Customer Reviews

Overall:
Very enjoyable.
Enjoyed Most:
Outside area and the pool area.
Enjoyed Least:
Patio area was small.
Surrounding Area:
Nice area with interesting small towns and easy access to Venice by trains.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monticelli - yes, but not much there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Accessing Venice by train is great. Taking a "spa day" and going to hot springs resorts is worthwhile.
Directions:
Did not use a GPS and directions were adequate.
Check In Out:
Check in/Check out process went very smoothly.

Overall:
We loved this beautiful castle and winery. The hosts were so helpful. The apartment was beautifully equipped and although they kept the rustic ambiance it had all the modern conveniences.
Enjoyed Most:
We really enjoyed the beauty of the gardens and architecture of this stunning place. There is a beautiful indoor pool. The wine tasting cafe was also convenient and fun. The wine was excellent. We also enjoyed the two beautiful dogs that wandered the property and greeted guests.
Enjoyed Least:
The WiFi was not accessible in the apartment. One had to go to the gardens to get it. We were lucky that the weather was good the whole time.
Surrounding Area:
There were some great little towns close by. The drive to Venice is very easy. We also drove to Verona, a place worth seeing. We found it easy to find good restaurants, grocery and shopping within a 5 to 20 minute drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Monteselice. It was not within walking distance, but could be accessed by bicycle for the brave and fit.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found a great family owned Trattoria about a 4 minute drive from the Castle in Montecello. You could probably walk or bike to it. We also found a great Trattoria in the complex where the Aliper grocery is located in Albano Terme about a 15 minute drive. From the inside of the Galleria it looks like a walk up snack bar. But there is a beautiful patio outside that is hidden from the road. The food was great. It is important to be aware of the Italian custom of restaurants and stores closing at 2pm for several hours. Most restaurants do not open for dinner until 7 or 7:30 PM. If you are early birds, you will want to have snacks available or eat in.
Directions:
A GPS is a must to navigate the surrounding area. You are out in the country. The entrance road to the castle is easy to miss the first time. But once you find it, it is easy to get back.
Check In Out:
The hosts made it easy.

Overall:
Everything was fantastic! We will certainly be back.
Enjoyed Most:
The staff was so accomodating and welcoming. They helped us in every way. The facilities were better even than they appeared in the pictures. LOVED the "big BBQ" - really a 15th century room with a large fire for cooking... so much fun!
Surrounding Area:
The towns were close by and there were several of them. It gave us plenty of options for restaurants and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monticelli and Monselice - neither really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The suggestions for restaurants provided by the staff were excellent. The book of information was very useful.
Directions:
Directions were fantastic! The only place in Italy that we didn't need the GPS to find the location.
Check In Out:
Wonderful!

Catherine, September

Overall:
Really great. I was very happy with the place and would definitely recommend it. The people we dealt with were super helpful and friendly and the location was also wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, history, vistas, nicely done interior, beautiful grounds and the helpful people who took good care of us. Ilenia never got tired of our questions. Also, we liked the outdoor patio and pool.
Enjoyed Least:
The matresses were harder than we are used to.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. We had nice restaurants close by and the food was good; the owners were friendly and helpful. We were able to take good day trips to many interesting sights.
Tips or Restaurants:
Very good restraunt nearby, our favorite: Costa Di Rovigo. Owner and our server, his wife, treated us very nicely. I wish we had taken their picture. The only things you need to bring are soap, shampoo, and personal care products.
Directions:
We used GPS but the only glich was that it sent us to the back entrance of the property and the gate was locked. After one phone call, Alessandro, the property owner quickly sent someone to open the gate. After that we used the main entrance.

Overall:
Great. Apartment and location were great.
Enjoyed Most:
Rural setting, but close to lots of sights. Very peaceful and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
Dogs barking in the morning. It was unfortunate that the pool was not open. Internet coverage was very weak and pretty slow.
Surrounding Area:
Little towns were great. Easy access to Venice, Verona, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monselice. Not quite within walking distance, but less than a 5-minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rucola is on the top of the ridge to the NW and was outstanding.

Matt, January

Overall:
Very good. Property was beautiful and the online pictures did not do it justice.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet, secluded area, able to bicycle, sitting on the patio, clean, wine bar on premises that reeks of history.
Enjoyed Least:
Noisy staff on Sat 2AM cleaning up from a wedding. Internet and phone did not work in apartment. Staff was wonderful about letting us go online in the office
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes. 12 miles down a dirt road...can't remember the name of the town. Only a church, a restaurant, and homes are there. Must drive to a town to buy food, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Dirt road that leads to a very small town about 14 miles from the castle has a restaurant that is quite incredible. Owned and operated by a local family, all the food is homemade, reasonable in price, and very good.
Directions:
Must always add additional travel time because train comes often and the gate remains closed frequently for 2 or 3 trains to pass. We waited often for 15 minutes at the tracks.
Check In Out:
Very easy, went smoothly. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Marge, October

Overall:
Very good. The staff at the castello are very helpful and kind.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and the area.
Surrounding Area:
It was quiet and not far from Venice and Verona.
Check In Out:
We had some difficulties with the check-in because at first nobody was there!

Josée, July

Overall:
It was spectacular. We would highly recommend this property to anyone.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect. Easily accessible to the nearby towns and other large cities by train.
Enjoyed Least:
There needs to be a nicer area for outside dining. We dined on the front porch. The view was ok but was much nicer inside the castle walls.
Surrounding Area:
Very beautiful and easily accessible.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monselice was a 3-5 minute car ride
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant suggestions provided by the castle were fantastic. All were within 5-7 minute drive from the castle and were excellent.
