Customer Reviews

Overall:
Phenomenal! We absolutely loved it!!
Enjoyed Most:
How serene it was. We were truly able to connect as a family, and yet retreat our separate ways when we wanted to.
Enjoyed Least:
The guest house had an ant problem. Also there was no hot water in one of the bathrooms.
Surrounding Area:
It was beautiful and peaceful...yet we weren't far from lots of fantastic things to see do. Just perfect.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Boulbon. No, it was not.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely bring-in the chef, Jose!! And bring A LOT of bottled water...it's hot. Last but not least something to keep the mosquitos away.
Directions:
The directions were great! The GPS coordinates into Google Maps also worked perfectly.
Check In Out:
Couldn't have been better. Abdou was one of the highlights of our vacation!!!

Overall:
Last year we came away from our preview of the property and pleasurable meeting with the owner knowing that our family would be pleased with the stay this summer. We were certainly not disappointed. All of us found the villa to be clean, roomy, beautifully maintained, and private. It more than met our expectations.
Enjoyed Most:
We were most impressed with the owner's attention to detail. Literally everything we needed and expected was provided. The interior decoration as well as the very extensive millwork and cabinetry are carefully thought out out and extraordinarily done. All of our family enjoy cooking and with the beautifully equipped kitchen, we chose to stay home for most meals. The pleasure of after dinner hearts or cribbage games played with the children on the carriage lighted outside table will not be forgotten soon.
Enjoyed Least:
Difficult to find fault with anything. We were there during an extreme heat wave with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees on occasion. The free-standing air conditioning units did an adequate job of cooling for a good night's sleep. The few mosquitoes were not a problem.
Surrounding Area:
Absolutely loved driving less than 2 miles each morning to the very small town of Boulbon. Here we found everything we needed for meals for the day. There is a small but well equipped grocery store, a good boulangerie and an excellent butcher shop. For other needs, a 10 minute drive to Barbentane offers more shopping including a supermarche,
Nearby Events or Locales:
Boulbon as mentioned above is the nearest town and could be walked to within a half hour or so each way.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pizza de la Tour in Barbentane and particularly Decouverte in St. Remy were good finds.
Directions:
One thing which might be mentioned is the turn off highway D81 involves entering a road marked 'no entry'. Confused us a bit the first time but okay thereafter and the directions to the property were very complete. We did use a GPS system and would advise all drivers do so.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out were very easy. The keyholder, Abdou, speaks very little English but 3 in our crowd spoke some French and we had no problem communicating. He is a kind, respectful gentleman whom we grew to enjoy. He even baked a wonderful chocolate granache cake for us one evening.

Overall:
It is a wonderful villa, close to many things to do and see. We had a group ranging in age from 21-79 and the layout of the home was perfect.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful interior decor and the grounds.
Enjoyed Least:
Having to deal with the manual A/C.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Boulbon; yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Great restaurant at the hotel in the village.
Directions:
We used a GPS and it worked perfectly.

Overall:
Very nice and very well located for day trips. Somewhat out of the way to get groceries etc, but overall very, very nice!!
Enjoyed Most:
The lay out of the villa very well arranged to accommodate 4 to 5 couples. Also, it did provide a quiet week, without the hustle and bustle of city life!!
Enjoyed Least:
As stated, it was a little far to restock food, etc.
Surrounding Area:
Taking day trips to the small cities and seeing many very old churches and castles; just driving through the countryside and seeing what Southern Farance looked like!!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
It was not within walking distance; I would say it was about 4-5 miles away!!
Tips or Restaurants:
Just bring lightweight cloths if in summer or late summer (do not know about winter). We did find a nice restaurant in the Hotel at Bolduian, close to villa. Very nice but very expensive!!
Directions:
We did use GPS and had no issues finding this location.
Check In Out:
It was OK, just hard to communicate (language problem).

Overall:
it was terrific--once we found the place. Abdou, the caretaker, couldn't have been nicer. It was necessary to speak French, which several of us did, and he was very helpful. Twice he brought us a dessert tarte he had made himself. He also went with us the first night to find some food, because it was late before most people arrived. And the property itself is breathtaking.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were magnificent, and very well cared-for. The kitchen had everything we needed, since we cooked each night for 11. The house itself was very luxurious and comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
The signage is missing, so it was hard to find.
Surrounding Area:
The local French villages were wonderful for the fresh produce and for the history. St. Remy, Les Baux and Avignon seemed to be the favourites.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Boulbon was the nearest small town, and it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We all had a very good and cheap meal at the St. Jean restaurant in Tarascon we mainly did our own cooking at night and found even the local grocery stores had everything delicious and fresh that we needed. Wine was unbelievably cheap - bring a good corkscrew, since the one in the villa was so-so probably because people would tend to go off with it.
