Customer Reviews

Overall:
Our stay at this property was even better than expected. The villa is built right against a cliff, so the interior is a unique and pleasing blend of classic Amalfi Coast design and solid rock. Antique and modern furnishings co-exist quite naturally and the ceramic tile floors are beautiful. Huge south-facing doors and windows allow a lot of natural light in and the views have to be seen to be believed. Some other reviewers stated that a car is a necessity, but as avid walkers we disagree. There are excellent public footpaths leading to the Marina at Praiano, Fiordo di Furore, and just about anywhere else you might want to go in the area. The property is located halfway along a mile-long dead-end road with good visibility and very little traffic, so it's fine for walking to the store, restaurants, etc.
Enjoyed Most:
The incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea during the day and the lights of Praiano in the evening. Honorable mention goes to the marvelous terrace and pool, which we took full advantage of at every opportunity.
Enjoyed Least:
There is very little not to like about this property. Some people may find the distance from towns and villages to be a problem, but for us this was simply an excuse to get some much-needed exercise.
Surrounding Area:
Being city dwellers in real life, we loved the rural/agricultural aspect of the surrounding area. Everywhere there are terraced farms growing olives, grapes and vegetables. Everyone we encountered was very friendly, and after a day or two we began to feel like locals.
Nearby Events or Locales:
A small commercial center is located an easy 15 minute walk up the road. Here there is a grocery store, bus stop, ATM and restaurant. Take a small backpack and reusable cloth bag to haul your groceries back to the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Other reviewers had commented negatively about the firm beds in Italy, so we brought along a double-size mattress pad in a compression sack - problem solved and well worth the trouble! There are 2 great dining options close by, each a 15-minute walk from the villa. At the commercial center is Bianca Zita, one of the nicest pizzerias we've ever found. Aside from their amazing gourmet pizza, Vito and Mario offer a different entrée such as seafood or lamb each evening. They also have a good ion of Campania wines including Marisa Cuomo, a great winery located just up the hill. In the other direction, at the end of the road, is Serafina, a family-owned and operated farm and BB. For 30 Euros per person, Domenico and his daughters Rosa and Elena serve an excellent full-course dinner with wine, all produced right on the farm. We ate there 3 times. Highly recommended but be sure to call for reservations!
Directions:
We used a pre-booked taxi service (cost 120 Euros) to get to the property from Naples airport. The directions provided by RentVillas were fine.
Check In Out:
Our check-in/out was fast and efficient. The local representative, Filomena, spoke good English and she was extremely knowledgeable about both the property and the surrounding area. She also provided us with an excellent map of Furore showing all the footpaths and locations of restaurants, points of interest, etc.

Overall:
The villa was absolutely beautiful, both the interior and the exterior. The views spectacular.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the views, the cleanliness and all the amenities.
Enjoyed Least:
The distance to Amalfi was an issue. This is a great property if you wish to stay put since the cab ride averages about 45 Euros one way. Although there is bus service, it did not always work out with our schedule.
Surrounding Area:
We absolutely loved that the best tasting pasta and pizza was found in our favourite restaurant right in the village. BIANCA ZITA, (both owners Mario and Vito extraordinary people) is an absolute must! Extremely affordable and divine! The buffalo mozzarella is an absolutely must. Mario makes it himself. Please let Mario and Vito know George and Eleni sent you and give them a great big hug from us. The tiny cafe (where you buy your bus tickets) makes the best croissant and cappuccino on the Amalfi,. (1.80 for both)
Nearby Events or Locales:
The centre of this town is within 10 minutes by foot.
Tips or Restaurants:
Please make sure you are clear as to why you are considering renting a villa. If you are looking to stay put, and cook on the premises, I would highly recommend renting Furore 1. It is a spectacular facility. However, had we known about the two gems we discovered, BIANCA ZITA, the coffee shop, and all the travelling into town and tours we were taking, we would not have booked a villa this size.
Directions:
Definitely make sure Antoinetta (the property manager) books her driver to pick you up from the Amalfi when you arrive. The local bus takes you to the Amalfi centre within 20 minutes, at a cost of 3 Euros. Cabbing it can get very expensive.

Eleni, September

Overall:
It was fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool and outside areas were better than anticipated. Property was very clean. Amenities were excellent.
Surrounding Area:
Priaiano
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore. It was about 1/2 to 3/4ths of a mile
Tips or Restaurants:
Salt and pepper. Otherwise it is fully equipped. The town store is adorable and has everything or anything you need.
Directions:
GPS is the way to go.
Check In Out:
Loved Antonietta. She was very helpful and accommodating. She answered all of our questions and was flexible.

Atillio , October

Overall:
The property was lovely. The furnishings were beautiful, the views spectacular, and the pool area was gorgeous. Overall, a beautiful villa with stunning views.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular, and the unit was so interesting with the combination of natural stone, tile, and nice furnishings.
Enjoyed Least:
The location is a bit far from the towns we wanted to visit, especially with driving such a challenge. Parking at the unit was also difficult. Not a true shower in the master, and the shower in the guest bath was tiny with no place to put shampoo, razor, etc. Parking was a challenge at the unit, and driving in the area is stressful.
Surrounding Area:
Many excellent restaurants. The dining experiences were great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore. No, it was not within walking distance. Having a car was a necessity.
Tips or Restaurants:
Excellent restaurants are Bacco, Ripa Della Janare, Agroturismo Sarafina, Fico L'India, L'Incanto.
Directions:
We were given directions to a bar to meet the property manager. We experienced a problem when we arrived. Our phones were not working, and we could not find a WiFi hotspot. A kind woman in the mini-mart made a phone call for us.
Check In Out:
I think the meeting point should be the villa, not a bar which is often closed. Need a backup plan for foreign tourists who may experience difficulty with phones or WiFi.

Julie, September

Overall:
A lovely place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. 15 minute stroll to restaurants, shops and bars and also plenty of choices a short drive away.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and view.
Enjoyed Least:
Driving on Italian roads. Very narrow and little courtesy shown by local bus drivers.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful scenery and wide choice of places to eat withing 10-15 minutes drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore was 15 minute stroll away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring basic condiments if you plan to cook. Although available in the local shops, range is limited if you want more than Italian flavors. Bacco was a good restaurant about 5 minutes drive. Il Pirata was a lovely lunch in Praiano but a 30-minute drive.. We went twice.
Directions:
We were met by the key yholder as it would have been very difficult to find on our own. This worked well.
Check In Out:
All very good. Key holder was very helpful and there were maps and guides in the property including local restaurant suggestions.

Mike, August

Overall:
It was a wonderful property with a terrific view.
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed. It was firm.
Surrounding Area:
Peace and quiet.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore was the nearest town. It was within a 15+ minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Furore grocery store was small but very well stocked - we were able to make quite a few lovely meals at the house. There were few basic supplies at the house so we were happy to find coffee, sugar, salt, dishwashing soap, laundry soap, etc.

Diana, October

Overall:
This is a wonderful property located nicely between Amalfi and Positano. The cute grocery store located in Furore was a very nice convenience near this house. We loved the area.
Enjoyed Most:
The views are spectacular and it was very peaceful.
Enjoyed Least:
The bugs in the evening drove us inside, but it was still very nice.
Surrounding Area:
The cities all around us were wonderful and a very amazing part of Italy to investigate. We will return to this area again.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Furore, where we enjoyed several restaurants and services. It was an easy walk to it, as well.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you are in the area for a while, it's worth driving to Paestum to see the Greek/Roman ruins. Most all restaurants we went to were outstanding.
Directions:
We used our GPS and found the property quite easily. We had already seen the house using a map search on the internet and found it quite easily. Our contacts were very helpful and worked with us when we got delayed due to sightseeing.
Check In Out:
The check in and check out process was easy and handled quite professionally. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will refer this site to others.

Overall:
The experience at Furore 1 was amazing. The view could not be beat! I would never close the curtains at night so that I could see the beautiful coastline ablaze with lights.
Enjoyed Most:
The rooftop pool was an added bonus. We would go out each day and be back in the early afternoon to use the pool. It was so comfortable with the lounge chairs and dining area. It was also very close to Serafina which was really one of the highlights of the trip. If you stay here, you must go to Serafina. Everything you ate was from the property where they grew everything. The even sent us back with some homemade wine, plums, cherries and fennel. All which came right from the farm. The food was the best ever!! It was such a special time. Dominic, the owner, made you feel like part of the family.
Enjoyed Least:
There were 68 steps leading up to the pool which made that one of the drawbacks. There was only a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that was in the bedroom. The other shower was extremely small, which made it hard to move around. And lastly, it was a little too far from a main town. The town of Furore, which was within walking distance had a restaurant, a bank, and a post office and a small market.
Surrounding Area:
It was not too far from Amalfi which was a great thing. We spent a lot of time there. Positano was also not too far.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore was the nearest town and was within walking distance but uphill on the way there!
Tips or Restaurants:
I cannot say enough about Serafina. It was so good that we went back for a second time. We are still talking about it!
Directions:
I did have a rental car but decided to give it back. I hired a private driver. Once he was hired it was smooth sailing. Carmine (driver) became our driver for the duration of the trip. I never had to worry about directions. If you can, I would highly recommend that you have a driver.

Overall:
Much more than we expected! This property is beautiful! Great location, easy access to all the towns on the coast using local transportation bus/boat.
Enjoyed Most:
Obviously, the view is incredible! But then to add the roof top terrace and pool, lush flowers, and church bells chiming--it was absolutely magnificent! Really over the top beautiful! The property itself is outstanding, very well maintained and clean! The villa is nicely laid out and comfortable if your traveling with another couple. Kitchen was quaint and very usable; we prepared several meals and dined al fresco.
Surrounding Area:
Peaceful and quiet. Locals are very friendly. A couple nights we walked to the end of the road (12 miles) to Serafina Farm. Dominic and his family welcomed us for dinner--a delicious homegrown meal. Everything is grown and prepared right there...cheese, sausage, wine, and olive oil. And then at the end of the evening he drove us back to our villa and gave us bottles of wine and limoncello, even eggs and coffee for morning! What an experience!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore is within walking distance, 15 minutes uphill, but very doable. Small, very few services available. Great pizza and bus stop.
Tips or Restaurants:
Easy without a car, but can be time-consuming to get around to other towns. Sometimes the buses are full, though they do run frequently. Travel by boat was easy, too. Pack light as there's a washer/dryer available. Bring bug spray...something was biting us.
Directions:
We had a driver pick us up at the Naples train station and he communicated with our contact key holder.

Tiffany, June

Overall:
Fantastic experience!
Enjoyed Most:
Lovely location with fantastic view. The pool was a big hit!
Enjoyed Least:
Mosquitoes and lack of bug protection at night.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the local farm restaurant down the road from us.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Furore. Yes, it was within walking distance but there's not too much happening there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoyed the restaurant Serafina down the road from the villa.
Directions:
GPS was helpful.
