Customer Reviews

Overall:
Extraordinary! We loved the location and found the staff to be kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and most agreeable.
Enjoyed Most:
The physical building and location, grounds and pool, and the general vineyard setting.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds.
Surrounding Area:
The hills, local towns, food, and the friendliness of people and their patience with my poor facility with Italian. Do not worry--Marra speaks good English, but most people don't.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monselice; yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant between the castle and church on the way up to the 7 chapels in Monselice. Eat in the garden.
Directions:
Directions are good. No GPS Needed. But, a local map would be helpful.
Check In Out:
No, all went smoothly.

Overall:
We had a very nice stay in a quiet and romantic environment. The apartment was nice, situated at the rear of the castle with its own walled yard. We enjoyed the wine cellar (open on weekends only) and made good use of the gardens and swimming pool.
Enjoyed Most:
The way the apartment was nicely restored and well-proportioned. Very nice to have our own yard.
Enjoyed Least:
The extra beds (only 4 fixed beds are available) are not very comfortable. In the bathrooms there should be some curtain around the tubs to avoid getting water all over the place. The kitchen area was somewhat narrow. The sitting room "area" was only designed for 4 persons.
Surrounding Area:
Nice to be away from big tourist places. We indeed enjoyed relaxing in the sun in the gardens. The swimming pool was nice, and also the option to borrow bikes for small trips in the surrounding area. The last day we climbed the mountain where the local wine is grown.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town is Monticelli. There is a single local restaurant but no shops. It is about 1.5 km to walk, or you can use the free bikes. Nearest bigger town is Monselice, about 7 km away. It has several restaurants, shops and a shopping centre.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just go and enjoy it. Be sure to visit Venedig. Remember good walking shoes.
Directions:
We used a GPS and were taken right to the front door.

Overall:
Beyond expectations. Modern and comfortable yet you still get the feel of living in a castle. Amazing.
Enjoyed Most:
Expansive with gardens, vineyards, pool, terraces.
Surrounding Area:
Rural yet convenient. Gorgeous Italian countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monselice. Couple of miles.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared to enjoy yourself.

Overall:
Lovely property. The photos do not do it justice. Very helpful staff; the wine cellar was amazing. It's open Saturdays and Sundays, but not in August as they will open up for wine tasting.
Enjoyed Most:
It has a real rustic Italian feel with plenty of space for the 5 of us. Well equipped with plates, cutlery, etc and plenty of towels. Great secluded patio with furniture; we even borrowed a BBQ for a couple of nights.
Enjoyed Least:
Could have done with an extra comfy chair for the evening, and a cupboard to put food items in. Platic cups for the children might be a good idea.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful countryside. We borrowed a couple of bikes--it's nice and flat so it's an easy ride. The swimming pool is amazing; our son spent a record 8 and a half hours in it one day. It's set in a lovely walled garden and you can help yourself to the fruit trees--apples, pears, plums, pomegranates, grapes, watermelon, and even a hazelnut tree.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Moncelise is a 10-minute drive away and has all you need. Market on a Monday. Just on the outskirts of town is a supermarket (remember it's shut Sundays; early closing on a Wednesday).
Tips or Restaurants:
Early August is hot. A lot of Italians holiday at this time, so be aware that some shops and restaurants may be shut. Larger tourist attractions are open. Getting to Venice is really easy by train and it's fairly inexpensive. Get a water bus travel ticket when you get there. You can hop on and off buses all over the city for the whole day. Use insect repellent and watch out for the hornets and fruit wasps. We left our outside light on one evening, opened the door, and had a load of hornets come in. The A/C makes them drowsy, so it was quite easy to remove them in the morning.

Overall:
We had a great time in the area. Aqua Paradise (water park) was fantastic, food great in the little town. it was cold and rainy most of the time. The castle was warm. The bathrooms and kitchen badly need attention. The wine and cheese gathering was great. we loved Mara and Marco who hosted the gathering.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds.
Enjoyed Least:
it needs some tender loving care inside the apartment.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Aqua Paradise Park
Tips or Restaurants:
Marios was great food, La Lauras, Cappaccino at the gas stations are great and cheap.
Directions:
Never be without a gps! It was a life saver.
Check In Out:
Mara was great.

Renae, November

Overall:
The property was far superior to my expectations. The grounds were kept in immaculate condition. The staff were very friendly.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting.
Enjoyed Least:
The fireplace in our apartment was pretty much useless. It filled the entire unit with smoke the first time we used it, and other attempts weren't much more successful. The kitchen was very meagerly appointed. Wish the water in the pool were a little warmer so we could enjoy all of the great spa features more.
Surrounding Area:
The property itself was magnificent. The pool was amazing. Close proximity to Venice, Padua, Verona, Lakes etc, was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monselice. Could walk, but it would be far. They had bikes, though.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't expect to sit by the fire in the apartment. Be sure to rent a car. THere was a small restaurant in a TINY village nearby you could walk if you wanted to. Alessandro, the owner, set it up for us. Can't remember the name.
Directions:
We did not have GPS, but overall would have REALLY liked to have had it. Directions were pretty much right on.
