Luis, August

Overall:
We had a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The location close to buses, restaurants, and grocery store. It was spacious and well furnished. It was lovely to come home and relax on the patio. The owner was very attentive to our needs. The check in went very smoothly.
Enjoyed Least:
The showers!! One was very small and the other was missing a shower curtain
Surrounding Area:
Nothing special. It was a quiet, typical Florence suburb.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The centre of Florence was a a bit of a hike. Possible but not recommended for seniors on a hot day. Take the bus!!
Tips or Restaurants:
Check out the nearby entertainment and shopping district Borgo la Croce.
Directions:
No problem; we took a taxi from the airport.
Check In Out:
Very responsive and hassle-free.

Overall:
We had a wonderful time in this home. We felt safe and everything we needed was within walking distance. Bus, groceries, restaurants etc.
Enjoyed Most:
The overall feeling of living in an Italian residence in the suburbs. It had a washing machine and outdoor drying space.
Enjoyed Least:
The one bathroom was quite narrow. The refrigerator freezer was dirty. Cleaned and empty would have been more welcoming.
Surrounding Area:
Restful backyard and see note above.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You could walk to the center of Florence but as seniors we always took a bus. Especially in the heat of June.
Tips or Restaurants:
It was very well-equipped. The dishwasher and laundry soap was much appreciated as we were only there for a week. Bring your own face cloth if you use one.
Directions:
We went by taxi from the airport and it was about 27 Euros.
Check In Out:
It was all done smoothly and the owner was very personable and on time which was important to us.

Overall:
We had a wonderful visit. Lots of space and privacy and still within walking distance of most landmarks. If not in walking distance we were only a few blocks from a bus stop. Ideal location!
Enjoyed Most:
The outside terrace provided a wonderful space for relaxing and visiting.
Enjoyed Least:
The pigeons were quite comfortable and didn't hesitate to walk into our villa. Recommend keeping the terrace doors closed.
Surrounding Area:
There were grocery stores, restaraunts, ATMs, and transportation all within a few blocks while still being in a residential area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There weren't any small towns within walking distance, which was fine.
Tips or Restaurants:
The tourist bus was very nice. You can get a one day pass and get on and off at your leisure, or just ride around town.
Directions:
We took a cab to the villa and didn't have any problems. There are easy to read maps readily available.

Overall:
Loved the position of the apartment in Florence. We could walk around the area and use the local shops and cafes.
Enjoyed Most:
The size is very good as it is in the city. We loved being able to catch a bus at Piazza Oberdan or Beccaria and go all over the city. You could get to Fiesole to see the Roman Theatre from Piazza San Marco on the local bus and up to the other side of Florence to see the city from above. We bought a 7 day pass for 18 Euro each and then you only have to validate the ticket the first time you use it. Inspectors do get on so make sure you validate your tickets.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen needs updating, but this would not stop me going back as the position is great.
Surrounding Area:
Being able to use the local cafes and bars without the crowds of the city.
Tips or Restaurants:
There is a Coop supermarket on Via Cimabue that is an easy walk and you can buy most supplies there so you don't have to bring too much. Coco Tripone restaurant near to Beccaria had very good local cuisine.
Directions:
We just used a taxi from the airport in Florence; there is a flat rate fee of 20 Euro plus 1 Euro per suitcase. There is no need to drive in Florence as the bus and train system there is excellent.
Check In Out:
The check in was easy, we called ahead when we had landed in Florence and we were met at the apartment and shown how to the open the electric outside door. The checkout is easy--just leave the keys on the table and shut the doors.

Michael, May

Overall:
Loved the area for the ease of grocery shopping, proximity to cafes, and access to the local bus for a quick ride to the center of Florence.
Enjoyed Most:
Large living space and courtyard.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen needs attention. Freezer needed to be cleaned properly.
Surrounding Area:
Lovely cafes for morning coffee, grocery store close by. Local morning market.
Directions:
Took a taxi from the airport. Our driver was very helpful and used a GPS to find the property.

Overall:
What a great and spacious apartment, the three of us rattled around in it! We loved the ability to sit outside with a glass of wine and a bite to eat. Our host could not have been more charming - welcoming us with water and wine and fresh fruit and biscuits, and sharing a detailed map of Firenze showing his favorite (ie non-tourist) trattoria and locations for gelati and groceries!
Enjoyed Most:
The size of the apartment and its great location.
Surrounding Area:
We wandered all over Firenze. Took the train to Venice one day...super convenience to everything we wanted to see.
Check In Out:
Take Lorenzo's advice about places to eat...great food and better value when avoiding some of the more tourist-focused restaurants.

Overall:
A very positive experience, beginning with a warm welcome by Lorenzo. He showed us around the apartment, explained how things worked, gave us maps, and lots of information about the neighborhood. After several hours on a train to get to Florence, the wine, cookies, and fruit he provided were more than welcome! The small bathroom is a challenge, but manageable--and just having a second bathroom is always a plus. An extra nice feature is that each room has air conditioning (not often found in Italy), operated with a remote.
Enjoyed Most:
It is clean, large, bright, and airy. We especially enjoyed the patio, where we could read or sip wine in the evening.
Surrounding Area:
We chose the apartment because it was in a residential area, so we could easily walk to restaurants, a supermarket, dry cleaner, pharmacy, etc. We were a few blocks from a bus stop so quickly learned to take the 2 or 3 buses into the center of the city.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lorenzo made some good recommendations, and we found that the small Osteria Coco Trippone on Gioberti offered good food at reasonable prices.
Check In Out:
Lorenzo made it very easy. We called him upon our arrival at the train station, then took a taxi to the apartment where he was on hand to meet us. Two weeks later, because I had had problems with my cell phone, it was he who arranged to have a taxi at the apartment early on Sunday morning to take us to the airport. We just left the keys on a table in the hall when we left.

Overall:
Very good. Best part was the manager's introduction to the apartment and to Florence, complete with a personalized map showing location and nearby restaurants, etc.
Enjoyed Most:
Spacious, well-appointed, in excellent location - close enough to walk to nearly all major sites (we're all in our 60s and not in great shape) but far enough to avoid noise etc of center city's tourist area.
Enjoyed Least:
Second bathroom was very narrow. Difficult for two large men to negotiate, but the larger bathroom has less room in shower.
Surrounding Area:
Relatively quiet residential area with supermarket, restaurants, dry cleaner, numerous coffee bars, etc. Good for stays over 1 week.
Tips or Restaurants:
Liked Barrino on Via Ghoberti. Coop and Conad supermarkets nearby and easy to use. Loved coffee shop at corner of Vias Bruno and Ammirato.
Check In Out:
Best part of stay was property manager's introduction to area.
