I didn't like about our experience. I chose not to drive and had our host arrange a van service for our excursions. I imagine that if I was driving the steep winding road that brings you to the Villa could be somewhat stressful.
Surrounding Area:
Really everything. It is quintessential Tuscany at its best. The closest town, Coreglia Antelminelli is a 15 minute walk away and had a wonderful little restaurant, good gelato, and at least 2 bars. We also visited Barga, a 15 minute drive, which is a Charming walled town with several restaurants and stores. We did a day tour of Lucca which was a 30 minute drive away. Lucca is a historic walled city with lots of stores, restaurants, churches, galleries and mansions.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Coreglia Antelminelli is just a 15 minute stroll away. It is worth visiting.
Tips or Restaurants:
My suggestions are 1) do the breakfast at the villa. Its a great way to start the day. 2) have a wine tasting with Palmi. I told him that I loved Super Tuscans and Amarone's, so he ed his favorites and added a Brunello and a good red table wine. Amazing! I loved the chefs that Palmi arranged. I highly suggest having them demonstrate how to make pasta one night, and definitely have them use the wood burning pizza oven at least once.
Directions:
I had the host pick us up in Pisa. I found this to be a low stress way to get to the Villa.
Check In Out:
Check in Check out was a breeze.

Overall:
The setting is beautiful with spectacular views. The villa is well-maintained and the grounds are lovely.
Enjoyed Most:
The views and the grounds.
Enjoyed Least:
The drive to the property. The road up is narrow and steep.
Surrounding Area:
The mountains are just beautiful and exploring the small mountain towns in the area is a lot of fun.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The village of Coreglia Antelminelli is about a 15 minute walk from the villa -- lots of hills up and back. But it is a lovely village and to throw back our shutters each morning and see the village across the valley was a true joy.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen is well-equipped, except there was no American-style drip coffee maker. We had to be shown how to use the on-the-stove Italian espresso maker. It makes great coffee once you get the hang of it. There is a restaurant on the town square of Coreglia Antelminelli that was very nice (L'Arcile) -- Jacopo is a great host!
Directions:
GPS is really a must -- it's not always reliable, but it proved to be extremely helpful in getting around. The directions are fine.
Check In Out:
All went fine.

Enjoyed Most:
It was quaint and the view/sunset was spectacular.
Enjoyed Least:
The location of the villa was more remote that we expected.
Surrounding Area:
The walk to the village was delightful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Coreglia Antelminelli. It was small but charming and we ate at the restaurant 2 nights. The walk was 20-35 minutes depending on the destination in town.

Overall:
Perfect.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa and pool.
Surrounding Area:
Food and wine.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not within walking distance but a short drive to many small towns: Bagni di Lucca, Lucca, Florence (by train), and Siena.
Tips or Restaurants:
Antica Locanda di Sesto and L'Arcile. There is also a great restaurant that the key holder can tell you about with a gorgeous view.
Directions:
The directions were good. Also, know that there are signs in the town that look like they may indicate that vehicles cannot go through, but they can!
