Customer Reviews

Relaxing, quiet week surrounded by grapes and olive trees. There are nearby wonderful Tuscan and Umbrian cities to explore--with fantastic gourmet restaurants.
Enjoyed Most:
On the property thre are grape and olive oil tastings and a small petting zoo. It has a family-friendly European atmosphere, making it perfect for families with small children! There is a friendly, English-speaking, helpful staff.
Enjoyed Least:
The directions were inadequate and it took significant ingenuity on our part and assistance from an Italian hippie to finally find the property in the quiet of the Italian lunch/siesta time.
Surrounding Area:
There are great small medieval towns and villages close by, such as Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Gubbio, and Orvieto. We stayed in Florence the first 3 days and then visited smaller towns during the latter part of the trip--a great choice.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The tiny village of Vernazano was within walking distance, but the closest grocery store was about 2 miles away. Tuoro, the larger village, and another grocery store, were about 2 miles away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take the Tuoro exit and follow La Casa Colonica signs to the first large intersection in Tuoro. Then, take right and follow signs to Vernazano; you'll see signs again for La Casa Colonica. Do follow Frommer's guide to Tuscany for resturant recommendations.
We did not have Italian GPS and property owner said that one has to enter Vernazano into the GPS in order to get to the property. You have to know to drive to Vernazano first (from Tuoro) in order to find the La Case Colonica signs.
Check In Out:
English-speaking staff made process easy. We did not have to pay any security deposit and "voluntarily" left the 65 Euro final cleaning fee since there was no one in office when we left in the PM. The staff just wrote down info from one passport and was not interested in copies of passports that I wanted to give them.

Very nice villa.
Enjoyed Most:
Location is very peaceful.
Enjoyed Least:
Stove needs repairs- dials don't work. Also one shower head needs work.
Surrounding Area:
Close to many beautiful sights.
Nearby Events or Locales:
A good supermarket was only 5 minutes by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Try the owner's wine and olive oil. It is excellent.
